KATA PENGANTAR Laporan ini mengandungi statistik sektor perdagangan edaran bagi Suku Pertama. Statistik sektor ini meliputi nilai jualan, bilangan pekerja dan gaji & upah. Data yang dikumpul menggunakan klasifikasi industri yang terperinci di dalam Piawaian Klasifikasi Industri Malaysia (MSIC) 2008 Ver. 1.0 yang selari dengan International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities Revision 4 oleh United Nations Statistics Divisions. Data sektor perdagangan edaran yang diterbitkan dalam laporan ini meliputi subsektor perdagangan borong, perdagangan runcit dan kenderaan bermotor. Maklumat tersebut digunakan terutamanya bagi tujuan membuat perancangan dan penggubalan dasar serta bagi pengunjuran dan analisis ekonomi oleh kerajaan, penyelidik dan pengguna lain. Nota teknikal berkaitan pendekatan dan metodologi yang digunakan dalam penyiasatan ini turut disertakan bagi meningkatkan kefahaman berkenaan dengan data tersebut. Jabatan Perangkaan ingin merakamkan setinggi-tinggi penghargaan kepada syarikat-syarikat, perniagaan dan organisasi yang terlibat yang telah memberikan kerjasama dalam membekalkan data yang diperlukan. PREFACE This report provides data on the distributive trade sector for the First Quarter. The statistics of the sector include sales value, number of persons engaged and salary & wages paid. The data canvassed are based on the detailed classification of industries in the Malaysia Standard Industrial Classification (MSIC) 2008 Ver. 1.0 which is in line with the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities Revision 4 of the United Nations Statistics Division. Data on the distributive trade sector published in this report encompasses wholesale trade, retail trade and motor vehicles sub-sectors. These information are primarily used for planning and policy formulation as well as for economic projection and analysis by the government, researchers and other users. Technical notes on the approach and methodology used in the survey are included to enhance the understanding of data. The Department of Statistics would like to express our appreciation to the companies, businesses and organisations for their cooperation in providing the required data. Subsektor Perdagangan Runcit mencatatkan peratus pertumbuhan tertinggi bagi nilai jualan iaitu sebanyak 11.2 peratus, diikuti dengan Perdagangan Borong, 7.1 peratus dan Kenderaan Bermotor, 4.4 peratus. Perbandingan nilai jualan bagi suku pertama dengan suku tahun sebelumnya menunjukkan peningkatan sebanyak 1.7 peratus daripada RM227.4 bilion kepada RM231.2 bilion. Nilai jualan bagi sektor Perdagangan Edaran bagi suku keempat 2013 telah dipinda kepada RM227.4 bilion. Jumlah pekerja dalam sektor ini adalah seramai 1.6 juta orang iaitu meningkat sebanyak 1.0 peratus atau 16,220 orang berbanding suku yang sama tahun sebelumnya. Perbandingan suku tahunan, bilangan pekerja meningkat sebanyak 0.4 peratus atau 6,774 orang. Sales value of the Distributive Trade sector recorded RM231.2 billion in the first quarter of with growth of 8.1 per cent as compared to the corresponding period of previous year. The Retail Trade sub-sector recorded the highest percentage growth in sales value, 11.2 per cent, followed by Wholesale Trade, 7.1 per cent and Motor Vehicles, 4.4 per cent. Comparison on sales value for the first quarter with the previous quarter shows an increase of 1.7 per cent from RM227.4 billion to RM231.2 billion. The sales value of Distributive Trade sector for the fourth quarter of 2013 has been revised to RM227.4 billion. Total number of persons engaged in this sector was 1.6 million persons with an increase of 1.0 per cent or 16,220 persons as compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Quarter-on-quarter, the number of persons engaged rose by 0.4 per cent or 6,774 persons. 1

N I L A I J U A L A N Perdagangan Borong Nilai jualan bagi subsektor Perdagangan Borong pada suku pertama meningkat sebanyak 7.1 peratus kepada RM115.9 bilion daripada setahun yang lalu. Bagi suku tahunan, subsektor ini mencatatkan peningkatan sebanyak 0.7 peratus. S A L E S V A L U E Wholesale Trade Sales value of the Wholesale Trade sub-sector for the first quarter of rose by 7.1 per cent to RM115.9 billion from a year ago. Quarter-on-quarter, this sub-sector recorded a growth of 0.7 per cent. Jualan Borong Makanan, Minuman dan Tembakau mencatatkan pertumbuhan tertinggi iaitu sebanyak 10.0 peratus. Ini diikuti oleh Jualan Borong Barangan Isi Rumah, 8.7 peratus dan Perdagangan Borong Tanpa Pengkhususan, 7.3 peratus. Wholesale of Food, Beverages and Tobacco recorded the highest growth, 10.0 per cent. This was followed by Wholesale of Household Goods, 8.7 per cent and Non-specialised Wholesale Trade, 7.3 per cent. Perdagangan Runcit Subsektor Perdagangan Runcit merekodkan peningkatan sebanyak RM8.3 bilion atau 11.2 peratus berbanding suku yang sama tahun sebelumnya. Bagi perbandingan suku tahunan, jualan subsektor ini berkembang sebanyak 2.8 peratus. Peningkatan ini adalah didorong oleh Jualan Runcit Bukan di Kedai, Gerai atau Pasar sebanyak 17.3 peratus, diikuti oleh Jualan Runcit Kelengkapan Informasi dan Komunikasi di Stor Pengkhususan sebanyak 16.4 peratus dan Jualan Runcit Makanan, Minuman dan Tembakau di Stor Pengkhususan, 15.4 peratus. Retail Trade Retail Trade sub-sector registered an increase of RM8.3 billion or 11.2 per cent as compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year. On a quarterly basis, sales of this sub-sector expanded by 2.8 per cent. The increase was driven by the Retail Sale Not in Stores, Stalls or Markets, 17.3 per cent, followed by Retail Sale of Information and Communication Equipment in Specialised Stores, 16.4 per cent and Retail Sale of Food, Beverages and Tobacco in Specialised Stores, 15.4 per cent. Kenderaan Bermotor Pada suku tahun ini, nilai jualan bagi Kenderaan Bermotor mencatatkan peningkatan sebanyak 4.4 peratus kepada RM32.6 bilion berbanding tempoh yang sama tahun lalu. Nilai jualan subsektor ini mencatatkan peningkatan sebanyak 2.4 peratus bagi suku tahunan. Motor Vehicles In this quarter, sales value of Motor Vehicles rose by 4.4 per cent to RM32.6 billion as compared with the same period of the last year. Sales value of this sub-sector recorded an increase of 2.4 per cent for quarter-on-quarter. Jualan, Penyelenggaraan dan Pembaikan Motosikal dan Komponen mencatatkan pertumbuhan tertinggi bagi nilai jualan iaitu sebanyak 7.4 peratus. Ini diikuti oleh Jualan Komponen dan Aksesori Kenderaan Bermotor sebanyak 5.5 peratus dan Penyelenggaraan dan Pembaikan Kenderaan Bermotor, 5.1 peratus. Sale, Maintenance and Repair of Motorcycles and Related Parts and Accessories recorded the highest growth of sales value by 7.4 per cent. This was followed by Sale of Motor Vehicles Parts and Accessories, 5.5 per cent and Maintenance and Repair of Motor Vehicles, 5.1 per cent. 2

Bagi perbandingan suku tahunan, bilangan pekerja menurun sebanyak 0.2 peratus atau 654 orang. Number of persons engaged rose by 0.5 per cent or 2,033 persons as compared to the corresponding quarter of 2013. On a quarterly basis, the number of persons engaged decreased by 0.2 per cent or 654 persons. Perdagangan Runcit Retail Trade Subsektor ini telah mencatatkan peningkatan sebanyak 1.2 peratus atau seramai 11,482 orang berbanding suku yang sama tahun sebelumnya. Bagi perbandingan suku tahunan, bilangan pekerja meningkat sebanyak 0.8 peratus atau 7,171 orang. This sub-sector registered an increase of 1.2 per cent or 11,482 persons compared to the same period of the previous year. Compared to the previous quarter, number of persons engaged rose by 0.8 per cent or 7,171 persons. Kenderaan Bermotor Motor Vehicles Bagi tahun ke tahun, bilangan pekerja meningkat sebanyak 1.1 peratus atau seramai 2,705 orang pada suku tahun ini. Perbandingan suku tahunan menunjukkan peningkatan sebanyak 0.1 peratus atau 258 orang. Year-on-year, the number of persons engaged increased by 1.1 per cent or 2,705 persons in this quarter. Quarter-on-quarter, the increase was 0.1 per cent or 258 persons. 3

NOTA TEKNIKAL / TECHNICAL NOTES 1. PENDAHULUAN Laporan ini menyediakan data sektor Perdagangan Edaran yang merangkumi Perdagangan Borong, Perdagangan Runcit dan Kenderaan Bermotor. Bermula tahun 2011, Penyiasatan Perdagangan Edaran Bulanan telah menggunakan rekabentuk pensampelan baru di mana pemilihan sampel adalah berasaskan kepada data Banci Perdagangan Edaran 2009 (tahun rujukan 2008). 1. INTRODUCTION This report provides information on the Distributive Trade sector including Wholesale Trade, Retail Trade and Motor Vehicles. Beginning 2011, the Monthly Survey of Distributive Trade is based on the new sample design whereby the sample selection is from the Census of Distributive Trade 2009 (reference year 2008). Data Banci Perdagangan Edaran 2009 telah digunakan sebagai penanda aras bagi penerbitan Perangkaan Perdagangan Edaran. Sehubungan itu, laporan ini akan menggantikan siri masa yang digunakan di dalam laporan sebelum ini. Data from Census of Distributive Trade 2009 was used as a benchmark in the publication of Quarterly Distributive Trade Statistics. Hence, this report will replaces the series used before in the previous reports. Siri ini membentangkan data perdagangan edaran bagi tahun 2008 hingga 2010 serta data suku tahunan bermula suku pertama 2011 hingga suku pertama. Data yang terdapat dalam laporan ini meliputi keseluruhan industri seperti yang dikelaskan di bawah kategori G dalam Piawaian Klasifikasi Industri Malaysia (MSIC), 2008 Ver. 1.0. Ia selaras dengan International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities, Revision 4, United Nation Statistics Division. This series presents distributive trade data for years 2008 to 2010 and quarterly data from first quarter 2011 to first quarter. Data contained in this report covered all industries as classified under Category G of the Malaysia Standard Industrial Classification (MSIC), 2008 Ver. 1.0. It follows International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities, Revision 4, United Nation Statistics Division. 2. OBJEKTIF Objektif utama penerbitan ini adalah untuk membentangkan maklumat jualan, pekerja dan gaji & upah dalam subsektor perdagangan borong, perdagangan runcit dan kenderaan bermotor. Data tersebut digunakan bagi tujuan membuat perancangan dan penggubalan dasar serta bagi pengunjuran dan analisis ekonomi oleh kerajaan, penyelidik dan pengguna lain. 2. OBJECTIVE The main objective of this publication is to present sales, employment and salaries & wages data in the wholesale trade, retail trade and motor vehicles sub-sectors. These data are used for planning and policy formulation as well as for economic projection and analysis purposes by the government, researchers and other users. 3. SKOP DAN LIPUTAN Penyiasatan ini meliputi pertubuhan dalam subsektor perdagangan borong, perdagangan runcit dan kenderaan bermotor secara pensampelan. 3. SCOPE AND COVERAGE This survey covered all registered establishments engaged in the wholesale trade, retail trade and motor vehicles sub-sectors on a sample basis. 19

CONCEPTS AND DEFINITIONS Konsep dan definisi perdagangan edaran yang digunapakai dalam penerbitan ini berasaskan kepada saranan di dalam Manual International Recommendations for Distributive Trade Statistics 2008 (IRDTS 2008) yang diterbitkan oleh United Nations Statistics Division. The concepts and definitions of distributive trade adopted in this publication is based on the Manual of International Recommendations for Distributive Trade Statistics 2008 (IRDTS 2008) published by the United Nations Statistics Division. 4.1 Perdagangan Borong 4.1 Wholesale Trade Perdagangan borong ditakrifkan sebagai : Wholesale trade is defined as: penjualan semula (tanpa pengubahsuaian) barangan baru dan barang yang telah digunakan kepada peruncit, pengguna perindustrian, perdagangan, institusi atau profesional; atau kepada pemborong lain; atau menjual dagangan kepada orang atau syarikat berkenaan. the resale (sale without transformation) of new and used goods to retailers; industrial, commercial, institutional or professional users; or to other wholesalers; or selling merchandise to, such persons or companies. Pemborong selalunya memasang, memilih dan menklasifikasikan barang dalam lot-lot besar; memecahkan muatan yang besar, membungkus semula dan membotol (kecuali bekas yang kedap udara) dan membahagi semula kepada lot-lot kecil; menyimpan, menyejuk, menghantar dan memasang barang dan juga turut serta dalam promosi jualan untuk pelanggan dan rekabentuk label. 4.2 Perdagangan Runcit Perdagangan runcit ditakrifkan sebagai : penjualan semula (jualan tanpa pengubahsuaian) barang baru dan terpakai kepada orang awam untuk kegunaan peribadi atau isi rumah. 4.3 Kenderaan Bermotor Aktiviti ini meliputi jualan secara borong dan runcit kenderaan bermotor dan motosikal, sama ada baru atau terpakai, jualan alat-alat ganti dan aksesori kenderaan, penyelenggaraan dan pembaikan kenderaan bermotor dan motosikal termasuk mencuci, mengilap serta agen komisen. Wholesalers frequently physically assemble, sort and grade goods in large lots; break bulk, repack and bottle (except in air-tight containers) and redistribute in smaller lots; store, refrigerate, deliver and install goods as well as engage in sales promotion for customers and label design. 4.2 Retail Trade Retail trade is defined as: the resale (sale without transformation) of new and used goods to the general public for personal or household consumption or utilisation. 4.3 Motor Vehicles This activity covers wholesale and retail sale of motor vehicles and motorcycles, either new or used, sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles including washing, polishing as well as commission agents. 20

Pertubuhan ditakrifkan sebagai satu unit ekonomi yang bergiat dalam satu aktiviti di bawah penguasaan tunggal yang sah dan beroperasi di satu lokasi fizikal. 5. REPORTING UNIT The survey was conducted on an establishment basis. An establishment is defined as an economic unit that engaged in one activity, under a single legal entity and operating in a single physical location. TOTAL NUMBER OF PERSONS ENGAGED Jumlah pekerja termasuk semua pemilik yang bekerja dan rakan niaga yang aktif, pekerja keluarga yang tidak bergaji dan pekerja bergaji yang bekerja pada tempoh gaji terakhir bagi bulan penyiasatan. Not included are workers on indefinite leave as well as pensioners. 8. GAJI & UPAH 8. SALARIES & WAGES Ini merujuk kepada pembayaran tunai, termasuk bonus, komisen, bayaran lebih masa, elaun kos sara hidup, dan elaun-elaun lain yang dibayar kepada semua pekerja bergaji. Walaupun caruman pekerja untuk Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja (KWSP) dan Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO) turut dimasukkan, caruman oleh majikan adalah dikecualikan. This refers to cash payments, including bonuses, commissions, overtime wages, cost of living and allowances made to all employees. While the employees contributions to Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) are included, the employer s contributions are excluded. 9. KUASA PERUNDANGAN 9. CONFIDENTIALITY REQUIREMENTS Maklumat yang dikumpul adalah mengikut peruntukan di bawah Akta Perangkaan 1965 (Disemak - 1989). Seksyen 5 di bawah Akta ini mengkehendaki mana-mana pertubuhan yang beroperasi di Malaysia untuk memberikan maklumat sebenar atau anggaran terbaik kepada Jabatan. Mengikut Akta ini, kandungan soal selidik pertubuhan / individu yang diterima adalah SULIT dan tidak boleh dihebahkan kepada sesiapa atau mana-mana institusi di luar Jabatan ini.
