About Us: FVA GmbH is a joint venture of Forschungvereinigung Antriebstechnik e.v. (the German research association for drive technology) and the GzF (Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Maschinenbaues mbh) within VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.v., the German engineering association). FVA Workbench FVA Workbench Highlights Unique Simulation Capabilities Promote Innovation The FVA Workbench is a simulation platform for all aspects of designing drive systems. The software bundles an unparalleled range of calculation and simulation methods for individual machine components up to the entire system that have been developed over decades within the expert network of the German research association for drive technology. Intuitive Operation Increases Productivity The input logic of the FVA Workbench is designed around simulation objectives. The user is guided intuitively through the input process, assisted by system help and notifications. The software automatically bundles the functionality of multiple FVA modules according to the selected objective, providing you with consistent results in less time. Information Where You Need It The FVA Workbench includes the FVA KnowledgeBase, an integrated knowledge management platform, and a context-sensitive help system. These useful tools provide illustrations and precise information on input fields, along with access to examples, tutorials, FAQs, and much more. This makes it simple for new and occasional users to perform complex simulations using the FVA Workbench quickly and easily. 3D Animation Reduces Complexity The FVA Workbench uses a professional CAD kernel to generate 3D models. Very detailed, geometrically correct representations allow direct, visual verification of results. High-quality animations make complex movements and power flows intuitive and easy to understand. In addition to supporting many open interfaces, gear models can also be exported in a neutral.sat format for use with external CAD programs. FVA Workbench Knowledge Management For a quick introduction to the world of FVA simulations, the integrated FVA KnowledgeBase knowledge management system offers easy access to all information related to the simulation methods and functions of the FVA Workbench. Context-sensitive help, tutorials, and graphical content provide targeted help as you use the system. The FVA KnowledgeBase includes: Concise, context-sensitive information on input attributes Notes on special aspects of data entry Tutorials and example models FAQs for quick assistance Page-specific links to kernel documentation Instructions for advanced features such as scripting, batch operation, and user-defined reports Cross-Platform Knowledge with a Single Click In addition to the standard help text, many entries also include direct links to FVA s THEMIS communication & knowledge platform. Presentation and Evaluation of Results The FVA Workbench provides you with a practical representation of your simulation results. From the first graphical review of individual transmission components or the entire gear model through to the creation of a detailed report of all results, the simulation platform offers helpful solutions for your design tasks. 2D Schematic Drawings of Transmission Components This practical representation offers clear design solutions for gearbox components. 3D Views and Animation of Gearbox Models The 3D visualisation feature of the FVA Workbench makes it possible to create very detailed, geometrically correct representations of the gear model. Multiple views and animated motion sequences make complex relationships easy to understand. CAD models can be exported (in SAT format) for use in other process stages. Automatic Creation of Reports of Simulation Results The system can create complete reports of the simulation results in either Microsoft Word or PDF format. The results are clearly organised according to calculation objectives. Page 06

FVA Workbench Scripting/Automation/Batch Processing The FVA Workbench offers three different tools for saving time while performing repetitive tasks. Scripting This useful tool allows the user to control the FVA Workbench via a JavaScript-based scripting language. In contrast to automation, control structures and loops can also be used with scripting. Scripting can be used to: Perform simulations Assign attributes Compare values Program loops and decision-making structures Document key figures Read data and write results Typical applications include: Optimisation calculations Calculus of variations Mass calculations Example: Variation of the number of teeth and module with subsequent simulation of load carrying capacity. Automation Automation plans can be used to quickly automate recurring tasks via a convenient user interface. Example: Multiple simulation objectives can automatically be executed one after another, and the results can be saved in a central folder. Batch Processing Batch processing can be used to seamlessly integrate the FVA Workbench into existing workflows with other programs. The FVA Workbench is automatically started and simulations are performed. The results are subsequently stored in a central directory to be accessed by other programs. FVA Workbench Maintenance Subscription Licensing Models FVA GmbH software solutions are continually updated to respond to the demands of the drive technology industry and cutting edge research. In order to share these developments with our customers, we offer licensing subscriptions for our software services. Benefits: Free maintenance Direct access to our expert support team Free software updates and upgrades Flexibility and investment protection Licensing Models Client Licence For individuals Bound to specific hardware Bound to a specific location One licence per user The number of FVA Workbench installations is identical to the number of licences. Every user must obtain an individual licence from lizenz(at)fva-service.de. This licence is only valid for the specific hardware on which the licence key was generated. The licence cannot be transferred to different hardware. If the hardware needs to be replaced (either in part or the full workstation), a new licence must be requested. In this case, the costs are waived for the remaining licence period, but the licensee must certify in writing that the original licence has been destroyed. Floating Licence For institutions Hardware independent Bound to a specific location Parallel users With this type of licensing, the number of computers on which the FVA Workbench is installed is irrelevant. The software can be accessed by multiple users simultaneously, corresponding to the number of licences that have been purchased. It is essential that the FVA Workbench has an active network connection to the licensing server. It is not necessary to obtain a new licence when changing hardware. This type of licensing requires that an additional piece of software, the Server Licence Manager, is installed on a server. This software manages the licences which are used at the company site. A licence key must be generated for the server hardware during installation of the Server Licence Manager.
