Construction Safety Today ~ 1,200 workers die each year in the Construction Industry! In contrast we lost 750-800 service men and women every year in Iraq at the peak! The construction industry reported nearly 200,000 disabling work-related injuries in 2007. Falls continue to be the leading cause of death. Hispanic workers and Laborers are the most at risk. 10

Performance Discussion Why have injury rates dropped while death rates remain steady? Is construction just Inherently Dangerous? Are we Focused on the Right Things? Are Unsafe Acts and Behaviors the only problem? Could WE be part of the problem? 24
