DIN 488-2: 2009 7.3.6.1 General Reinforcing steel bar of steel grade B500B shall have either two or four rows of transverse ribs. The reinforcing steel bar can be manufactured with or without longitudinal ribs (see Figures 1 a), 1 b) and Figure 2). 7.3.6.2 Transverse ribs 7.3.6.2.1 The transverse ribs shall be crescent-shaped in their longitudinal section and shall not merge into any longitudinal ribs present (see Figure 3 b)). 7.3.6.2.2 Transverse rib flanks shall be inclined at more than More than 40 40 (flank inclination ) and the transition from the rib to the core shall be radiused (see Figure 3 a)). 7.3.6.2.3 The transvese rib flank inclination to the bar axis 65 ( ) shall be 40 to 70. For rib rows with alternating inclination angles, these may be 35 to 75. 7.3.6.2.4 The dimensions and spacing of the transverse ribs shall be as shown in Table 4. 7.3.6.2.5 The sum of the spacing of the rib rows Σe shall not 21% exceed 25 % of the circumference. 7.3.6.3 Longitudinal ribs In the case of hot-rolled reinforcing steel bar, the 0.06d<015d height hl (by analogy with am in Figure 3 a)) of any longitudinal ribs present shall not exceed a value of 0,15 d. 7.3.6.4 Relative rib area The required values for the relative rib area fr are given in Table 4, column 6. For the basic population, the 5 % quantiles specified in DIN 488-1:2009-08, Table 2, shall be maintained. 8 Identification of the products The products shall be identified as specified in DIN 488-1:2009-08, clause 8. 9 roof of conformity roof of conformity to the requirements of this standard shall be provided as specified in DIN 488-6. 8/F, Block F, Guangdong Software Science ark, No.11 Caipin 2015-03-04 Road, Guangzhou Science City, Guangzhou 510663 page 4 of 8

DIN 488-1: 2009 7 Requirements 7.1 Manufacturing processes 7.1.1 Reinforcing steels complying with this standard shall be produced as follows: hot rolled, without subsequent treatment; or hot rolled and heat treated with the rolling heat; or hot rolled and cold stretched; or cold reduced (by drawing or cold rolling). 7.1.4 The manufacturing processes as in 7.1.1 to 7.1.3 shall remain at the discretion of the manufacturer as long as the proofs specified in DIN 488-6 have been provided. 8 Identification of the products 8.1 Identification of the steel grades The different steel grades for reinforcing steel are indicated by the surface geometry. Steel grade B500A is identified by 3 rows of ribs (see Figure 1) and steel grade B500B by 2 or 4 rows of ribs (see Figures 2 and 3). B500B, 2 rows 8.2 Identification of the manufacturer 8.2.1 General The reinforcing steels shall have a works identification mark as specified for each manufacturer. 8.2.2 Reinforcing steel bars 8.2.2.1 The country and manufacturer are each identified by a specific number of normal-width transverse ribs between widened or omitted transverse ribs according to the system illustrated in Figure 4. 8.2.2.2 The works identification mark begins with two widened or omitted transverse ribs. This is followed by the country number field with a specific number of transverse ribs of normal width, ending with a widened or omitted transverse rib. This is followed by a works number with a specific number of normal transverse ribs (see Figure 4); this field can also be subdivided by a widened or omitted transverse rib into tens and units. The end of the complete identification mark is indicated again by a widened or omitted transverse rib. 8.2.2.3 The works identification marks shall be repeated on the bar at an interval of not more than 1,5 m. 8.2.3 Reinforcing steel coils 8/F, Block F, Guangdong Software Science ark, No.11 Caipin 2015-03-04 Road, Guangzhou Science City, Guangzhou 510663 page 5 of 8

DIN 488-1: 2009 8.2.3.1 General Reinforcing steel coils have a works identification mark according to 8.2.2. In addition, a widened rib shall be included in another row of ribs, one rib shall be omitted, or a rib space filled in. 8.2.3.2 Hot rolled and stretched cold reduced reinforcing steel coil Hot rolled and cold reduced (cold stretched) reinforcing steel coils shall generally have a works identification mark for the stretching process. As a deviation from this rule, the works identification mark of the manufacturer that produced the hot rolled initial material may be used if: the stretching operation is an outside production facility of the manufacturer producing the unstretched initial material and procures its material exclusively from the latter; the manufacturer of the initial material takes responsibility for the factory production control up to and including the production of the stretched coil material, traceability is ensured, and the stretching operation is given as the manufacturer in the conformity certificate. 8.2.4 Welded fabrics 8.2.4.1 The works identification mark of reinforcing steels for the production of welded fabrics is determined by the number of transverse ribs between additional shorter or spot intermediate ribs (see Figure 5 a)). Identification can also be by providing larger rib spacings (i.e. by omitting one rib (see Figure 5 b)) or by using thicker ribs instead of these shorter intermediate ribs or spots. 8.2.4.2 In addition to the works identification mark on the individual bars, a label with details of the manufacturer of the welded fabric and steel grade of the products shall be affixed to a bundle of the welded fabrics. The labels shall be attached to a maximum of 20 welded fabrics each. 8.2.5 Lattice girders 8.2.5.1 Each individual bar of the lattice girders shall bear the works identification mark of the manufacturer. For lattice girders with ribbed or indented and plain bars, it is sufficient to provide only the ribbed or indented individual bars with a works identification mark. 8/F, Block F, Guangdong Software Science ark, No.11 Caipin 2015-03-04 Road, Guangzhou Science City, Guangzhou 510663 page 6 of 8

DIN 488-1: 2009 8.2.5.2 In addition to the manufacturer and production identification marks on the individual bars, a works identification mark shall be permanently affixed to a bundle of lattice girders by means of a captive label giving the manufacturer of the lattice girder and the product steel grade(s). 8.2.6 Reinforcing wire Indented reinforcing wire shall have a works identification mark corresponding to the ribbed bars as appropriate (for examples, see Figure 6 a) and Figure 6 b)). lain reinforcing wire shall also have a works identification mark consisting of spots or short longitudinal ribs. A label shall also be affixed to cold drawn reinforcing wire. If the plain reinforcing wire is used in lattice girders, the mark as described in 8.2.5 can be dispensed with provided the lattice girder manufacturer is also the manufacturer of the plain reinforcing wire. 8.3 Identification of the processor When the conformity certificate is issued by the recognized certification body, the processor of the reinforcing steel coils is granted a processor identification mark. In addition to the manufacturer s identification on the product, an identification mark for the decoiling operation shall be applied to the product or printed on a label affixed to each bundle. An identification mark is not required from the processor if he uses the straightened material directly for reinforcing prefabricated components. 8/F, Block F, Guangdong Software Science ark, No.11 Caipin 2015-03-04 Road, Guangzhou Science City, Guangzhou 510663 page 7 of 8
