About Us... Our Machining and Assembly expertise was initially developed under Sorvall (1948), and then further expanded upon under DuPont where the Newtown facility became the premier machining operation within the Medical Products division. In 1996 DuPont divested the Medical Products divisions to Kendro Laboratory Products. In August 2003 we seamlessly acquired the Machining and Assembly assets from Kendro Laboratory Products to form Tier ONE. Tier ONE has over 50 years of experience in providing machining and assembly solutions for function-critical, highly-engineered parts and assemblies. We specialize in customers who are looking for a partner to develop or improve on the manufacturability of the design, and are interested in keeping inventory low while maintaining the highest level of on time delivery and quality. We are AS9100C and ISO9100:2008 certified. Tier ONE s customer specific delivery systems and technical support set us apart. Our assembly capability is also a big plus to our customers. It lowers their inventory, reduces the number of SKU s they need to manage, and reduces quality issues that may arise from tolerance stack up. It also limits time spent isolating and identifying root cause issues, and enables functional testing of incoming subassemblies. We have adapted to changing market conditions and designed manufacturing delivery systems to meet the changing demands with little or no forecasting. We can deliver in small batches and short lead-times while controlling in-house inventory. Tier ONE s business model is based on flexible custom solutions, not applying one solution to all, and working individually with each customer to provide the best result. Our customers, by definition of their highly-engineered and function-critical need, have a high level of value for quality. Good parts on time and efficient documentation are as important as the parts themselves. We operate from a 60,000 square feet facility, and we own the 140,000 square feet building which allows plenty of room for expansion. Tier ONE is privately owned and has 70 full-service employees. 2010 2011 2012 2013 2015 Bought 140,000 square foot facility EDM capability introduced Two new Mazak High Speed 4 Axis Mills with Palletech for single piece flow Partnership with Local Colleges to complement the Apprentice Program AS9100C Certification A Legacy of Excellence. 2016 Tier ONE, LLC All Rights Reserved
Tiers of Excellence We are experts in process enhancements to improve product quality and reliability, as well as cost saving strategies including lean manufacturing and effective inventory management. We partner with companies throughout the United States and Europe to provide knowledgeable guidance for complicated transitions and machining/assembly solutions. Precision Machining When you are looking for function-critical, highly-engineered machined components, Tier ONE can provide multi-axis, vertical or horizontal milling, lathe, swiss, mill turn, or EDM. Tier ONE uses the latest technology and advancements in machining equipment by partnering with high end companies like Mazak, Okuma and Citizen, so that we can provide our customers with the highest quality products in a cost effective manner. Capabilities Ultrasonic Part Washing Prototyping Coordinate Measuring Machines In-house Tumbling/Deburring Single Piece Orders Assembly Fixtures Dye Penetrate Testing Custom Products Multiple Cad Cam Systems Dual Plane Balancing Machining Fixtures Welding Sawing Assembly When we started our business less than 15% of the parts we manufactured were assemblies, today over 87% of what we make has at least two components or more. Customers appreciate that with Tier ONE assemblies: There are fewer parts to manage Improved cash flow all parts arrive at the same time (no assembly time, correct quantities, no excess components) Fewer items in incoming inspection Improved quality parts are tested at our facility Single company responsibility Inventory Management & Packaging We run our manufacturing system as a pull system from customer demand. We use Kanban signals calculated from EAU and manufacturing lead-times. We track inventory by customer product line. We can also use tangible signals for Kanbans, directly integrated into the customer s production process. Our approach is to collaborate with customers to develop a solution that is compatible with real life variation, not just a calculated solution. We help our customers meet their customers stringent OTD requirements, while controlling and minimizing inventory cost. As a contract manufacturer, the products we make every day change. Our manufacturing system produces data regarding daily shop load as well as longer-term capacity planning. Consignment Inventory By having a wide variety of raw materials on site we have great flexibility. Reusable/Custom Packaging - Understanding how our customer s product is assembled and/or packaged allows integration of our parts directly into your business. We can deliver parts to point-of-use, in the required quantities, with packaging that is reusable and green. Transition Sourcing Tier ONE s first customer was from an outsourcing program, transitioning from machining and assembly of their own product to contracting it out, what we like to call Transition Sourcing. Transition Sourcing is an area where Tier ONE really excels. It is a far bigger job than just moving a part. You have project management requirements and an opportunity to update legacy documentation. Transition Sourcing can have a major impact on a customer s bottom line, with inventory reduction, increased capacity (manpower, equipment, and space) for new or alternative product lines. Tier ONE has assisted companies in relocating facilities and has a unique approach to ensure success, minimize risk, and allow you to focus on what you do best developing and expanding your markets without spending all your capital on equipment. We provide critical data to our employees, allowing them to improve and control our production processes. We use automated inspection equipment to reduce inspection variation, making it easier and more repeatable. We also position inspection equipment near the point of use to improve part flow. We maintain quality records for our customers, including full material traceability and compliance to required standards.
