POSITION DESCRIPTION Marketing and Communications Manager Direct Reports: Nil Date: February 2018 Reports to: Location: Director of Marketing and Fundraising Waipuna Hospice, Te Puna Station Road Position objective As a member of the Marketing and Fundraising(MKFR) team, the Marketing and Communications Manager increases the profile and visibility of Waipuna Hospice through managing the development and implementation of Waipuna Hospice s marketing, communication and PR activities. Increase Waipuna Hospice s visibility through targeted marketing, communications and PR, contributing to the development of new programme partnerships and funding opportunities. Develop, oversee and implement marketing and communications strategies for Waipuna Hospice s key supporters and funders using a range of reactive and strategically planned actions in print, media, events and online. Manage, oversight and coordination of communications activities and PR delivery, working closely with the MKFR team our retail teams across the region. Work with MKFR team to plan and deliver strategies to target specific areas of Waipuna Hospice s services and its different audiences. Work closely with the Waipuna Hospice network and with Hospice NZ s networks to ensure Waipuna Hospice is included in national communications opportunities when appropriate (e.g. media campaigns, events and others) always identifying areas of good practice or potential joint working under direction of Director of Marketing & Fundraising.
Provide communication advice to the organisation Communication Plan Marketing, Communication and PR budget management Champion of Waipuna Hospice brand Customer Relationship Management System Media relations and press function lead Work alongside MKFR colleagues where required to develop outline communications plans, budgets and advise on appropriate communications outputs for appeals, events, campaigns and programmes at funding bid / application stage. Develop a communications plans at the inception of appeals, events, campaigns and programmes - alongside staff, ensuring the contract and funder requirements are met. Ensure all marketing, and PR activities are in line with budgetary priorities. Any non-budgetary activities must be approved prior by the Director of Marketing and Fundraising, CEO and Board. Champion the Waipuna Hospice brand, ensuring consistent and appropriate use of the agreed visual identity on all internal and external communication materials Effectively administrate and manage Waipuna Hospice Customer Relationship Management system. Ensure accuracy and integrity of the data. Analyse supporters data and make recommendations on appropriate marketing and communication activities. All activities must align with the organisational strategy, and Director of Marketing & Fundraising or Senior Leaders input obtained as required. Lead the development and maintenance of media relations and oversee the press function of Waipuna Hospice to deliver positive media coverage for the organisation and its campaigns, appeals, events and programmes. Produce compelling stories and gather newsworthy information about Waipuna Hospice s work for use across a range of mediums, including print, web, film and social media platforms. Internal and external communication Team and interpersonal relationships Management of the content and editing of Waipuna Hospice s website, all social media accounts and the online photography database. Establish and implement an internal communications strategy to keep staff and volunteers abreast of good news stories, achievements and development across the Waipuna Hospice Manage relationships with contractors and vendors. Inspire, motivate and support teams across Waipuna, working across multiple programmes and locations throughout Western Bay of Plenty, ensuring consistency in delivering high quality marketing and communication across the organisation. Engage with and provide support to staff members in the organisation that have responsibilities related to communications and PR activities ensuring consistency and consolidation of efforts Lead the delivery of communications inductions for new staff and volunteers and on any other internal communications training where appropriate and relevant. Person Specification Essential Desirable Experience At least 2 to 3 years experience in a comparable role, good track record of engaging wide, diverse range of audiences. Managing and operating databases and digital marketing systems. Excellent working knowledge of social media campaigns. Experience target setting, collating, and monitoring of statistical information for review and report purposes. High quality report writing. Developing and delivering effective marketing and communication strategy. Planning and delivering creative marketing campaigns. First rate copywriting skills and excellent proof reading ability. Ability to create and produce high quality marketing material and creative content. Ability to carry out public presentations and respond to questions from the floor. Experience in charity sector. Knowledge of and ability to manage and operate a WordPress (or similar) website. Knowledge of current charitable organisation policies and plans such as data protection policies, event legislations.
