The Flatstar series is a modular grinding machine for removing the residues of resins, pastes and inks after the hole plugging process in the production of printed circuit boards Your partner solutions

Three independent Phases Treatment. Flatstar can operates with different parameters on each brush Single Side processing series is available in a range of 650 (25,5 ) and 760 mm. (30 ) panel width. The flexibility of the Flatstar Series allows the changing of parameters to meet all types of hole plugging systems and applications. Because various systems generate different surface topography, the multiple parameters may be adjusted for the appropriate treatment and performance. Should the hole plugging process remain the same, minimal adjustments will be required for individual jobs. Adjustable parameters shown by the operator interface display include: Board thickness Board width Working area Oscillation speed of each brush Rotation speed of each brush Brush pressure of each brush

The Flatstar s completely self supporting structure is constructed in three millimeter thick (.118 ) Stainless Steel. Flatstar

The Flatstar is composed by a monobloc for the Three Independent Brushes and it is also ideally suited for scrubbing press plate separator. Flatstar, with single oscillation, is composed by a monobloc for the t h r e e i n d e p e n d e n t brushes: the oscillation is controlled by a single brushless motor and the monobloc is supported and drives on linear guides. A centering device is installed on the entry conveyor to define the correct working position. A laser photocell establishes the width of the panel for automatic a d a p t a t i o n o f t h e oscillation to the panel dimension. As optional, the t h i c k n e s s c a n automatically detected with a calliper for the correct positioning of the brushes. A l l t h e w o r k i n g parameters will be manually set up by the operator through a user friendly touch screen display.

The Flatstar is provided with automatic brush pressure adjustment which allows consistent working pressure. Each brush has its own individual height adjustment motor to keep the correct working height. The pressure, controlled by the brush motor absorption and the special HCS (Hydraulic Compensation System), is independent on each brush. This guarantees optimal grinding action apart from the board surface, thus ensuring accurate surface treatment, minimal board stretching and reduced copper removal, without hole defects (ovalization). The potential damage to the panel edges is prevented by controlling the specific approaching cycle of each individual brush. The grinding action starts only after a preset area of the brush will be in contact with the panel. The oscillation, controlled by brushless motor, is adjusted automatically or manually, to the defined working area, thus avoiding damage on the panel sides. Lubricating water is fed through the brush drive shafts to improve cooling of the board and brushes. The water flow and the centrifugal action of the brushes carry away the particles generated during the scrubbing action. The Flatstar series is designed to support different types of brushes that process the panel individually, to obtain the correct surface roughness for the following process. The Special Brushes, designed and manufactured by Wise, are the result of an exhaustive and thorough material research and development programme to ensure long life and compensate uneven boards. Different brush constructions and abrasive categories are available to support the specific process requirement. B r u s h e s h a v e b e e n developed with a quick lock system and can be changed easily by the operator without special tools. A semi-automatic cycle brings each brush to a dedicated area of the structure for change out. Brushes are then automatically re-positioned at the correct height. The brushes don t need to be rectified with the use of dressing plate after the installation or time to time during the operation, thanks to the individual brush adjustment. The versatile design of Flatstar allows to change only the brush whenever it is necessary thus it is possible to change only one brush without the need to change the complete set with an important reduction of the running cost.

The Flatstar series is able to process panels from 0.3 to 10 mm (.012 to.394) thickness as a standard. For special thickness requirement, please contact our technical department The modular design of the single side processing series offers the in line option of adding a turn over device between 2 Flatstar machines for automatic double side production. For more complex processing lines, various rinsing modules such as Ultrasound and/or Super High Pressure modules may be added. A variety of Drying Module configurations are available to meet all production requirements. The Flatstar may be utilized in many other processes in the production of printed circuits or metal surface treatment. The transport system begins with the entry conveyor consisting of Stainless Steel rollers with rubber sleeves. Full rubber rollers and a conveyor belt, which is moving over an antifriction flat worktop, carry the panels through the brushing section. For easy maintenance, the conveyor belt can be removed through a dedicated opening from the side of the machine. Rubber rollers are specifically designed for easy and swift removal. One step quick disconnect parts reduce preventative maintenance downtime. A l l m o d u l e s a r e equipped with security switches which, if triggered, shut down the machine. Conveyor speeds are adjustable by means of inverter driven AC motors and corresponding display.

Ultrasound Super High Pressure In cases of semi hole plugging or particular jobs with small holes, the Flatstar may require the addition of Ultrasound and/or Super High Pressure modules. T h e U l t r a s o u n d M o d u l e u s e s U l t r a s o n i c e n e r g y p r o v i d e d b y a generator through emitters applied to a water bath through which the boards are conveyed. The boards c o n v e y e d t h r o u g h t h e S u p e r H i g h Pressure Module are sprayed by two piston pumps with water which is filtered a n d r e - c i r c u l a t e d f r o m a s u m p. T h e staggered position n o z z l e s o s c i l l a t e to cover the entire conveyor width and thoroughly clean the holes with strong jets of water at a pressure o f a p p r o x i m a t e l y 100 bar. The above m o d u l e s a r e a l s o available as stand alone units. Flatstar The used water is highly contaminated with copper. This contamination can be greatly reduced by employing copper separators Custar, Copperstar or Paperstar. The Flatstar includes an electrical control cabinet with interface display located on the input conveyor. A free standing electrical control cabinet with 10 meters of cable to permit a more flexible location is available as an option.
