These innovations come at a price, though, and some buyers may find the implementation costs a bit too steep. Microsoft s Dynamics AX offers a WMS system that enjoys strong integration with other AX applications. Buyers should be aware that there is a standard version of the system and an advanced version with more features. In either case, the system does not provide the same functional depth as other competitors. RedPrairie s system has developed a solid reputation for helping complex warehouses, thanks to its strong integration with other applications like yard, labor, and transportation management. Some analysts have cautioned that the company may not have enough staff and resources to manage this growing popularity. HighJump offers a WMS option for smaller businesses called Warehouse Advantage Express, which promises robust WMS functionality with the rapid implementation and specific configuration that small businesses need. More features can be added when the business grows, though this may be a costly undertaking. This company has had great success with small to midsize operations, due in part to its market-leading architecture. Despite this success, Sterling Commerce has not been able to match the sales of its competitors, and its system has not really been tested in larger operations.
