Keeping Records Hours worked The Fair Work Ombudsman sets out the record keeping requirements for time and wage records Employers must keep a number of written records of their employees for 7 years. This includes records about time and wages. They must be legible and in English, and be readily accessible to an inspector. It's best practice that these records are written in plain and simple English. In Unit 6 is a list of records which must be kept by a business for each employee. Unit 2 detailed the list of Pay Slip requirements. Review the above units if required to refresh your understandings. The business could use the following to record start/finish and hours worked if required. Entering Sheet information and processing a pay in MYOB AccountRight v19 (i) (ii) Open the MYOB data file. You will now enter the Sheet on the previous page. (iii) To switch on the sheet option in MYOB: (a) (b) (c) (d) Select Payroll Command Centre. Select Enter sheet. You are asked if you wish to enable the sheet Preference now. Select Yes. Select the following timesheet options for Browns Office System (e) Select OK to return to the Command Centre. (iv) Before entering hours, you will have to check the appropriate categories have been set up in this file. (a) (b) (c) In the Payroll Command Centre, select Payroll Categories. In Wages do you have categories for the following? (v) In Payroll Categories, click on the Superannuation TAB and select Superannuation Guarantee. Select Exempt button and exclude any necessary categories created on the previous page like this. (vi) (vii) Return to the Command Centre. (viii) Make sure the Superannuation Guarantee has been selected. (ix) (x) Select Holiday and Personal Leave entitlements for staff. When using time sheets you also have to delete the hours in Standard Pay, because the hours will now come from the time sheets. (a) In Cards List, select the card for John Williams. (b) In Payroll Details, Standard Pay, delete any hours. (xi) (xii) Click on OK and return to the Command Centre. To enter the timesheet on Page 133, select Enter sheet. (xiii) Select John Williams and enter hours line by line as shown on the following page: Note: In sheets the following increments are used for period on an hour 15 minutes =.25hrs 30 minutes =.5hrs 45 minutes =.75 hours Write down the start and finish dates of your pay weeks: Week 1 Week 2 (xiv) Click on OK to return to the Payroll Command Centre.
