Please refer to your Sika partner. Concrete substrates must be sound and of sufficient compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm 2 ) with a minimum pull off strength of 1.5 N/mm 2. The substrate must be clean, dry and free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings and surface treatments, etc. If in doubt, apply a test area first. Application Conditions / Limitations Substrate Temperature Ambient Temperature +5ºC min. / +35ºC max. +5ºC min. / +35ºC max. 3 3/6

Substrate Moisture Content Relative Air Humidity Dew Point < 4% pbw moisture content. Test method: Sika -Tramex meter, CM - measurement or Oven-dry-method. No rising moisture according to ASTM (Polyethylene-sheet). 80% r.h. max. Beware of condensation. The substrate and uncured floor must be at least 3ºC above the dew point to reduce the risk of condensation or blooming on the floor finish. Application Instructions Mixing Mixing Time Levelling mortar: Part A: part B = 100 : 1.5 : 80 (by weight) Part A : part B = 100 : 1.5 (by weight) Levelling mortar: Prior to mixing, stir part A mechanically. When all of part B has been added to part A, mix continuously for 1-2 minutes until a uniform mix has been achieved. Add, while stirring slowly the total amount of Sika Asplit VEL powder. Laminate layer and top coat: Prior to mixing, stir part A mechanically. When all of part B has been added to part A, mix continuously for 1-2 minutes until a uniform mix has been achieved. Over mixing must be avoided to minimise air entrainment. Mixing Tools Sika Asplit VE must be thoroughly mixed using a low speed electric stirrer (300-400 rpm) or other suitable equipment. Substrate Preparation Concrete substrates must be prepared mechanically using abrasive blast cleaning or scarifying equipment to remove cement laitance and achieve an open textured surface. Weak concrete must be removed and surface defects such as blowholes and voids must be fully exposed. Repairs to the substrate, filling of blowholes/voids and surface levelling must be carried out using Sikagard -720 EpoCem. The concrete or screed substrate has to be primed or levelled in order to achieve an even surface. High spots must be removed by e.g. grinding. All dust, loose and friable material must be completely removed from all surfaces before application of the product, preferably by brush and/or vacuum. Steel surfaces must be prepared mechanically using abrasive blast cleaning. The level SSPC-SP 10 near white metal blast cleaned or level Sa 2 ½ according to ISO EN 12944-4 has to be achieved. Welds and joints have to be prepared according to EN 14879, part 1. After blast cleaning remove all dust dirt and blasting material. In order to maintain the surface conditions after blast cleaning air-conditioning is recommended. 4 4/6

Application Method / Tools Cleaning of Tools Potlife Prior to application, confirm substrate moisture content, relative humidity and dew point. If > 4% pbw moisture content, substrate has to be dried or Sikagard -720 EpoCem has to be used as TMB (temporary moisture barrier). Levelling mortar: Rough surfaces need to be levelled first. Apply the Sikagard -720 EpoCem trowel to the required thickness. If <4% pbw moisture content, Asplit levelling mortar can be used to level the substrate undulation. Primer/base coat: Apply Sika Asplit VE by roller Laminate layer: Apply the first layer of Sika Asplit VE by roller, embed the glass fabric, apply the second and the third layer in the same way, wet in wet. After application of the final glass fabric de-aerate with a disc roller. Top coat: Apply Sika Asplit VE by roller. Note: during application a high air change rate has to be realised; water, also in smallest amount, could affect the hardening and block the curing process. Tools and equipment has to be totally dry. Clean all tools and application equipment with acetone immediately after use. Hardened and/or cured material can only be removed mechanically. Attention: Acetone is a flammable liquid, please handle with care, use all equipment for your personal protection required. Temperature Time +5ºC +20ºC +30ºC ~ 45 minutes ~ 30 minutes ~ 10 minutes Waiting Time / Overcoating Sika Asplit VE is only over coat able with itself. Before applying further layers on Sika Asplit VE allow: Substrate temperature Minimum Maximum +5ºC ~ 4 hours ~ 4 days +20ºC ~ 2 hours ~ 2 days +30ºC ~ 2 hours ~ 2 days Times are approximate and will be affected by changing ambient conditions particularly temperature and relative humidity. 5 5/6

Construction Notes on Application / Limitations Do not apply Sika Asplit VE on substrates with rising moisture. Freshly applied Sika Asplit VE should be protected from damp, condensation and water for at least 8 hours. Avoid puddles on the surface with the imbedding resin. Insure min. 5 cm overlapping of the glass fabric. Construction joints require pre-treatment. Treat as follows: - Static Cracks: fill and level with Sikafloor, Sikagard or Sika MonoTop repair mortars - Dynamic cracks: will be covered, up to 0.2 mm, with the coating system for cracks wider than 0.2 mm design as a movement joint with Sikaflex -Tank, a slip layer followed by the laminate system For the application the use of protective health & safety equipment is mandatory! Under certain conditions, floor heating or high ambient temperatures combined with high point loading, may lead to imprints in the resin. The incorrect assessment and treatment of cracks may lead to a reduced service life and reflective cracking. If heating is required do not use gas, oil, paraffin or other fossil fuel heaters, these produce large quantities of both CO 2 and H 2O water vapour, which may adversely affect the finish. For heating use only electric powered warm air blower systems. Curing Details Applied Product ready for use Temperature Foot traffic Light traffic Full cure +5ºC ~ 8 hours ~ 2 days ~ 3 days +20ºC ~ 4 hours ~ 24 hours ~ 2 days +30ºC ~ 3 hours ~ 24 hours ~ 2 days Note: Times are approximate and will be affected by changing ambient conditions.
