Dear Crafters, www.oceangrove.org Thank you for your interest in our 36th Annual Giant Craft Show! After yet another extremely successful event in 2017, we are excited to once again be gearing up for a great show. Enclosed is our 2018 application. As always, keeping the integrity of our high quality, exclusively hand-crafted show is profoundly important to us. We feel that one of the primary ways we can provide an amazing experience for crafters and customers is to rigorously enforce our rules. Though we sometimes have to tell crafters to remove certain items, last year we had to eject two crafters for failing to exhibit any of their own hand-made wares or remove goods we instructed them to. We thank the 99.5% of you who are creative, conscientious, and faithful crafters, and we appreciate your help in maintaining our show quality and closely following the rules. We welcome you to our 36th show and wish you great success in 2018! Blessings, Alison and Mark Mitchell Chairpersons, Ocean Grove Giant Craft Show GiantCraftShow@oceangrove.org 732-775-0035 X119 Sponsored by The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association - www.oceangrove.org. Please visit our website for information on our spectacular 2018 programs & events! Important Updates and Notes: The address for mailing applications has changed this year. Please take note. In 2017, we slightly altered space numbering and reduced availability for Sections A and H. We have reversed this policy, so availability in those sections will increase. Please understand, however, if your number or space shifts slightly. After keeping prices constant for many years, we have slightly increased prices ($5) across the board. We have also changed the price increase dates in an effort to simplify our application process. The middle tier has been removed, but the least expensive tier has been extended. As a result, you have a long window to achieve our lowest pricing. Please apply early! We would like to reiterate the new in 2017 rules (on the Rules page) for crafters (not food vendors) selling food items or offering samples of any kind. Returning Crafter Policy After rave reviews last year, we are continuing this policy. Returning crafters who apply by February 15 th have the option of reserving the same spot as 2017. If you would like a different space or you are a new crafter, you will be assigned one based on the availability of your application choices and the order in which your application was received. Confirmations will be mailed out beginning February 15 th. After that, please allow up to 3 weeks from sending your application to receive your confirmation.

Picture Requirements NEW CRAFTERS ONLY A full color, 8 ½ x 11 page of pictures is required to be included with your 2018 Giant Craft Show Application. This policy is one of several steps being taken to please the thousands of customers and hundreds of crafters who have enjoyed the high quality of this completely handcrafted show over the years. The purpose of the pictures is to prove to us that your products are handmade, and to assist us in reviewing your craft inventory on the morning of the show. Manufactured items are prohibited, including manufactured goods mixed in with handmade items. Because others do it, is not a valid excuse, and you may be removed from the privately-owned premises and will not be allowed to return to the show. PICTURE REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW CRAFTERS ARE AS FOLLOWS: Your full color pictures must be together on one 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper. If you are unable to complete this on a computer, the pictures can be cut and pasted onto one 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper. THE PICTURES MUST INCLUDE CLEAR AND CLOSEUP IMAGES OF: 1) A picture of yourself in your work space/studio, clearly showing your tools and materials. If you do not have an official workspace (i.e. you hand knit), stand/sit next to your supplies and any tools you use. 2) The picture(s) of your finished crafts must represent all of your product types. For example: jewelers must include a sample of their necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings, and anything else they intend to sell. If the products are clearly visible, the items can be combined into one picture. 3) You must show your supply of all types of materials (beads, gems, clasps, etc). If we find items that clearly do not match your material types shown in the pictures, you will be told to leave the show that morning, forfeiting your fee and space. 4) You may be asked to provide more detail if the Giant Craft Show Committee has concerns or questions about your craft. Clarifying examples: 1) If you order a peace charm and string it on a necklace, this is NOT a craft. 2) If you create your own arrangement of beads and add a clasp, this IS a craft. 3) If you buy a spool of beaded chain, cut it to size, and put a clasp on it, this is not YOUR design and is NOT a craft. 4) If you bring matching manufactured earrings for a beaded watch or necklace you make, the earrings are NOT YOUR CRAFT and you will not be allowed in this show with them. 5) If you bring manufactured polymer clay ornaments and simply write someone s name on it, this is DEFINITELY NOT A CRAFT! If you have questions, please contact Alison and Mark Mitchell 732-775-0035 x119 / GiantCraftShow@oceangrove.org

A code you will input with your credit card information enabling you to pay for your space 3. Once you pay, a confirmation will be mailed to you within 3 weeks Please note, we cannot hold spaces for those who do not pay promptly via credit card. CRAFTERS SELLING PREPARED FOOD ITEMS In a change from previous years, new rules apply for any crafter serving food items for human consumption (dips, sauces, spices, mixes, samples, pretzels,etc.). This is not to be confused with FOOD VENDORS, who pay a larger fee, may prepare food on premises, and aren t subject to 100% handmade crafter rules. If you are a crafter selling food items: 1. Please check the box on the application indicating such, as well as whether you will be offering samples. 2. If you will be offering samples, well in advance of the show please complete the Monmouth County Health Department Temporary Food License form available at http://co.monmouth.nj.us and submit it directly to them. 3. We will be maintaining a list based on the applications, and the health inspector will be using this list, the morning of the show, to visit each booth. 4. If you are offering samples, please comply with all Health Department rules and do not give out any until you have been inspected. If you are not offering samples but are still selling food items, please still comply with all applicable rules and have your necessary licenses or documentation on hand. BEFORE THE FAIR 1. Your application must be approved by the Giant Craft Show Committee. New crafters are required to submit pictures as described on the Picture Requirements page. There are no picture requirements for returning crafters. 2. Spaces are reserved in advance on a first come, first serve basis. Returning crafters may reserve their space from the previous year if they apply by February 15 th. Attempts will be made to keep crafters with similar items separated when possible. 3. A copy of your map indicating space choices must accompany your application. Every attempt will be made to keep crafters with similar items separated when possible, and this may necessitate moving you from your preferred spot. 4. After submitting your application, map and payment, you will be emailed or mailed (your choice as indicated on your application) a confirmation letter and map indicating your assigned space. If you choose to have your confirmation mailed, you must include a self addressed, postage paid envelope.

Page 2 of 2 SET UP/REGISTRATION/CLEAN UP 1. Set up time: 6am to 9am. Craft Show Open RAIN OR SHINE from 9am to 4pm. Your space must be cleared by 6pm. 2. The show is located on Ocean Pathway (between the Auditorium and the Boardwalk Pavilion) running from Ocean Avenue to Central Avenue. See www.oceangrove.org for directions. 3. Between 6am and 8:30am, staff members will direct you to an unloading area closest to your space for your convenience. Once your booth is set up, they will come around to inspect your merchandise and answer questions. Staff members will be available at the show all day. If you are in need of assistance, please visit the Information Booth. 4. You must be courteous to other crafters. Remove your car from the loading/unloading zone ASAP and BEFORE setting up your booth to allow others the opportunity to unload. Likewise, pack up your merchandise BEFORE loading your car at the end of the day to take the least amount of time to load. 5. Display handcrafted items only. If found with manufactured items, you will forfeit your space, fee & future participation. 6. Do not leave trash in your space at the end of the day. Do not overflow trash cans on the central pathway. 7. No alcoholic beverages. 8. In case of wind, you are required to use stakes to tie down your tent and bring your own weights. 9. Failure to follow the above rules may prevent your participation in future shows. PARKING 1. NO PARKING signs are posted for the benefit of crafters loading and unloading only. 2. Crafters must move from the NO PARKING zone to a legal parking space immediately after unloading. Tickets may be issued by the police if your vehicle is left in an illegal parking space after you are finished unloading or loading. 3. Driving on grass areas by crafters is prohibited. NO TRAILERS OR VEHICLES ON GRASS! 4. Please consider hotel guests (potential buyers) and unload quietly. There is an 8am noise ordinance. 5. Please consider having someone drive you to the show with your belongings and pick you up at the end of the day. This will provide more parking spaces for customers. If you can not be dropped off, see our Parking Suggestions on our website, oceangrove.org. FACILITIES 1. A Public bathroom facility is in front (southeast direction) of the Auditorium, just west of Central Ave. See map. 2. Food and drink will be available for purchase from food vendors. 3. Hotels are available for out-of-state crafters. Contact the Chamber of Commerce for lodging info: 732-774-1391. NO REFUNDS You have the option of writing off your submitted fee as a donation to our nonprofit organization if you choose not to attend. Additional information is available by calling Alison and Mark Mitchell: 732-775-0035 x119 / GiantCraftShow@oceangrove.org
