SCHÄFER CAROUSEL SYSTEM: SCS The new dynamics of order picking

SCHÄFER CAROUSEL SYSTEM SCS: The new highly dynamic storage and order picking system Conventional storage and logistics systems are reaching their limits: an ever increasing variety of items with batch sizes simultaneously being reduced (due to e-commerce, for instance), competitive pressure, and more and more complex demands of modern ERP systems. The new SCS (Schäfer Carousel System) has been especially developed due to these high demands. As a stand alone solution or combined with other storage systems, it offers safe handling (goods to man), short access times to a wide range of products, short throughput times, and maximum time saving during order picking due to individual processes being made parallel. Advantages High order picking performance Low space requirements Wide, nearly unlimited range of products Effective cost reduction Simple, proven technologies Scope of services Individual adaptation to projects A highly dynamic storage and order picking system. Integration into existing warehouse logistics Autonomous, fully functional module Connection to existing ERP systems Complete handling of a project including training, service and maintenance 3
Rotating dynamics in the most confined space The standard SCS consists of four rotating carousels each with a decoupled and an automatic loading/unloading unit. The dense and thus space saving stocking of the shelves provides for a system capacity of up to 6,000 units in the most confined space. In connection with high-performance conveyor systems and the most modern control technology, up to 1,000 storage and retrieval operations can be carried out per hour. 4
SCHÄFER CAROUSEL SYSTEM The efficient and ergonomic implementation of the goods to man principle is a decisive factor with regard to high, continuous throughput and non-fatiguing work. Clear operator guidance confirms, manages, and controls each order picking procedure. The workstation can fulfill all storage functionalities: order picking, goods receiving, handling returns, and physical inventory. Order picking workplace pick-to-tote : Particularly suitable for big, heavy or fragile items, which are put directly into the order bin with this order picking option. Order picking workplace pick-to-bucket : Order picking into a collecting bucket, decoupled from the order bin. Advantages: Increase in order picking performance by a coefficient of 6 10 Reduction of throughput times Increase in the degree of automation with the picking error rate simultaneously being reduced towards zero Recording, precise management, and control of a wide product range Significant storage compaction Monitoring of expiration dates Drop on belt procedure: Derived from the pick-to-bucket procedure, the picked items are transported to a central filling point via a conveyor belt. Batch tracing 5
The concept: maximum warehouse density in the most confined space With a ground area of some 160 m 2 and a room volume of some 800 m 3, the SCS contains 6,000 standard bins. Since the bins are retrieved using stationary lifting units instead of aisle-bound storage and retrieval machines (SRM), a space saving and dense carousel arrangement is made possible. Conveyor systems Proven and dependable SSI SCHÄFER conveyor systems ensure the smooth functioning of the SCS. The conveyor system and the storage module can handle bins and trays with a basic size of 600 x 400 mm and variable heights. The individual weight is 25 kg maximum. 6
SCHÄFER CAROUSEL SYSTEM Depending on individual requirements, appropriate workplace concepts for different tasks can be created or combined in a multi-functional workplace. Equipment Control and warehouse management system Up to 6,000 storage locations Four lifts Four carousels Workplace Performance Up to 1,000 order lines per hour Real time inventory management Dimensions and arrangements Storage module L x W x H = 15 x 10 x 5 m Modules also possible in two levels Front zone Front side or lateral workplaces possible Multiple workplaces 2 levels 7
