TRIBOND high strength and high ductility Tailored material for hot forming AUTOMOTIVE / TRUCKS ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe Thinking the future of steel
To make tomorrow s cars even lighter ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe is taking a new approach to hot forming with the composite material TRIBOND. Unlike monolithic materials, TRIBOND makes it possible to combine conflicting properties in one product: maximum ductility and high strength for tailored property profiles in auto production.
THREE ADVANTAGES, ONE INGENIOUS SOLUTION High ductility TRIBOND steels allow unprecedented bending angles of up to 135 in hot forming. High potential for weight reduction Particularly in crash-relevant parts the 10-15 percent weight reduction potential of TRIBOND opens up new design and manufacturing possibilities through the material s high strength compared with conventional cold forming solutions. Ease of processing TRIBOND steels are ideal for structural parts requiring high energy absorption capacity and are just as easy to process as the standard material MBW 1500+AS.
MATERIAL WITH NEW POTENTIAL TRIBOND, the new composite for hot forming, combines properties previously regarded as incompatible: ultrahigh strength coupled with high energy absorption through controlled axial deformation. It allows up to two and a half times higher bending angles compared with the standard material MBW 1500+AS. The performance data of the new TRIBOND materials show how conflicting properties can be combined to targeted effect. With the new steel composites TRIBOND 1200 and TRIBOND 1400 you have two materials that open up new and promising applications for the hot forming of body parts without the need to change your standard processes.
