Mpower has been providing a range of services to individuals and families in the south west for over 30 years. The organisation emerged to meet the needs of families of children with disabilities in the Warrnambool region at a time when only institutional models and city based services were available. Over time the operation of Mpower has grown from a small voluntary service to an accredited agency employing in excess of 60 staff and providing a range of support services to over 800 families regionally. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITES: This position aims to support children with disabilities aged 0-6 years and their families by providing specialist occupational therapy services within a Key Worker framework. This will include working with children accessing Better Start and Helping Children with Autism funding. Develop individual plans for children with disabilities in collaboration with their families/carers and other staff including identifying and addressing needs As part of a team implement educational play based programs Conduct Key Worker responsibilities for designated children and their families incorporating inclusion support to children within their generic services as requested by families and transition support to children and their families when moving to school or other service systems Within the Key Worker role provide service coordination, emotional support, information and consultancy Maintain written records of interventions with and/or on behalf of children and their families Monitor and evaluate client s progress Provide 1:1 interactions and small group service Identifying through observation and formal assessment children s developmental needs To plan, develop and implement instructional treatment and skill development for children Case load management through prioritising client and family needs Attend staff meetings and whole agency meetings as required and contribute to OH&S, risk management, strategic planning and continuous quality improvement Participate in Mpower work practice protocols that includes supervision, work plans and appraisal Maintain up to date client files and provide written reports as required Meet Department of Education and Early Childhood Development services data requirement Represent the agency by demonstrating a high level of professionalism and conduct within the agency and community Maintain confidentiality Other duties as negotiated by the Early Intervention Manager KEY SELECTION CRITERIA: Applicants should address the following in their applications: Qualifications: Mandatory: Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy (Degree) Member of OT Australia Demonstrated knowledge and practice of Family Centered Service delivery Demonstrated skills in assessment, planning and implementation of individual children s programs with a team context 2
Demonstrated ability to effectively liaise with parents, professionals and universal services Satisfactory Police Check / Working with Children s Check.
