Service Programme for Cable Systems As a supplier of MV- and HV-cable systems with several decades of experience, CCC GmbH Berlin offers the full range of services and maintenance for cable systems. We are your competent partner for planning and execution of extensions or alterations of existing cable systems, such as rerouting and modification, transition of oil-filled cables to XLPE-cables and rearrangements in new substations. We offer optimal solutions using stateof-the-art techniques and ensuring a high grade of safety and reliability.

Service and Maintenance for oil-filled-cable Systems Repair- and Reconstruction-Works For emergency cases, CCC GmbH Berlin offers a 24 h emergency service. The safe operation of an oil-filled-cable system is based on a permanent overpressure of the insulating oil inside the oil-filled-cable system and consequently the system requires to be absolutely leakproof. Due to increasing requirements for environmental protection the German Wasserhaushaltsgesetz (WHG = Water Conservation Law) prohibits any ingress of oil into the soil comprehensive control- and maintenance-services for the operation of an oil-filled-cable system are required. For all these services, we have jointing teams and service engineers with many years of experience in the installation and maintenance of oil-filled-cable systems. In order to guarantee a safe and reliable operation, CCC GmbH Berlin offers the following services: expertises on the state of the oil-cable system, based on lifetime records, inspections and analyses checks, tests and preventive measures condition of the insulating oil filling factor: measurement and evaluation dielectrical strength gas-in-oil analysis jacket test (test on corrosion protection) check of oil pressure tanks (pressure-volume-test) check of oil-feeding-system (pressure gauges, pipes, valves) high voltage test Measures to increase the lifetime, resulting in a reduction of life cycle costs (TCO, total cost of ownership) We issue official certificates for the performed and passed tests. locating of leaks (freezing method with liquid nitrogen) repair of oil leaks using special repair sleeves repair of damages to the outer corrosion protection repair of oil leaks at joints by rebuilding the wiping solder seal and reinforcement by cast resin an glass-fibre, also as preventive measure rebuilding of the corrosion protection of damaged joints repair of failed accessories and cables (e.g. break-down due to mechanical damage) training of the client s jointers or installation by the client s personnel under our supervision disposed of all materials dismanteled according to the national legislation All necessary installation and measuring equipment as well as joints, terminatons, repair-/replacement-materials, special tools, cable oil, consumables and spare parts can be supplied by us. We offer our services either on the basis of individual single orders or under a long-term service contract. These service contracts include the repair of cable failures.

Delivery of oil-filled-cable Accessories Our range of accessories for low-pressure oil-filled cables (60 145 kv, 245 kv) and for transition of low-pressure oil-filled cables to XLPE-cables covers the following: Outdoor termination 50 245 kv, for low-pressure oil-filled cables, for indoor and outdoor application, with porcelain- or composite-insulator, for various climatic conditions and different pollution classes (creepage distance). GIS-/transformer termination 50 245 kv, for low-pressure oil-filled cables, for cable connections to SF6- switchgears and transformers, cast resin insulator according to IEC 60859. Straight through joint 50 245 kv, for low-pressure oil-filled cable connections for different conductor materials (AI/Cu) and crosssections. Stop joint 50 170 kv, for low-pressure oil-filled cable connections, for different conductor materials (AI/Cu) and crosssections, screen separation possible, for application in buildings or directly laid in ground. Transition joint 33 170 kv, for the transition from XLPE-cables to low-pressure oil-filled cables, single-core transition joint with screen separation, inner epoxy insulator according to IEC 60859, at the XLPE-side with high voltage plugin connector, trifurcating (splitting) box for 3-core-cables. For 33 kv and 66 kv three-core-solutions are available.

Dismantling and Disposal of oil-filled-cable Systems When dismantling an oil-filled-cable system, environmental protection is of major importance. The oil-paper insulation of low-pressure oil-filled cables consists of high-grade insulating papers which are impregnated with high viscosity cable oil. The insulation oil inside the cable is permanently under overpressure. The greater portion of the cable oil is bound in the paper (approx. 65%), the remaining part is freely moving in the conductor, the oil channel and between core and metal sheath. The used cable oils are mainly mineral oils, but some manufacturers use synthetic oils as well (e.g. polyisobuthene). In general, these oils are non-toxic (PCB-free) and do not contain harmful substances. Nevertheless, they are classified in Germany as dangerous to ground and water, according to the so-called Class 1 of water-endangering liquids (WGK1). All works in connection with dismantling and disposal of oil-filled-cable systems have to comply with the requirements of the Water Conservation Law, i.e. these works have to be carried out by approved specialized companies. CCC GmbH Berlin has a long standing experience in the erection of oil-filledcable systems. We are familiar with the physical processes in the oil-hydraulic system of cable and accessories. For all dismantling and disposal works we guarantee the use of appropriate technologies, which are in strict accordance with all environmental requirements and laws. CCC GmbH Berlin is approved/certified by official authorities as specialized company for oil-filled-cable systems according to 19 1 of the German Water Conservation Law. The most important steps of dismantling and disposal are: Taking an oil sample for detection of toxic components (PCB) Cutting the cable length in suitable sections according to the route profile in order to blow out the freely moving oil, sealing of the individual sections Extraction of the freely moving oil by compressed air and/or vacuum Cutting and sealing of the cut-lengths for transportation The length of cut cable pieces depends on the means of transport. Longer sections can be wound on drums. In other cases, oil-tight containers are used, the cables are cut in appropriate lengths and are sealed. The above-mentioned steps of dismantling are performed in a way that no oil can contaminate the soil, which is the main objective of the water conservation law (WHG) and which is the most important criteria for a certification by TÜV as approved specialized company. 10

Training Programmes CCC GmbH Berlin offers training courses for jointers including a practical (on-the-job) training regarding the installation of medium- and high- voltage cable accessories. The training course for the installation of paper-insulated mass-impregnated cable installation has a duration of 2 weeks and includes the installation of transition joints (plastic-insulated cables to paper-insulated mass-impregnated cables). We also offer a 1-week-training course regarding the installation of accessories for plastics-insulated cables. Our training courses cover the theoretical basics of cable and accessory technique, conductor/ sheath connection technique, environmental aspects of installation as well as safety provisions during installation works. The dismantling of oil-filled-cables of course also comprises dismantling and disposal of terminations, joints, stop joints, tanks, oil pipes, gauges, fittings etc. All these works have to be carried out in strict accordance with environmental requirements as well. Besides adherance to the water conservation law, we guarantee the fulfilment of the following laws/regulations: regulations regarding used oil regulations regarding disposal of waste materials regulations regarding handling and transport of dangerous goods on roads road traffic regulations We issue documentary evidence regarding the fulfilment of the abovementioned regulations. Based on our competence and experience, we take over the full responsibility for all works carried out on oil-filled-cable systems and consequently release the client from any responsibility/risk. A respective certificate is handed over to the client. Our reference list shows an extract of our oil-filled-cable dismantling projects. All works have been carried out to the full satisfaction of our customers and the authorities. If requested, we will send you a copy of the latest version of our reference list.
