Mechanical Applications Division Quality Blanks direct from the Manufacturer Expanded range of colors for translucent zirconium oxide On a long term basis, high quality is the basic requirement to become widely accepted. Offering true quality is the only way to gain a long-term competitive edge in this market. With over 100 years of experience, we are one of the world s leading suppliers of advanced ceramics and a reliable partner to all of our customers. Our blanks are characterized by their quality, outstanding materials and excellent processing in accordance with 93/42/EEC EU guidelines. To help make dental technicians work easier, we have expanded the range of colors for translucent zirconium oxide to twelve different shades. i Your advantages: Supplied directly by the manufacturer Guaranteed quality in line with the highest standards Ideal conditions for optimum fitting accuracy Excellent milling capability even for thin wall thicknesses Powder-dyed zirconium oxide for homogeneous coloring High biocompatibility T H E C E R A M I C E X P E R T S

Natural appearance with high biocompatibility Material options CeramTec s zirconium oxide blanks for dental prostheses are made from an opaque or translucent material with a surface finish similar to that of natural teeth. The physical and ceramic characteristics are defined by their high material density and, consequently, their strength and stability. We offer blanks made from three different zirconium oxide raw materials. These raw materials differ primarily in their Al 2 content: - Zirconium oxide standard opaque, approx. 0.25 % Al 2 - Zirconium oxide alternative, without Al 2 - Zirconium oxide translucent, < 0.1 % Al 2 Available standard colors for blanks Zirconium oxide standard opaque Color CT1 CT3 CT5 CT7 CT9 Zirconium oxide opaque The color values shown here are subject to the limitations of the printing process and may deviate slightly from the actual product colors. Zirconium oxide alternative Color LL 1 LL 2 LL 3 LL 4 Zirconium oxide alternative The color values shown here are subject to the limitations of the printing process and may deviate slightly from the actual product colors. Zirconium oxide translucent Color LL 1 LL 2 LL 3 LL 4 LE 2 LE 3 Zirconium oxide translucent The color values shown here are subject to the limitations of the printing process and may deviate slightly from the actual product colors.

CeramTec blanks are available in the following standard sizes: Dimensions 10 mm 14 mm 16 mm 18 mm 20 mm 25 mm Diameter 96 mm Diameter 98 mm Diameter 99 mm Diameter 98.5 mm (blank with step) Details and special sizes available on request

Zirconium oxide 3Y-TZP translucent Description Unit Value Standard Main materials group Zirconium oxide ZrO 2 -Y 2 Color white and dyed Density g/cm 3 6.07 DIN EN 623-2 Grain size µm 0.40 DIN EN 623-3 Inline transmission (650 nm) % 50 Chemical composition DIN ISO 12677 ZrO 2 + HfO 2 + Y 2 % 99.0 Y 2 % 4.5-5.6 HfO 2 % 1.8-2.2 Al 2 % 0.03-0.07 Other oxides % 0.5 Chemical solubility µg/cm 2 100 EN ISO 6872 Mechanical and thermal properties Flexural strength (4-point Bending) MPa 1100* DIN ENV 843-1 Flexural strength (3-point Bending) MPa 1200* DIN ENV 843-1 Vickers hardness (HV 0,5) 1250* DIN ENV 843-4 Young s modulus GPa 210* DIN ENV 843-2 Thermal expansion coefficient WAK 20-600 C 10-6 K -1 10.70* DIN EN 821-1 The characteristic values indicated with a * are average material values of production powders reproducibly determined using standardized test specimens. The indicated values may not be transferred to random formats and/or parts with other surfaces. The standards in the DIN EN 623-xx, 821-xx and 843-xx series named here are used to test advanced ceramic materials. The standards specifications outlined in DIN EN ISO 6872 correspond to the specified standards with very few deviations. The material meets EN ISO 13 356 standard specifications. Dyed powders: Due to the small amount of dopants used to produce even the darkest colors, the dyed material corresponds to the datasheet specifications for chemical composition and other oxides < 0.5 %, meaning it also satisfies the EN ISO 13356 standard. Therefore the material characteristics are also not significantly affected, so that the datasheet provides valid information for both undyed as well as dyed Zpex.

Natural coloring in twelve different shades The expanded range of colors for translucent zirconium oxide offers the same benefits as the proven CeramTec zirconium oxide translucent in white: - Highly aesthetic - Outstanding physical properties such as high final densities of > 6.07 g/cm³, high strength and a very fine grain size of approximately 0.4 μm - Low sintering temperatures of 1450 C - Excellent milling capability for thin wall thicknesses - High fitting accuracy The new blanks are available in twelve translucent shades. The basic material zirconium oxide is dyed directly in powder form through the addition of rare earths. The result is a blank that is distinguished by its absolutely homogeneous color, which is retained throughout all of the subsequent process steps in the dental laboratory. New color variations are now available in addition to yellow and brown shades. The new colors feature reduced yellows, increased reds or even increased grays. CeramTec uses rare earths in this process, taking yet another step toward achieving superb-quality dental prostheses. Zirconium oxide translucent CT 11 CT 13 CT 15 CT 17 CT 21 CT 23 CT 25 CT 27 CT 31 CT 38 CT 35 CT 37 The color values shown here are subject to the limitations of the printing process and may deviate slightly from the actual product colors.

Quality without compromise 100 years of experience Zirconium oxide blanks from CeramTec are the result of a high-tech manufacturing process designed to produce uncompromising quality. A comprehensive quality management system ensures that all process steps are carried out in accordance with 93/42/EEC EU guidelines and satisfy precisely defined criteria from chemical composition analysis of the raw material to physical, visual and geometrical inspection of the finished blank. The technologies used here range from our Powder Testing Center, which determines the compressibility of the powder, to our scanning electron microscope for precise microstructural analysis. CeramTec is one of the world s leading suppliers of advanced ceramics with over 100 years of experience. The company currently has over 3,600 employees and an international presence in Europe, America and Asia. The CeramTec product portfolio comprises well over 10,000 different products, components and parts made from technical ceramics along with a wide variety of other ceramic materials. Advanced ceramics from CeramTec are used in the automotive industry, in electronics, energy and environmental technology, equipment, mechanical, and medical engineering and in many other applications.
