TECHNICAL SERVICE FiberFloor Glueless and Full Spread Installation Instructions September 22, 2016 PRODUCTS All Tarkett Fiberglass reinforced material for residential application INSTALLATION SYSTEMS Glueless Full Spread PRIOR TO INSTALLATION Carefully check flooring material for any defects. Contact your supplier immediately if any defect is found. Remove quarter round, baseboard molding or cove base. Undercut doorway moldings the thickness of the flooring. WOOD SUBSTRATES Wood floors must be double construction with a minimum thickness of 1. Top layer of plywood shall be ¼ minimum thickness underlayment grade plywood. Tarkett recommended underlayments include APA Underlayment Grade Plywood A-C, B-C or C-C Plugged, ACCU-PLY, SurePly, TECPLY, ULAY, C.S.A. (CanPly) and Proboard CONCRETE SUBSTRATES FiberFloor may be installed over on grade, above grade or below grade concrete subfloors. Concrete floors shall be constructed in accordance with the American Concrete Institute (ACI) 302.1 Guide for Concrete Floor and Slab Construction. Concrete shall be finished and cured according to ACI and have a minimum compressive strength of 3500 psi. Floors must be free of any sealers, curing, hardening or parting compounds that would adversely affect the adhesive when using the Full Spread Installation System. Installation of moisture vapor barrier is recommended prior to pouring of on or below grade slabs. Moisture vapor transmission shall not exceed 3 lbs./1000 sq.ft./24 hours per ASTM F-1869 (Anhydrous Calcium Chloride Test). Moisture may also be tested according to ASTM F 2170 (Standard Test Method for Determining Relative Humidity in Concrete Floor Slabs Using in situ Probes). When tested according to this method, the internal relative humidity shall not exceed 75%. FiberFloor may be installed over gypsum based underlayments when using the Glueless Installation System. EXISTING FLOORS If using the Glueless Installation System, FiberFloor may be installed over two layers of non-cushioned existing sheet flooring. When using the Full Spread Installation System, FiberFloor may be installed over a single layer of existing non-cushioned sheet flooring only. Check vinyl flooring for any curled areas around the perimeter or at seams and repair if necessary. Use of a good quality hydraulic (portland) cement based embossing leveler to fill and level any irregularities wider than 1/4 or height differences greater than 1/32. An embossing leveler must be used for all fully adhered installations. SUBSTRATE PREPARATION All substrates must be dry, clean, smooth and level. When using the Glueless Installation System, FiberFloor will bridge minor imperfections in the substrate. However, any height differences over 1/16 shall be leveled with a latex fortified, hydraulic (portland) cement based patching compound. When using the Full Spread Installation System, fill and level all plywood seams and concrete cracks, construction joints, control joints, depressions, grooves or other irregularities. Use a latex fortified, hydraulic (portland) cement patching compound. Sweep and/or vacuum substrate to remove all dust and debris. WARNING: Do not sand, dry sweep, dry scrape, drill, saw, beadblast or mechanically chip or pulverize existing resilient flooring, backing, lining felt or asphaltic cutback adhesive. These products may contain asbestos fibers or crystalline silica. Avoid creating dust. Inhalation of such dust is a cancer and respiratory tract hazard. Smoking by individuals exposed to asbestos fibers greatly increases the

risk of serious bodily harm. Unless positively certain that the product is a non-asbestos containing material, you must presume it contains asbestos. Regulations may require that the material be tested to determine asbestos content. FIBERFLOOR GLUELESS INSTALLATION TIPS Cut orders may be rolled face in (back rolled) on a sturdy core. Unroll the flooring in the room and allow it to relax approximately 20 minutes. Material shall be lying completely flat before fitting. Room temperature shall be no less than 65 F (18 C) for 24 hours before, during and after installation. Undercut door moldings to allow flooring to fit loose freely under the molding. There is no maximum length for the installation of FiberFloor. However, long lengths of flooring may have a tendency to bow or twist during layout or positioning. Use caution to insure that the material is lying completely flat and is aligned squarely within the room before final fitting and/or cutting of seam. Leave a 1/8-1/4 gap between flooring and all verticals (i.e. walls, cabinets, pipes, etc.). Leave an additional 1/4 gap for floors installed over wood substrates that have a potential of being exposed to high moisture levels (i.e. crawl spaces) or fully adhere with Q-Bond One. Do not install cabinets on top of FiberFloor when using the Glueless Installation System. DO NOT PERIMETER BOND FIBERFLOOR. Use Tarkett S870 Floating Seam Tape if multiple seams are required over a plywood substrate. Use Tarkett S860 Seam Tape when one seam is required over a plywood substrate. Use Tarkett S860 Seam Tape for all seams when installing over a concrete substrate.if an installation requires the floor to be net fit, flash coved, installed on steps or if the flooring will be subjected to heavy caster action exceeding the static load limit (i.e. portable dishwashers, microwave carts, wheel chairs, etc.), the flooring shall be fully adhered with Tarkett Q-Bond One Adhesive. Install wood moldings or cove base around the perimeter to cover the space. Do not nail moldings through FiberFloor. Nail into the wall. When installing doorway transition moldings, do not nail through FiberFloor. GLUELESS INSTALLATION SYSTEM Measure the room and precut the flooring allowing extra material for trimming. Unroll the flooring and position in the room so the pattern is aligned squarely with walls. Allow flooring to relax for 20-30 minutes. Material shall be lying completely flat before fitting. Using a sharp, sturdy utility knife, make relief cuts at inside and outside corners. Trim the flooring around the edges of the room. When fitting flooring, leave a 1/8-1/4 space between flooring and all verticals (i.e. walls, cabinets, pipes, etc.). Leave an additional 1/4 gap for floors installed over wood substrates that have a potential of being exposed to high moisture levels (i.e. crawl spaces) or fully adhere with Q-Bond One When installing in a full bathroom, the flooring may be fit net against the bathtub or shower stall. Apply S860 Seam Tape along the front of the tub or stall. Remove the release liner and fit the flooring against the tub or stall. The remaining walls and toilet flange must have the 1/8-1/4" space between the flooring. Apply a bead of silicone caulking in front of bathtub Slide flooring underneath the undercut door casings. SEAMING After first piece of flooring is positioned, cut second piece of flooring. Be sure to allow extra material for pattern match. Overlap seam edges and obtain exact pattern match. Place masking tape at seam overlap to prevent flooring from moving.

Fit second piece of flooring. Remember to leave a 1/8-1/4 space between flooring and all vertical objects. Seams are cut using the double-cut method. Lay a straight edge along center of seam overlap or grout line. Using the straight edge as a guide, cut through both sheets of flooring with a sharp, sturdy utility knife held to produce a vertical cut. Do not tilt knife blade. When installing over an existing floor, do not cut into the existing floor. Lift top edge of flooring and carefully remove bottom salvage. Multiple seams over plywood construction are fastened using Tarkett S870 Floating Seam Tape. Fold back one sheet of flooring at the seam area to expose the substrate. Position Tarkett S870 Floating Seam Tape so that it is centered under the seam cut. Carefully remove the release liner from the Tarkett S870 Floating Seam Tape. Position flooring and roll seam area thoroughly. One seam over plywood construction and all seams over concrete are fastened using Tarkett S860 Seam Tape. Mark subfloor along seam edge with a pencil. Do not contaminate seam edge with lead from pencil. Fold back each sheet of flooring at the seam area to expose the substrate. Apply Tarkett S860 Seam Tape to the substrate, so that it is centered over the pencil line. Roll seam tape in place with a hand roller. Remove the release liner from the seam tape. Position flooring and roll seam area thoroughly. Seal seam with Tarkett DT-65 Seam Sealer for materials with low gloss finish and Tarkett DT-25 Seam Sealer for materials with high gloss finish. Protect seam from traffic for a minimum of 8 hours. FULL-SPREAD INSTALLATION SYSTEM Measure the room and precut the flooring allowing extra for trimming. Unroll the flooring and position in the room so the pattern is aligned squarely with walls.

Using a sharp, sturdy utility knife, make relief cuts at inside and outside corners. Trim the flooring around the perimeter of the room. After flooring has been fit, fold or loosely roll the flooring back to expose one half of the subfloor. Make sure the sheet does not move or shift. Apply Q-Bond One Releasable Adhesive evenly over substrate using a short nap paint roller designed for smooth surfaces. Allow adhesive to dry until it is tacky to the touch, but does not transfer to fingers. Dry time will vary depending on the porosity of the substrate, temperature and humidity. Flooring must be placed into adhesive within one hour of becoming tacky. Avoid trapping air beneath the sheet. Roll flooring with a 75 lb. (34 kg) sectional floor roller. NOTE: For a permanent installation, apply adhesive with a 1/32 deep x 1/16 wide x 1/32 apart (0,8 mm deep, 1,6 mm wide, 0,8 mm apart) notched trowel. When installing over a non-porous surface, allow adhesive to dry until it is tacky to the touch before positioning flooring. Roll flooring with a 75 lb. (34 kg) sectional floor roller.fold or loosely roll back second half of floor. Apply adhesive to remaining area, position flooring and roll with a 75lb. sectional floor roller. SEAMING Cut and position second piece of flooring. Be sure to allow extra material for pattern match. Overlap seam edges and obtain exact pattern match. Place masking tape at seam overlap to prevent flooring from moving. Fit second piece of flooring.

After second piece of flooring has been fit, remove masking tape from seam area. Mark the substrate along factory edge with a pencil. Fold or loosely roll back each piece of flooring lengthwise to expose the entire seam area. Apply Q-bond One Releasable Adhesive over the exposed subfloor using a short nap paint roller designed for smooth surfaces. Allow adhesive to dry until it is tacky to the touch, but does not transfer to fingers. Dry time will vary depending on the porosity of the substrate, temperature and humidity. NOTE: For a permanent installation, apply adhesive with a 1/32 deep x 1/16 wide x 1/32 apart (0,8 mm deep, 1,6 mm wide, 0,8 mm apart) notched trowel. Place flooring into wet adhesive. When installing over a non-porous surface, allow adhesive to dry until it is tacky to the touch before positioning flooring. Roll flooring in both directions with a 75lb. sectional floor roller except for 6 on either side of the seam. Position flooring and roll seam area thoroughly. Fold or loosely roll back the second half of flooring on each side. Apply adhesive to remaining areas, position flooring and roll with a 75lb. sectional floor roller. Seal seams with Tarkett DT-65 Seam Sealer for materials with low gloss finish and Tarkett DT-25 Seam Sealer for materials with high gloss finish. Protect seam from traffic for a minimum of 8 hours. FINISHING THE JOB Carefully inspect for any fullness in the flooring. Re-trim if necessary. Flooring shall be laying flat.it is recommended that all exposed edges be covered. Install wood moldings or cove base around the perimeter to cover the space. Do not fasten or nail moldings through FiberFloor. Fasten into the wall.

Use transition moldings at doorways or where the new flooring meets an existing floor. Do not nail or fasten the molding through the flooring. Transition moldings shall be fastened to the substrate. If a transition molding must be installed directly on top of flooring. Mark on the flooring where each fastener will be positioned. Drill or cut a hole larger than the size of the fastener. This will allow for any type of movement. Do not move or roll furniture and appliances directly over floor. Always place plywood or hardboard panels on floor when moving furniture or appliances. Furniture legs shall equipped with proper size rests to prevent permanent indentations. CARE AND MAINTENANCE Check furniture to be sure the legs are equipped with proper rests and are of sufficient size to prevent permanent indentations. Sweep and /or vacuum any dirt or debris that can abrade or scratch the floor. Use a soft brush, dust mop or vacuum. Light daily sweeping or vacuuming will help maintain the floors original gloss by removing any grit particles, which can affect the normal gloss. Wipe up spills promptly and thoroughly with a clean, damp cloth. Spills are easier to remove if wiped up immediately. When necessary, wash the floor with a neutral floor cleaner. Use non-staining walk-off mats at outside entrances to prevent dirt and debris from being tracked onto the floor. Discoloration of the flooring may occur from rubber backings and dyes used in floor mats and rugs. As with other household furnishings, repeated exposure to direct sunlight may cause bleaching or discoloration. When possible, close drapes or blinds during peak sunlight hours to block direct sunlight. For more information contact: Tarkett Technical Services 1.888.639.8275
