QUESTION 2 SOALAN 2 (a) Give FOUR characteristics of block flow diagram. Berikan EMPAT ciri gambarajah blok. (b) Convert the given situation into a block flow diagram : Tukarkan situasi di bawah kepada gambarajah blok. Crude palm oil was stored in cone bottom bin storage tank for several hours. Steam refining is carried out where steam is introduced in the crude oil in a column tower. Refined crude palm oil the moves to a mixer through the main pipeline for degumming process where acid is introduced. Then separation process will be carried out where the oil will move to distillation tower. Distillation tower contains two sections, the upper most section collects palmitic acid and second column collects stearic acid. Palmitic acid will be stored in close top bulk storage where stearic acid will be placed in a steam tower so that it stays in liquid form. QUESTION 3 SOALAN 3 (a) Construct a Piping Identification System (PIS) for the situation below: In unit 8 of the urea plant, a pipe with diameter 75 mm and material specifications 1P2 was found to bring acid into the next unit. The pipe was equipped with 76 mm heat conservation insulation. The line is located at number 100. Bina sistem pengenalan perpaipan bagi situasi dibawah: Di unit 8 sebuah loji urea, terdapat satu perpaipan dengan diameter 78mm dan spesifikasi1p2 yang mengalirkan asid ke unit seterusnya. (ii) Describe the type of control system and instrumentation used in Diagram 3(c). Jelaskan jenis sistem kawalan dan instrumentasi yang digunakan dalam Rajah 3(c). [7 marks] [7 markah] C3 (d) A furnace is used to heat a process fluid to a desired temperature by manipulating the flow rate of fuel gas via a pneumatically actuated 2 fail closed control valve. The control system uses electrically connected locally mounted transmitter and a locally board mounted indicator to a shared display control Distributed Control System (DCS) indicator controller. Assuming the inlet process fluid into the furnace as a major disturbance to the system measured, sketch a feedforward control loop numbered as 110 to control the unmeasured outlet process fluid temperature. QUESTION 4 SOALAN 4 The following questions in based on flow diagram given in Appendix 1. Soalan berikutnya adalah berdasarkan kepada rajah aliran proses dalam Appendix 1. (a) Process flow diagram is an illustration of a plant that is usually used as an observatory work for engineers and technician. There are several types of flow diagram that can be used according to desired functions. Gambarajah proses aliran adalah gambarajah logi yang digunakan oleh jurutera dan juruteknik bagi kerja kerja pemantauan. Terdapat pelbagai jenis gambarajah aliran yang boleh digunakan untuk pelbagai fungsi. (i) State the type of process flow diagram, title and drawing number in Appendix 1.
