Company Overview The Group Our parent company Emmeti S.p.A. was founded in 1976, initially marketing components for heating systems before making a shift in 1984 to focus on automated assembly and distribution. The acquisition of Emmeti Group provides an excellent synergy between the two organisations and will support the strategic plans for growth and innovation of RETTIG ICC, allowing entry into new geographic markets and the transfer of new technologies. Multi-layer pipe factory Emmeti s dedicated PE-Xb/Al/PE-Xb multi-layer pipe factory in Fontanafredda, Italy covers 10,000m 2 in order to accommodate two production lines, research and development facilities and post manufacture, quality and stress test laboratory which ensures maximum reliability and safety of the finished product. The factory has the capacity to produce up to 30,000,000 metres per year. This along with the production facility in Ponte S.Marco which produces the Gerpex Press Fitting range as well as other brass fittings means that Emmeti can now offer a full system solution including pipe, press fittings and tooling. Emmeti UK We established Emmeti UK in Burford, Oxfordshire in 2004, to support Emmeti Group from a UK base. Distributing Emmeti and OEM products through wholesalers, merchants, system houses and renewable companies nationwide who serve the needs of the rapidly growing underfloor heating market as well as the heating and plumbing sector. We have achieved a reputation for excellence in fast order turnaround together with sales and technical support for our customers. From our central warehouse located near Oxford we are able to offer ex-stock next day. This is supported by weekly shipments from our manufacturing base in Italy. We are able to offer innovative new products to the UK market, with the substantial resources and back-up of the Emmeti Group as well as tailoring products to a customer s own specification. We have recently gained BBA approval for our manifold and pipe and many of our products are WRAS approved for potable use. Overview of the Gerpex Pipe System Gerpex Pipe System Applications The Gerpex system has been designed for use with hot and cold water, heating, chilled water and compressed air systems. Gerpex Multi-Layer Composite Pipe can be used in both traditional branch plumbing and point-to-point plumbing in conjunction with our manifold systems. It is suitable for use in both the domestic and commercial projects and is fully WRAS approved for use in hot and cold water supplies. For branch plumbing applications, the system includes high quality metal press and compression fittings, together with tooling and a full range of accessories. Gerpex MLCP is also fully compatible with our comprehensive range of hot and cold water and heating manifolds in for use in point-to-point installations using our patented Monoblocco fittings to make the connections. The wide range of pipe sizes, fittings, accessories and various fastening options make the Gerpex System a complete and highly reliable solution for any project. Gerpex Multi-Layer Composite Pipe Gerpex Multi-Layer Composite Pipe is the optimum solution for modern building projects, offering all of the advantages of both plastic and metal pipes combined with excellent value for money and peace of mind. Gerpex can be used in a wide range of applications including hot and cold water systems, heating (wall hung radiator and underfloor heating), chilled water and compressed air. The pipe is available in a range of sizes from 16-75mm making it ideal for both domestic and commercial applications. Gerpex Multi-Layer Composite Pipe is made of composite material through a technologically advanced process in which an inner layer of cross linked PE-Xb (polyethylene) pipe is bonded to a butt-welded aluminium core with outer layer of PE-Xb (up to 32mm) or PE-HD (from 40 up to 75mm). This production process is what gives Gerpex its high temperature and pressure characteristics. The internal aluminium layer provides rigidity, form retention and a solid oxygen barrier to prevent internal corrosion of heating system components such as heat exchangers, pumps and radiators. The products are fully WRAS approved for use with hot and cold water systems and the range includes coils up to 500m, 4m straight bars and insulated coils. Gerpex Press Fittings Gerpex Press Fittings have been developed to be used with Multi-Layer Composite Pipe as a clean, simple and more efficient alternative to traditional jointing methods such as soldered copper and threaded steel fittings. The positive sealing action of the press system will also give greater confidence to the installer, developer and end user than push fittings. The brass bodied fittings with double o-ring technology, combined sight hole, dialectric ring and jaw alignment collar help to ensure that the pipe is fully inserted and pressed correctly, every time. Gerpex Tooling A range of pressing tools and jaws to suit 16mm up to 75mm with multi-profile compatible tooling. Also included are pipe preparation, cutting and bending tools. Includes battery operated, REMS Mini and Akku-Press, as well as replacement jaws. 3

Key Benefits of the Gerpex Pipe System For the Installer kg Reduced installation time due to the flexibility of the pipe. Installation on site is extremely fast compared to copper and steel systems due to the reduced number of joints required. The pipe can bend readily making the routing of the pipe around the building very quick and easy. Once bent the pipe retains its form so will stay in the desired position. The Gerpex pipe has linear expansion characteristics similar to copper and far superior to polybutylene and polypropylene, saving you time and money during installation by reducing the need for additional expansion considerations. The product is light compared to copper or stainless steel and our 16-32mm sizes are available in coils up to 500m which are easier to store and transport compared to copper tube which is generally supplied in bundles of 30m. A 200 metre coil of 16mm pipe weighs only 20kg compared to copper which would be 56kg making Gerpex much easier to move around on site. Minimal tooling is required to work with the Gerpex pipe, all that is required is a set of pipe cutters or shears, a calibration tool to prepare the end of the pipe and a press fit machine to complete the pressing process. Gerpex Press fittings are quicker and easier to install than soldered joints meaning that hot works and the need for hot works permits are eliminated. The process is also a lot cleaner than soldering which makes press fit the ideal solution for sensitive projects such as hospitals or laboratories etc. Copper pipe is generally supplied in 3m lengths, Gerpex pipe 16-32mm typically comes in continuous coils of 50m or 100m reducing the number of joints required and saving you money due to less wastage. Coils of up to 500m are available in 16mm to minimise wastage on large projects. The Gerpex Press Fittings are produced at our main plant in Italy from high quality brass with a double o-ring design for that extra peace of mind. Gerpex is competitive in material price to copper pipe but with many additional installation benefits saving you time and money. The raw materials used to manufacture Gerpex Pipe are extremely stable and are not subjected to the high variations in market price as copper and even stainless steel have become. Gerpex has a lower thermal conductivity than copper meaning that insulation requirements and unwanted heat loss are minimised. The aluminium in the Gerpex pipe is picked up with a pipe detector giving you peace of mind if drilling or fixing into a wall or floor. Gerpex products are subject to stringent control checks in our purpose built analytical laboratory which are carried out before, during and after production from the raw material analysis through to the finished product performance checks. You can specify Gerpex pipe and fittings with total confidence. Gerpex has WRAS approval for sanitary applications and a maximum operating pressure of 10 bar at 95 o C making the product suitable for a wide range of applications. The Gerpex Press Fittings are produced at our main plant in Italy from high quality brass with a double o-ring design for that extra peace of mind. The fittings are far more robust than plastic and composite alternatives. By specifying this system it allows you to add value to the project with an improved method of installation over traditional metal pipes. Examples of Gerpex Applications Branch Plumbing For branch plumbing the Gerpex system includes both high quality metal Press Fittings and Compression Fittings to form the joints in junctions of the pipe. This method of installation is suitable for both hot and cold water systems and wall hung radiator projects. Installation on site is extremely fast compared to copper and stainless steel systems due to the reduced amount of joints required. Joints can be replaced in some situations by bending the pipe to suit the route taken which will cut down on installation time and fitting costs. Once bent the pipe retains its form so will stay in the desired position. Branch plumbing in a washroom using Gerpex MLCP tees and elbows in the systems are achieved using our range of Press Fittings or Compression Fittings. The Emmeti developed 16mm - 15mm Compression fitting is used to connect to basin taps, WC connector and shower Point-to-Point Plumbing Point-to-point plumbing is a method of installation using a manifold to distribute water to hot and cold outlets around the property (such as washing machines, sinks, baths, dishwashers, and so on) or to heating systems such as radiators or underfloor heating. Each individual outlet is supplied using a continuous length of pipe from the manifold, with joints at the outlet and at the manifold only. This method of application eliminates all concealed intermediate joints in the system and by including a manifold allows for individual isolation and/or full electrical control (heating only) at each outlet in the event of any repair work or maintenance. Reduced linear expansion - The linear expansion in relation to a variation in temperature is comparable with that of copper. Thermal insulation - The system is available with an insulating coating which meets the following fire safety standards: European Standard Class 1 (UNI 9177) - DLs2-d2 (EN 13501-1). Low internal resistance - The smooth interior surface of the pipe prevents limescale deposits and promotes the smooth flow of fluid thus considerably reducing pressure drops across the system. High resistance to temperatures - Resistance to temperatures up to a maximum of 95 C. Resistance to damage and abrasion - This is due to the resistance of the aluminium layer and of the layers of PE-X used in the pipe s construction. Solid oxygen barrier - The aluminium layer makes the Gerpex pipe impermeable to oxygen that would cause corrosion of the system s metallic components (e.g. boiler components and radiators). Resistance to external chemical agents - Gerpex pipes embedded in walls or buried under flooring can be, due to their qualities, placed in acidic and alkali environments. Complete resistance to electrochemical corrosion - The materials used in the pipe s construction and the adoption in the fittings of a special dielectric element mean that the fittings are fully resistant to electrochemical corrosion. Overview of Gerpex System Components - Press Fittings Features Gerpex Press Fittings have been designed to be installed with the use of electric or manual pressing devices. This type of joint has become increasingly more popular due to its simple and quick installation, along with high working temperature and pressure capability. Once pressed, the fitting produces a joint with maximum stability and duration. Construction Details The stainless steel sleeve is connected onto the fitting by blue plastic ring. Each sleeve has the indication of the diameter and production data engraved (year week). The plastic ring has four important functions: it prevents electric contact between the layer of aluminium of the pipe and the brass body of the fitting, thus preventing the risk of possible electrochemical corrosion it provides sight holes to ensure that the pipe has been fully inserted into the fitting it guides the correct positioning of the jaws around the fitting fixes the sleeve to the fitting Fitting construction: 1 2 3 4 The Gerpex range of fittings are constructed with a brass nickel plated body (nickel plating is only on surfaces not in contact with the carried fluid) The blue plastic collar has sight holes which allow the installer to be sure that the pipe has been inserted fully into the fitting and also acts as a jaw alignment collar to ensure a correct fit. The stainless steel collar is marked with the fitting size and Emmeti branding and when crimped onto the pipe and fitting gives clear visual indication of crimping. Case Study - Yardley Park Site Summary The project, located in Tonbridge, Kent, is a complete refurbishment of an existing property with a new rear and side extension and expansion into the loft space to create a third floor. The complete Yardley Park project, an attractive 5 bedroom property with new extensions to the side and rear and a loft conversion. The Application 16, 20, 26 and 32mm Gerpex multi-layer composite pipe used for supplying radiators and hot and cold water services around the property, together with Gerpex Press Fittings Emmeti Multiplex sanitary manifolds Emmeti FMU2 manifold, controls, 16 x 2mm AL-PERT pipe and tacker clips used for underfloor heating Emmeti ¾ Modulo compact zone valves to provide 4 separate heating zones across the property The Players The project was managed and carried out by Listed Building Creations. The Solution The project used a condensing gas boiler to provide heat and hot water to the property with a mixed heating solution consisting of wall hung radiators together with an underfloor heating system for the kitchen extension, utility room and sun lounge. The underfloor heating system used an Emmeti FMU2 Floor Mixing Unit (pre-assembled manifold and control group), together with 3 loops of 16 x 2mm AL-PERT pipe (approximately 400m) and Emmeti 24V electronic dial room thermostats for each underfloor heating zone. To enable individual zone control, the project also used an Emmeti EWC-1 24V wiring centre. The EWC range is designed to provide central electrical control to all system components including room thermostats, electrothermic heads, manifold pump and heat source. The compact wiring centres, able to control up to 12 zones include individual channel terminals which allow the room thermostat to signal to the electrothermic head to open and also to active the heat source, when there is a demand for heat. 32mm Gerpex MLCP flow and return heating pipework teeing off into 16mm for connection to radiator tails showing the ultimate flexibility when navigating reinforced steel joists. The Gerpex pipe is extremely flexible making the routing of the pipe very easy and minimising the number of joints required for the project.
