Project introduction 4
AFNeT & ProSTEP ivip associations are conducting the second STEP AP242 benchmark 5 n ISO STEP AP242 Ed1 is available n Objectives: Complete & neutral quality control of AP242 based implementations allow our communities to reach a status of maturity for these applications n Functionalities & systems to be benchmarked are given by the user communities n Test criteria formal correctness of the file fulfilment of end-to-end validation properties end-user validation n This project is composed of two work-packages : WP 1: CAD workpackage managed by AFNeT. WP 2: PDM workpackage managed commonly by ProSTEP ivip and AFNeT.
Roles of AFNeT & ProSTEP ivip 6 n AFNeT and ProSTEP ivip are hosting the STEP AP 242 Benchmark Activities and thereby guaranty the neutrality, comprehensiveness and quality of the benchmark performance and the results. n Both parties are collecting funding from the user community to contract all relevant services. The amount of this funding has directly influence on the amount of tests which are conducted within the benchmark. AFNeT: with member companies from manufacturing industry, IT, business and research, is the main actor in France for the promotion of IT standards and open systems since 30 years and has conducted STEP AP242 Benchmark n 1. ProSTEP ivip: 180 international member companies from manufacturing industry, IT business and research, contributes with experiences of 8 STEP Benchmarks and 5 JT Benchmarks over the last 20 years. n AFNeT and ProSTEP ivip care for the dissemination of the Benchmark results.

PDM information in scope 11 n In scope of benchmark #2: resolved product structure without configuration information Part number, name, description, version, creator, creation date, last modifier, last modification date, validation properties, PDM properties, (user defined attributes (UDA)?) Part classification 3D positioning matrix Instance name of each part usage (left front wheel, right rear wheel, etc.) CAD or non-cad Document number, name, description, version, creator, creation date, last modifier, last modification date, PDM properties, (UDA?) External file name, creator, creation date, last modifier, last modification date, PDM properties, (UDA?) Life cycle status (released, in work, etc.) n Out of scope of benchmark #2, probably in scope for Benchmark #3 next year if the item is currently in scope of PDM-IF test round: Configured assembly structure (i.e. option rules on the part usage links) Bill of material (product classes, product breakdown, product configuration, alternative parts, etc.) Change Management (Engineering Change Request, Engineering Change Order, Activities, Effectivities) All the topics not covered by the recommended practices See test suite document for exhaustive list & details which will be shared in 2 weeks

Software delivery methods 13 Participating Vendors will provide their product either via n Local installation with VM s virtual disk or via n Remote access: provide their VMs from a Vendor s DMZ, accessible from the internet, due to licence right inflection Specific requirements will be shared later. For both methods, changes on the product installation/configuration can be made only if agreed with the testing team.
Project website customized to ease the benchmarking project 14 Each vendor will be able to - See the progress done on his solution. - React on the issue analysis on the website - Receive email notifications
Publication of results report 15 n Targeting end of February 2017 n Two kind reports: Short report Public PDF on project website Long/detailed report For AFNeT & ProSTEP ivip members n Communication PDF & Printed Papers will be widely distributed Will be distributed in related community events Will be presented in ProSTEP ivip newsletters & Produkt Daten Journal Will be presented in AFNeT newsletters
Next 16 n Please rise your hand if you want to participate n Latest date to provide software to be tested: 9 th of December 2016 n STEP AP242 Benchmark PDM Test suite document will be shared in 2 weeks
