Vision of Govt. of Maharashtra Govt. of Maharashtra has envisaged to equip 4.5 Crore people with employable skill by 2022 as part of the overall plan of Govt. of India Implementation Strategy Every department of the State Government and the district machinery shall have a key role to play. In order to achieve this target, 45 lakhs skilled manpower shall need to be produced per year by the state for 10 years. Maximum utilization of existing facilities & infrastructure in the institutes, both in public & private sector. Creating new training facilities by increasing intake capacity, opening of new institutes, additional divisions, starting of 2nd & 3rd shift in the institutes, starting of new trades as per industry demand. Increased participation of industry & NGO s etc in Skill Development Mission. 3

Steps taken by Govt. of Maharashtra State Apex Council for Skill Development constituted under the Chairmanship of the Hon. Chief Minister Executive Committee for Skill Development constituted under the Chairmanship of the Hon. Chief Secretary. The responsibility of convergence of programmes and co-ordination among various stakeholders vested with Commissioner, Employment, Self- Employment and Skill Development. At Regional level Regional Skill Development Executive Committees are constituted under Chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner At District level District Skill Development Executive Committees are constituted under Chairmanship of District Collectors. 4

Steps taken by Govt. of Maharashtra Sectoral Skill Development Committees with industry participation have been established for following 11 identified high demand trades- Version 1.0 of 9 Sector Skill Report released: Construction, Production & Manufacturing, Textile, Automobile, Hospitality, Health care, Retail, IT & ITes & Agro Processing The Version 1.0 of sector skill report Pharmaceutical & Chemical and Banking, Finance & Insurance is in advance stage of preparation 5

Steps taken by Govt. of Maharashtra Maharashtra State Skill Development Society established as a Single Nodal Agency for Skill Development initiative with the objective of :- Preparation and continuous updating of State Skill Gap Assessment Report and State Skill Development Plan Empanelling and grading training providers Providing support to District & Division level Committees and Sectoral / Territorial Skill Mission Officers in the state for the preparation and effective implementation of Annual Action Plans Knowledge Management Centre on Skill Development has been proposed to be established at Yashada, Pune during 2012-2013. 6

Implementation Plan In order to achieve the target of 45 Lakhs skilled manpower per year, the State Executive Committee for Skill Development,under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, fixed the following yearly department wise targets: S.No Department Target 1 Higher & Technical Education Department 10 lakhs 2 Rural Development Department 10 Lakhs 3 Industries Department 10 Lakhs 4 Social Justice Department 5 Lakhs 5 Tribal Development Department 5 Lakhs 6 Tourism Department 1 Lakh 7 Women and Child Development Department 1 Lakh 8 Public Health Department 1 Lakh 9 Minorities Development Department 1 Lakh 10 Marketing, Cooperation & Textile Department 1 Lakhs Total 45 Lakhs 7

Action Plan 2012-13 A Target for equipping 4.5 million persons with employable skills. 10 key departments to lead the Skill Development Drive. Strengthening of Maharashtra Skill Development Society through appointment of professional Skill Mission Officer. Completion of Skill Gap Assessment Report and creation of meta-data of skill gaps by Maharashtra State Skill Development Society. Establishment of Dynamic Labour Market Information System and State Web Portal by Directorate of Employment and Self Employment. 8
