Self-Assessment Checklist: Transition to Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 This document contains information about the new Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 and lists a range of evidence that an RTO could collect to demonstrate compliance with the Standards. The list of suggested evidence is not exhaustive. RTOs vary in size and scope and therefore the evidence requirements will vary from RTO to RTO. The evidence list is provided as a suggestion to assist you to consider the range of evidence that may be required for your RTO. Instructions 1. Read each standard 2. Review the list of suggested evidence 3. Consider whether your current policies and practices will enable you to gather sufficient evidence 4. Identify gaps in your existing systems and record in the space provided 5. Plan how you will address each of the identified gaps. Training and Assessment Standard 1: The RTO s training and assessment strategies and practices are responsive to industry and learner needs and meet the requirements of the training packages and VET accredited courses To be compliant with Standard 1 the RTO must meet the following: 1.1 The RTO s training and assessment strategies and practices, including the amount of training they provide, are consistent with the requirements of training packages and VET accredited courses and enable each learner to meet the requirements for each unit of competency or module in which they are enrolled. (Similar in coverage to Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations 2012: 15.2, 16.5) SUGGESTED EVIDENCE: Up to date Training and Assessment strategies for each qualification and each mode of delivery Industry consultation policy Evidence that the trainers/assessors have contributed to the development of the strategy Information about how learners are supported to meet the requirements of the course Appropriate facilities, lesson plans, resources and trainers GAPS TO BE ADDRESSED: Page 4
1.2 For the purposes of Clause 1.1, the RTO determines the amount of training they provide to each learner with regard to: a) the existing skills, knowledge and the experience of the learner; b) the mode of delivery; and c) where a full qualification is not being delivered, the number of units and/or modules being delivered as a proportion of the full qualification. 1.3 The RTO has, for all of its scope of registration, and consistent with its training and assessment strategies, sufficient: a) trainers and assessors to deliver the training and assessment; (Similar in coverage to Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations 2012: 15.4) b) educational and support services to meet the needs of the learner cohort/s undertaking the training and assessment; (Similar in coverage to Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations 2012: 16.5) c) learning resources to enable learners to meet the requirements for each unit of competency, and which are accessible to the learner regardless of location or mode of delivery; and (Similar in coverage to Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations 2012: 15.3) d) facilities, whether physical or virtual, and equipment to accommodate and support the number of learners undertaking the training and assessment.
