The project made a significant contribution to the growing development of the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Roswell Town Center, Roswell, Georgia Project architect for the development of this 150,000 S.F. shopping mall at a cost of $ 6 million. Involved in the schematic design, design development and construction documents phases. The mall, which is located at the suburbs of Atlanta, needed extensive renovation for conversion of the existing structure into a power-center. Two feature entrance plazas were designed for this center including a new theme entrance for a movie theater complex. Lutherville Station Shopping Center, Lutherville, Maryland Project architect for the renovation of this existing shopping mall to be converted into a power center. The project provided 150,000 S.F. of retail space at a cost of $ 4.5 million. Developed the project through all phases of design and into construction documents. In addition to interior space improvements the scope included redesign of the exterior and adding landmark features at the entrances, converting a portion of the building into office space and the addition of new retail space. OFFICES / CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS / COLLEGIATE UMBC Research Park, Catonsville, Maryland Project manager for an office park totaling 500,000 S.F. of office and research laboratory space on the campus of the University of Maryland Baltimore County. The park planned to accommodate five office buildings of various sizes and utilizing the proximity of the university campus for internship opportunities. LEED evaluation was performed for the overall site and the buildings. Etisalat Regional Office Headquarters, Dubai, United Arab Emirates Team leader for the development of the new headquarters for the Ministry of Telecommunications. The high-rise office building of 144,000 S.F. and an estimated budget of $ 12 million included state of the art telecommunication and Satellite facility, administrative offices, customer service offices, meeting rooms and a multi-story parking garage. King Farm F4, Rockville, Maryland Team architect on the construction documents of the new 235,000 S.F., six story, class A office at Irvington Center. Coordination and quality control on this elaborate, precast concrete panel elevation and the upscale building lobby. Corvis Corporation Headquarters, Columbia, Maryland Project manager on the design and construction documents of the new 150,000 S.F. mixed office and technology research laboratories fit out for this large information systems entity. The building was one of several planned as part of a large complex of the corporate office campus. HOSPITALITY / RECREATION Soma Bay Sheraton Resort, Ras Soma, Egypt Project lead architect on the design and construction documentation of an international effort financed by World Bank to develop a number of resorts on the Ras Soma bay of the Red Sea. The team which involved British design firms and US landscape architects developed this 300-guest room resort of 1.2 million S.F. at a cost of $ 50 million. Also developed an array of small recreational beachfront buildings for a variety of recreational activities. These included diving club, sailing club, beach bar, beach restaurant, tennis club with tensile tent structure, gymnasium with locker rooms, squash club with a glass wall court, amphitheater and sauna building. The design capitalized on the innovative use of local finish materials to engage the user in a unique theme experience. Ras Soma Robinson Club Resort, Ras Soma, Egypt Project team architect on the design and construction documentation of an international effort financed by World Bank to develop a number of resorts on the Ras Soma bay of the Red Sea. The team which involved German and US design firms developed this 250 guest room resort of 900,000 S.F. at a cost of $ 35 million. The design conformed to the recreational cycle of Robinson Club and engaged an array of building types. Beachfront recreation was achieved through a variety of small recreational buildings that included restaurants, shaded gathering areas, diving club, sauna building, pavilions and sitting pools. Entertaining exterior space and landscaping was an integral of the outdoor recreational value of this complex. The innovative use of local finish materials was utilized. Cello Restaurant (2941 Fairview), Falls Church, Virginia Project manager for the design and building shell construction documentation for this five-star chef driven restaurant in the Washington DC area. Client contact and directed the coordination efforts for the different engineering disciplines as well as kitchen designers. El-Gouna Resort Complex Development, Hurgada, Egypt Project manager for the design and planning of this multi-use and five-star resort/hotel conglomeration as a representative of the Italian architectural firm commissioned with the task. This project covering a 1.5 mile-long of prime Red Sea beach-front currently houses the El-Gouna Golf Hotel and Club designed by Michael Graves. Performed site master planning, evaluation, and development. Also involved in the preparation of an environmental impact report to minimize the projects effect on the sensitive unique marine environment. Hotel / Commercial Complex, Dubai, UAE Project Manager for the design of this downtown Dubai, 140 guest-room three-star hotel. The 230,000 square-foot building also housed several ethnic restaurants, a tensile-structure three-story high tented courtyard, a swimming pool and a street level shopping area over a two-story underground parking garage. Buckroe Fishing Pier, Hampton, Virginia Project Manager and lead architect the design of this 2,000 square-foot fishing pier replacing an existing one that was destroyed in a hurricane. The new pier is aimed at reviving the beach front community and includes ticketing booth, retail space for fishing supplies and refreshments as well as public restrooms. The site was also redesigned to provide new parking area and comply with ADA accessibility requirements. Mona Lake Park Pavilion and Recreational Grounds, Muskegon Heights, Michigan Project Architect on the renovation and expansion of this 4,000 square-foot lake front public park pavilion managed by the City of Muskegon Heights. The program involved the creation of an enclosed multipurpose room and providing ADA compliant public access to the two floors of the facility. Also the design for a child playing area housing a variety of child playing equipment was part of the enhancement program. The innovative use of vandal resistant materials was crucial to integrating the casual community recreational image with the low maintenance budget of the building. Mona Lake Park Boat Launch Facility, Muskegon Heights, Michigan Project Architect on the reconfiguration and expansion of the boat launch ramp and associated parking area managed by the City of Muskegon Heights. The program involved the reconfiguration of the parking area to accommodate or efficient use and more parking space to enhance both the service in the ailing parking area and the revenue of the facility. NURSING HOMES Ravenwood Nursing, Baltimore, Maryland Project architect for the renovation of an existing nursing home located in the downtown Baltimore area. The scope of work for this 300-bed facility of 20,000 S.F. included refinishing the interiors, redesign of the nurse stations and resurfacing the concrete structure of an under-structure parking garage. Catered Living Facility, Towson, Maryland Project architect for this new 24 apartment catered living facility located in Baltimore suburban area. Designed as part of a larger campus that included a dining hall serving an able bodied elderly population. Code compliance study and coordination of all engineering aspects. RESEDENTIAL Beach front private residence, Muscat, Oman Design architect of record for this small property designed to meet client requirements in terms of full accessibility to beach views from all interior points. The residence maintains a small scale exterior and maximizes interior space utilizing open plan and non-orthogonal geometry. Beach house residence, Uroa, Zanzibar, Tanzania Design architect of record for this small property designed as a beach house on the Indian Ocean facilitating full immediate access to the beach. Local vernacular and materials were utilized to maintain a local connection. Private Residence, Michamvi Heights, Zanzibar Design architect of record for this one of a kind ocean view residence. The property is located on the highest point of the main island and is designed to maintain privacy as well as command a panoramic view of the beach from a cliff setting. A cliff top terrace acts as a roof to a cliff guest house / studio to tally concealed from the main residence while enjoying the full tropical beach view. Family residence compound development, Dimani, Zanzibar Design architect of record for a beach front family compound residence of five private houses including beach front homes and central family gathering place, playground, outdoor pergola and grilling area as well as a small farm area in the back of the property to promote sustainability of the local environment and support the local economy. Apartment building, Muscat, Oman Design architect of record for this rental property for a five story structure and 10 apartments taking advantage of an impressive mountain side view. The total built area of 35,000 square feet was designed to maximize profitability, meet local building regulations and provide an attractive selling design. DISTRIBUTION FACILITIES /WAREHOUSES / INDUSTRIAL Frito-Lay Mid-Atlantic Distribution Facility, Fairfax, Virginia Project manager for the design and construction of this new storage and distribution facility providing 18 loading docks with levelers of various capacity and sizes. The 90,000 S.F. pre-manufactured steel frame sheltered a large warehouse and administrative offices. The site also accommodated a 2,000 S.F. vehicle maintenance facility with fuel tanks and containment area. A & E Plastics Office and Distribution Facility, Elgin, Illinois loading dock configuration and administrative offices. This design-build project provided 40,000 S.F. structure at a cost of $3 million. Mars Multi-Tenant Distribution Facility, Tinely Park, Illinois loading dock configuration and administrative offices. This design-build project provided 60,000 S.F. structure at a cost of $5 million. The facility accommodated the dynamics and flexibility required by a large multi-tenant operation. Carol Stream Distribution Facility, Carol Stream, Illinois loading dock configuration warehouse and administrative offices.
