Fume Hood and Safety Cabinet Certification and Validation VWRCATALYST offers certification and validation services for chemical fume hoods and biosafety cabinets through our network of highly qualified service providers. ASHRAE 110-1995 including face velocity profile testing, smoke generation testing, and tracer gas testing NSF standard 49 IQ/OQ/PQ What is ASHRAE 110-1995? ASHRAE 110-1995 is a three part test: face velocity profile test, smoke generation test, and tracer gas test. FACE VELOCITY PROFILE TEST: Measures the speed of the air movement within a fume hood. An average reading is calculated from measurements taken from multiple points within the fume hood. SMOKE GENERATION TEST: Visual test that uses various smokegenerating substances to verify the fume hood s containment properties. TRACER GAS TEST: Tracer gas (usually sulfur hexafluoride) is injected into the fume hood while a mannequin is placed outside the fume hood to simulate an operator. The face of the mannequin is fitted with a tracer gas detector that will take readings for a duration of five minutes. Final readings are compared to specified acceptance criteria. 6 VWRCATALYST Equipment and Instrument Services
