Job Description Job Title: Associate Vice President, Planning and Institutional Effectiveness Reports to: Vice President, Academic Quality and Success FLSA Status: Exempt Level: 217 Position Class: Job Summary: This position is responsible for coordinating collaborative College-wide planning; implementing and supporting institutional effectiveness processes; and generating and disseminating data analysis results. The provides support for and guides appropriate staff in the measurement of program quality, data analysis and continuous improvement. This position provides supervision and oversight to the resource development and institutional research departments and collaborates with cross-functional teams and other stakeholders. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following listing of essential job duties indicates the general nature and level of work required in this job. Provides leadership for College-wide strategic planning, with input from the College community as well as internal and external stakeholders. Coordinates the ongoing strategic planning process with support from the PEMT to ensure that individual departments work collaboratively to advance the mission and strategic objectives of the institution. 2. Facilitates the development and implementation of the College s Institutional Effectiveness Plan in a collaborative and decisive manner. 3. Leads the Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness Committee in the review and suggested modification of the mission and strategic plan. Reviews and suggests modifications to annual plans and annual reports. Provides continuous evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness Plan implementation to assure the College-wide effectiveness and continuous improvement of enhanced programs and services that help advance the mission and strategic priorities of the College. 4. Leads the formulation and oversight of the annual budget required to implement the needs and institutional effectiveness assessments and documentation processes required to evaluate Job Description (8/10) Page 1 of 5

the progress of the College in attaining its goals and fulfilling its mission. 5. Works closely with the VP, Academic Quality and Success (the SACS liaison), in support of accreditation, re-affirmation, level change and all substantive change communications as well as any ancillary reports thereto dealing with institutional effectiveness. 6. Engages actively in professional development, training and additional education relevant to the performance of essential duties of the position. 7. Provides training and professional development to appropriate SCF personnel regarding their roles in the institutional effectiveness of the College and the planning, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement related thereto. 8. Collaborates closely with the Vice President for Baccalaureate Programs regarding SACSrelated topics that impact the development of SACS applications and documentation required by SACS for approval of proposed bachelor degrees. 9. Coordinates the preparation of the institutional effectiveness and strategic planning portions of SACS reports for re-affirmation, substantive change and other required reports. 10. Coordinate needs assessment (environmental scan activities) among SCF. Collaborates closely with all vice presidents by providing appropriate data and contacts. 11. Guides program review efforts with AA and AS/AAS academic/administrative leadership, collecting and warehousing appropriate data and reports generated by departments and divisions. 12. Promotes a spirit of collegiality among all departments and divisions of the College, focusing on the benefits of the use of institutional effectiveness measures for departmental improvements; enhanced efficiency; compliant operations; and documented student learning and achievement. 13. Solicits recommendations for additional measures of Institutional Effectiveness. Facilitates the continuous improvement of and institutionalization of the College s comprehensive Institutional Effectiveness Plan. 14. Facilitates the authoring of research, surveys and analytical reports for both internal and external dissemination and guides the implementation of studies and outcome assessments that evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and services. 15. Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of data supplied in response to federal, state and local reporting requirements. 16. Supervises, coaches, evaluates and works collaboratively with the following functions: resource development, institutional research, institutional review board and institutional effectiveness. Education/Experience: Master s Degree from a regionally accredited university and five or more years related experience, including needs assessment, program development, governmental compliance and monitoring procedures, report writing, etc. Preferred Requirement: Earned Doctorate or terminal degree in the field of study (JD, MD, etc.) from a regionally accredited university. Supervisory Experience: More than five years of direct supervisory experience, including formal training in supervision, is required. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to technical questions and/or complaints from college leadership, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Math Ability: Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference to ensure a thorough understanding of the various research methodologies and implications of the educational studies relevant to fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of the job. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to translate theory, research and assessment results into practice that can lead to continuous improvement. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to work with formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc. Computer Skills: Working knowledge of word processing, database, spreadsheets, presentation, email and Internet software. Certificates and Licenses: None required. Responsibility for People and Property: Supervises resource development, institutional research, institutional review board and institutional effectiveness staff. Responsible for budgets for all areas under the above groups. Responsible for these groups equipment and materials acquisitions.
