About the Guelph Humane Society GHS Today: Founded in 1893, one of Canada s oldest animal welfare organizations Approximately 30 staff, about 20 full time and 10 part time Approximately 400 volunteers a year Average annual intake: Cats - 1000, Dogs - 500, Small Animals - 100, Wildlife - 1500 Provide animal control services to Guelph, Centre Wellington and Guelph-Eramosa, full humane society and investigations services throughout Wellington County In addition to animal care, offer education initiatives, shelter visits, youth programming Photo Column

500 Wellington Street West Current Facility: Located on land owned by the City of Guelph, adjacent to the Waste Water Treatment Plant Lease is set to expire in December 2018 (already extended from June 2016) Outdated facilities, which are falling into a state of disrepair Built in 1970s, with an addition in the early 1990s Staff and volunteer team has outgrown the space, and animal housing is in need of modernization to meet current standards 4
