One type of the tape is available: Sikaplan WT Tape 200 Suitable Sikadur adhesives are: Sikadur-Combiflex CF Adhesive (type N) Sikadur-31 CF (type N) Note: The system configuration as described must be fully complied with and may not be changed. 2 2/5
Application Conditions / Instructions Application Method / Tools Substrate quality - Concrete: Minimum age of concrete 3-6 weeks, dependent on the environmental conditions. The substrate must be mechanically prepared e.g. by blast-cleaning, to be free from any cement laitance, damaged concrete, old surface treatments or coatings and then all loose or friable particles must be removed to achieve a contaminant free, open textured surface. The substrate must be dry or maximum mat damp. When applied to mat damp concrete, brush the adhesive well into substrate. Avoid condensation. The substrate temperature must be at least 3 Kelvin above the dew point. Application of adhesive: For full application details including substrate and ambient temperatures, storage, mixing, pot-life, consumption of the adhesive etc., please refer to the relevant Product Data Sheet for the adhesive. Application of the Tape: Where necessary clean the surface of the Sikaplan WT Tape 200 with a clean dry or damp cloth. Use water and do not use solvent for this cleaning. Check the integrity of the tape to ensure that there is no damage from storage or transport (e.g. heavy scratches). Remove any damaged sections if necessary. Apply the mixed Sikadur adhesive onto the prepared surface, using a suitable trowel. The bottom layer thickness of the adhesive should be a minimum of 2 mm. The adhesive should be applied to the surface generously. This is necessary to enable the top layer to be in direct contact with the bottom layer of adhesive ~ 10 mm on each side of the tape. Apply the Sikaplan WT Tape 200 within the open time of the adhesive. Press the tape firmly, without trapping air, into the adhesive using a suitable roller. The tape must be fully embedded into the adhesive and the adhesive should be squeezed out on both sides of the tape. Apply a top layer of adhesive along the edge of the tape for at least 4 cm onto the top of the Sikaplan WT Tape 200. The top layer may be smoothened with a brush. 3 3/5
Application Method / Tools For vertical or overhead application, the Sikaplan WT Tape 200 must be supported until the adhesive has hardened to prevent it peeling away from the adhesive and to ensure a good bond. Connecting the ends of Sikaplan WT Tape 200: Tape ends are connected by hot air thermal welding. The welding area must be prepared by roughening the surface with scotch brite pads or fine sand-paper. Roughen the tapes only in the welding area otherwise their adhesive bond can be affected negatively. Tape end overlaps have to be min. 40-50 mm. Welding parameters, such as speed and temperature must be established through trials on site, prior to the commencement of any welding works. Basic settings: 360-420 C Hand welding in the overlap area is carried out in three steps. 1. Spot weld the overlap 2. Pre-weld: weld the rear overlap area so that a 20 mm flap (using a 20 mm nozzle) remains for the final welding 3. Final weld: weld the remaining flap. Guide the roller at a distance of 20 mm parallel to the air outlet of the welding nozzle. Roll the pressure roller fully across the seam. Connecting the Sikaplan WT Tape 200 and Sikaplan WT membranes: The Sikaplan WT Tape 200 and Sikaplan WT membrane must be clean and dry, ready for hot- air welding. To ensure the optimum seam quality, seam preparation is required before hot-air welding. The welding area of the Sikaplan WT Tape 200 must be prepared by roughening the surface with scotch brite pads or fine sand-paper. Use Sarnafil T Prep (yellow) for the seam preparation and cleaning of Sikaplan WT membranes, as described in the Sikaplan WT FPO Sheet Waterproofing Membranes Application Manual. Welding parameters, such as speed and temperature must be established through trials on site, prior to the commencement of any welding works.
