Manz sets new standards with the quality of its process solutions and the reliability of its newly developed systems.
Manz Automation Tübingen GmbH is an independent subsidiary of Manz Automation AG, whose head office is in Reutlingen. The Tübingen facility concentrates on the automation of processes for the manufacture of carbide indexable inserts and automation in the life science sector. Other core skills involve packaging and the development of industrial-scale manufacturing processes for batteries destined for hybrid and electric cars. The Manz Group has sales and service subsidiaries in Germany, Taiwan, the USA, China, South Korea, India and Spain. It also has its own production facilities in Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, Taiwan and China.
AUTOMATION FOR CARBIDE INDEXABLE INSERTS From Powder to Box One of the main lines of business of the systems. aico division is the delivery of economical and highly efficient automation solutions for the manufacture of indexable inserts made from carbide or ceramic powder. The system solutions, which are based on standard packages, cover the automatic removal of the green pellets from the powder press, the loading and unloading of a wide variety of different types of machinery and process machines through to the fully automatic testing and packing of components. The automation concept revolves around powerful robots and reliable image processing systems combined with a highly flexible and intuitive user interface. In order to automate the individual manufacturing processes as economically and efficiently as possible, a range of standardized and well-known interfaces are required between the automation system and the process machines. This is especially important in the field of press automation, where robot and press work hand in hand. AUTOMATION FOR THE LIFE SCIENCE SECTOR Intelligent Sample Processing The systems.lab division automates research and analysis laboratories by installing compact and powerful robot platforms and workflow management systems. Manz offers a range of compact and space-saving laboratory robot platforms specifically designed for research and analysis labs. Their high-quality industry-standard components make them reliable, powerful and easy to upgrade. In addition, Manz uses workflow manager software to automate multiple lab workflows working in parallel in high-throughput facilities. In doing so Manz closes the gap between LIMS, laboratory robots and stand-alone laboratory equipment. Our pharmaceutical, chemical, biotechnology and diagnostics customers deploy these technologies in standardized and customized system solutions for sample preparation, compound logistics, formulating and various other applications. They achieve higher throughput at a lower cost better process quality and reliable documentation of sample and process data.
PACKAGING TECHNOLOGY Packaging The majer.products division produces machinery and systems for the manufacture of cardboard and foil packaging material. Its program includes systems for paper cans (tubular cans), cheese boxes and safety closures (capsules) for champagne and wine bottles. As paper cans are wound spirally, we also manufacture systems for cylindrical sleeves and tubes, most specifically yarn carriers for the synthetic fiber industry. SYSTEMS FOR THE INDUSTRIAL- SCALE PRODUCTION OF LITHIUM- ION BATTERIES FOR HYBRID AND ELECTRIC CARS Future Technology The foundation for this future-oriented division is the successful synergy between the know-how of high-tech machine builder Manz and the skills embodied in Majer, which has decades of experience in the paper and foil processing market. We provide complete solutions for the efficient production of paper cans and packaging applications, particularly in the food industry, where sealing requirements are very stringent. These do not confine themselves to machinery and systems, they also address material and process questions. This knowledge and our experience in the processing and working of paper and foil results in a range of synergies that benefit our business partners. The division is the driving force for new, future-oriented technologies in a wide variety of sectors. These technologies employ key Manz skills in the fields of robots, image processing, laser technology, metallization, wet chemistry, metrology, control and drive engineering and the processing of rolled material. One main area lies in the development and production of machinery and systems for the manufacture of lithiumion batteries. Besides the ongoing production of new system solutions, Manz Automation has set itself the task of pressing ahead with manufacturing technologies for the large-scale batch production of lithium-ion batteries. In addition to solar technology, Manz is therefore one of the prime movers in this sector for the massive electro-mobility market.
