Smart-binder Plus HS Completely variable page counts from 4 to 200 pages 100% booklet integrity. Web speeds up to 200 meters/min (650 f.p.m) 14

3-side trimmer Smart-binder Plus HS Stitcher Sheet and cover collector ISG cold gluing (SB3 only) Plow-Folder Optional cover feeder Finished book delivery Reject bin For wire -stitched or ISG cold-glued books up to 10mm thick Sheet input from: - digital printer - unwinder cutter or - pile feeder 15

Smart-binder System Configurations In-Line: fed directly from the printer (via a cutter/sheeter if using a web printer) Near-Line: fed from a roll unwinder cutter Off-Line: fed from a high-speed sheet pile feeder 16

In-line Smart-binder 17

Smart-binder SB-2 / SB-3 In-Line Layout 18

Near Line 19

Smart-binder SB-3 Near-Line System Layout 20

Off line 21

SB-095 Sheet Pile Feeder for off-line operation Feeds sheets at up to 6 sheets /second (1,440 pages/ min.) Proven feed reliability and endurance Equipped with missing and double sheet detection Optional PLT-100 pile loading trolley available Option for Sheet pile feeder on the side (SB-096) of an in-line connected Smart-binder 22

Smart-binder SB-2 / SB-3 Off-Line System Layout 23

Smart-binder USPs Very heavy duty design for 7 x 24hr operation Can run in-line with highest speed digital web printers and produce booklets at 12,000 bph (2-up). Bar code tracking of sheets and auto-book reject On demand operation and ability to vary book thickness on-the-run (to suit books of one ). Dynamic stitching automatically adjusts stitch size for each book Individual sheet folding for excellent book lay-flat and maximum 10mm book thickness. 3-side trimming for optimum finished book quality Large range of available options 24

Typical Smart-binder Applications Personalised documents (or any very short-run jobs) Time critical documents (where finished books are required as quickly as possible after receipt of print files). Legal and financial documents. Government Papers. Health care plans and Insurance policies. Examination papers. Product manuals Sheet music CD and DVD booklets. Short-run magazines (eg: low volumes samples to test consumer feedback) Sporting event programmes Etc 25

Smart-binder specifications 26

IBIS Smart-binder folds sheets individually Other booklet-makers fold sheets together Each incoming sheet is scored and plow folded individually (before collection). This maximizes finished booklet quality (thick books lay flatter) Sheets are first collected into sets (multiple sheets together) and then plow folded all together. Fold tightness is reduced. Thick books have larger gape in center 27

Smart-binder Plus HS Three Knife Trimmer Positive indexing booklet transport thru trimmer for 7,000 cycles/hour NO adjustment needed for variable booklet thickness High-torque trimmer drive for booklets up to 10mm (0.39 ) thick 28

Smart-binder Data Integrity & Controls 29

Smart-binder Data Integrity & Controls Integrated native controls and software track each sheet Data-rich log file is created on each run Each sheet is checked for sequence and readability Log file creates an audit trail, and an individual booklet number can be assigned Cover-to-text matching also available Customer can choose desired barcode symbology Smart-binder is widely used in high-integrity applications - Health Care HIPPA - Security testing. - Surgical device instruction booklets 30

Smart-binder Book thickness variable on the run Trimmer requires no adjustment for book thickness change ISG gluing applied automatically and allows thickness change on-the-run New for 2015! Dynamic stitching automatically adjusts staples on-the-run to suit book thickness 31

New! Dynamic Stitching (Option ASA-100) Automatically adjusts staples on-the-run to suit book thickness Allows for constantly varying number of pages Total wire length, approx. 35mm Total wire length, approx. 23 mm Maximum book thickness (10 mm) Minimum book thickness (2 sheets) 32

High input speeds Last sheet of 24-page booklet 4-page sheets (unfolded) at 137 metres/min (450 feet/min) web speed (no buckle folding needed) 33

With F-100 buckle folder First buckle-fold 8-Page folded sheet: max. 200 m/min (650 f.p.m) web speed 34

Dynamic Buckle Folding 8 OR 12-page folded signature. Dynamic folder can vary these on the run, enabling web speeds of up to 200 m/min (650 f.p.m) building booklets in 4- page increments by making booklets with a mixture of 8 and 12 pagers. 35

Smart-binder system Customization System is highly customizable. Custom features can be added for customer applications Smart-binder integrates well with 3 rd -party systems, envelope inserters, knife folders, stackers, and others 36

IBIS Smart-binder PLUS HS binding options One modular system THREE different binding options 37

SB-2 / SB-3 / SB-4 Binding Options SB-2 SB-3 SB-4 Side glue Wire staples (stitches) ISG cold glue ISG cold glued signatures Hot-melt spine glue 38

1/ Conventional Wire stitching available with all Smart-binder models 39

2/ IBIS s unique patented ISG (Individual Sheet Gluing) Process. Available with models SB-3 and SB-4 40

ISG Glue Process (continued) Sheets are cold-glued together at the fold, instead of conventional wire stitching. Creates stitchless Booklet with very strong page pull strength and excellent lay-flat properties ISG Glue Applicator nozzle Allows the SB to run variable page-count booklets. Can continually vary thickness from minimum to maximum WITHOUT stopping for stitching adjustments 41

ISG glue Process (continued) ISG gluing Produces a booklet with better lay flat characteristics an advantage for mailing operations ISG cold glued Wire stitched 42

3/ Perfect binding using ISG-glued signatures (available with model SB-4) 43

Smart-binder Optional Modules 44

Smart-buffer module (SBS-100) Sheets out to Smartbinder Sheets in from web cutter The SBS-100 buffer module may be used in between the web cutter and the Smart-binder in order to remove the hard coupling between the printer and the in-line Smartbinder. 1/ The SBS-100 enables a small proportion of very thin booklets (mixed with thicker booklets) to be produced at reduced Smartbinder speed, while the in-line printer can continue running at normal running speed. 2/ The SBS-100 enables the Smart-binder to stop for a short time (1-2 minutes) without stopping the printer, which reduces down time and improves system operating efficiency. 3/ The SBS-100 may also be used to produce very thin booklets which are continually varying in number of pages, by allowing the Smart-binder to run a fixed cycling rate (continuous operating mode). 45

Buckle-folder(s) F-100 and RF-100 F-100 pre folds each sheet before it enters the Smart-binder (doubles web speed) RF-100 rotates each sheet 90 degrees and then folds it before it enters the Smart-binder (allows A5 books to be made from A3 sheets ) 46

BSS-11 stacker Connects directly to Smart-binder book delivery conveyor Stacks up to 330mm high 47

Dynamic Perforation Module DMP-100 Dynamic perforation module perforates sheets on demand 48

Side-Mounted Pile Feeder SB-096 sheet pile feeder on the side. Permits in-line operation from the web, OR off-line from cut-sheet piles 49

Pile Feeder Trolley System PLT-100 Allows rapid reload of SB-095 or SB-096 sheet pile feeder to minimize machine stop time while reloading 50

Many additional Smart-binder options are available (refer to IBIS for details) Insert sheet feeder(s) Hole punching or hole drilling Auto stop - stitch RF-100 Rotator and folder Dynamic buckle folding. Knife folding 51
