18/07/2015 Statements OutDoor 2015 Mark Held, Secretary General of the European Outdoor Group (EOG): "There was a great and very positive atmosphere at OutDoor this year. At a time when competition is more intense than ever, exhibitors and visitors at the show were clearly working hard to ensure they are ahead of the game in capitalizing on emerging trends and introducing relevant new products and sub-categories to a rapidly evolving market. Arne Arens, General Manager The North Face: "We had a great time at the show and are especially pleased to have been able to create a premium experience to showcase the new Summit Series collection. Our new location in the Rothaus Hall/A1 provided a seamless transition for our customers moving smoothly between the main booth and the Summit Series site. Rolf Schmid, CEO Mammut Sports Group AG: "These are exciting times. Over the past twelve months the outdoor industry has done more than it has in the last twelve years. Given these significant developments, the OutDoor in Friedrichshafen is the ideal venue to meet with all important colleagues and partners to sit down at the same table and discuss, scrutinize confirm the appropriate strategies. Rolf Reinschmidt, General Manager adidas Outdoor: 2015 1 / 6
"The OutDoor is always a great place to present our new range and to meet with friends and partners. I am really happy about all the good feedback and recognition we received for the terrex product range, including the gold award for the terrex Agravic Down Jacket. Above that, it was a pleasure to have Kevin Jorgeson contributing to the diverse program of the fair. Alex Koska, Vice President Global Sales, Fenix Outdoor AB: "Hot, but happy! The Fenix group is very happy with the way things have gone at OutDoor 2015. Thomas Lange, Sales Director, Keen EMEA: "We re really pleased with the show - and of course with the super weather! The first two days were particularly good. Interestingly, we saw mainly national and regional customers on Wednesday, while Thursday was predominantly international. Thomas Syring, Sales Manager, Thule Central Europe: "We re new to the show, but it went very well. We had good meetings with very interested retailers, who see Thule with a new face. We have been welcomed as a small, but important part of the community. Discussions resulted in good orders, but also help to pave the way for future areas of business. For us, the trade show is an important platform and an important new focus. We will definitely be back next year. Sam Zhong, International Sales and Marketing Director, Kailas: "The exhibition is great, one of the best. We could have had 2015 2 / 6
more visitors at our booth. Trends go towards urban activity; our climbing pants have been going well. We will probably come back next year. Duncan Machin, Marketing Manager, Mountain Equipment: "The exhibition has been great. Moving the days hasn t affected the show. We have had about the same number of visitors as last year. (The show might be a bit late in the year). The set-up and the organization have been perfect. We have been seen as a winter brand and this is our first push into the summer market. Our climbing clothing has been going well and our sleeping bags have been strong this season. We have had great feedback on our colors. Of course we will come back. Thomas Kamm, Country Manager Merrell: "At our stand all our key accounts and overall timing ran smoothly. The new location in the Rothaus Hall/A1 was very pleasant in terms of working environment and temperature. Given the concentration of top brands, we felt very much at home. The trade show personnel are really friendly, open and helpful. When you come to Friedrichshafen, you are made really welcome. We saw a large number of new customers - who we had no idea were coming. Post-show order deadlines are guaranteed. Our barbecue event, the evening before the show was a successful kick-off and feedback from invited journalists was also really positive. All in all - we really enjoy being here. Andrea Händel, Communication and Media, Deutscher Alpenverein (DAV): "The OutDoor remains the place to meet for the industry. 2015 3 / 6
It s super for us here - all our relevant partners, media representatives, brands and athletes attend. It s ideal for making and maintaining contacts. The trade show is a great place to keep abreast of the trends. Generally speaking, it s clear to see that the industry remains very innovative and very lively. We see this trend reflected in our increase in members. And we re also seeing issues becoming more differentiated. This is a welcome development because it will attract younger individual target groups to outdoor sports. Both the DAV and the industry as a whole will benefit from this. Steffen Sator, Managing Director, Out-Trade: "This is where we meet our target audience. Attending the OutDoor is essential. We experienced a great deal of media interest in our folding kayaks. The same applies to the organisation. I m really pleased, especially as far as distribution and new innovations are concerned. Ralf van Wezel, Distribution Restube Germany: "Our stand was busy, thanks to our innovative product, which won an OutDoor Industry Award. The prize is great for attracting customers who have not seen us before. Coming here is important, it s the most important trade show for our target group. Our products go down well in outdoor circles. Kurt Gerber, Marketing and PR Exped AG: "Visitors are always interested in our new products and innovations. As a hardware specialist, we play an important, if smaller role. This means we do well with specialist retailers and had a high number of appointments. Christoph Centmayer, Marketing Communications Manager 2015 4 / 6
worldwide, Bergans of Norway: "After years of explosive growth, it does the industry and also Bergans of Norway good to be able to consolidate. Less is sometimes more. Peter Ottervanger, General Manager Europe, Icebreaker: "It was an excellent show. We ve seen our major customers, had very good meetings and response with the line. We were really busy and had a very successful trade show so far. We re super proud of the Gold Award that we ve won with the Kala Dress. It really helps us to show Icebreaker s technical development. Definitely a great achievement to get that prize. Wolfgang Jahn, European Sales Manager, Sherpa: "We ve had an outstanding show. And we ve seen many new doors open - including internationally. Retailers showed a great deal of compassion and understanding for the difficult situation in Nepal. However, the team had their work cut out in the heat, and the faulty air conditioning system in Hall B4 didn t help matters. Winning the outdoor.markt trophy 2015 for being the best performer of the year more than made up for this. Jean Luc Diard, President Hoka Europe: "We re really happy with how the show has gone. We saw large numbers of customers from Germany, Switzerland and Italy at our booth, although fewer visitors from France and Scandinavia. Interest in the brand and our products remains high - this applies to both running and our innovative outdoor footwear. 2015 5 / 6
