Position Description & Expectations Position Title: Immediate Supervisor's Position Title: FLSA Status: Education Consultant Supervisor Manager of Education Services Exempt Pay Band: Grade 14 Job Summary: Assist the Manager of Education Services in program development and assist with the implementation of education services for Region V school districts. Provide Leadership Development, Strategic Planning, or Innovation in Education as assigned by the Manager of Education Services. Provide supervision for Education Consultants and Senior Education Consultants. A. Essential Duties and Responsibilities a. Assist the Manager of Education Services (MES) in Program Development i. Assist in the research of educational programming based on current, evidence-based practices in the field and the needs of member schools as well as future needs in program planning as directed by the MES. ii. Assist in the development of educational programming with leading educational researchers, universities, Minnesota Department of Education, and other professional organizations as directed by the MES. iii. Assist with analyzation of data trends of educational needs, program effectiveness, and services related to member schools as a potential option for program development as directed by the MES. iv. Assist the MES by providing support to Education Consultants in the areas of job-embedded training for staff in evidence-based practices, professional development, and leadership necessary for effective implementation of program. b. Apprenticeship of new Education Consultants i. Model and coach new Education Consultants in all areas of the education consultant s roles and responsibilities following the established protocol
and under the direction of the MES. (see Education Consultant job description for details of the above mentioned roles and responsibilities) ii. Mentor and assist new Education Consultants as they design education programs, for delivery to schools and communities. iii. Mentor and support new Education Consultants during launching of new program initiatives for Educational Services of NJPA with member schools. iv. Meet with new Education Consultants on a regular basis and provide feedback on their progress; also provide regular progress reports to the MES. c. Program Coordination i. Coordinate and implement professional development for Region V school districts as assigned by the MES. 1. Work with district s leadership team and administration to plan and implement Professional Learning Community (PLC) content. 2. Support continuous professional development activities within schools. 3. Provide on-site, job-embedded options for professional development support. 4. Work with staff in the use of evidence-based findings and oversee progress of action plans. 5. Provide support to principal and leadership team members. 6. Develop presentations for use in professional development training sessions, Leadership Team Meetings, and Administrative/Board Meetings. d. Other areas of work that may be assigned to the Sr. Education Consultant by the MES include: i. Leadership Development 1. Acquire, plan, and communicate professional development/leadership training opportunities for schools and communities. 2. Administer the strategic planning of leadership development in organizations. 3. Integrate leadership models in the development of customized training that meets the leadership needs of the organization. 4. Facilitate training models in leadership for programs in schools, cities and counties. 5. Provide coaching and apprenticeship for leadership to build leadership capacity across organizations. ii. Strategic Planning with School District Administration
1. Plan and implement the strategic planning process to be used in District Strategic Planning with the MES, Data Consultant, and all other education consultants working with the district. 2. Work through the process of strategic planning with all stakeholders of the school district. 3. Monitor follow-through and evaluate the implementation and sustainability of the plan. iii. Innovation in Education 1. Analyze data trends of educational needs, program effectiveness, and services related to member schools as potential options for program development, grant writing, and continuous improvement planning. 2. Research and develop programs that have been recommended by MES or member schools through analyzing needs. e. Supports Manager of Education Services with Personnel Management i. Approves time off, reimbursable expenses, and changes to work schedule ii. iii. iv. Leads the performance evaluation of assigned staff Provides supervision of assigned staff and workload Provides project management for day to day operations v. Directs the work of others within their assigned group f. Leadership i. Attend meetings, in the absence of and/or as directed by the MES, including but not limited to, district leadership and agencies at the national, state, and/or local level that connect to development of programs that have been identified through a needs assessment. g. Other duties as assigned B. Work Requirements and Characteristics a. Directly supervises the following Positions: i. None b. Work is performed under normal office conditions and there are minimal environmental risks or disagreeable conditions associated with work. Work involves continuous contacts and interactions with the public, staff, elected officials, outside agencies, citizen groups, the media and others. c. Physical requirements: i. Bachelor s degree in elementary or secondary education b. Current Minnesota teaching license c. Minimum 10 years of experience in the field of education d. 2 years of experience in leading and/or directing staff e. Experience in application of current evidence-based practices in instruction and professional development f. Demonstrated proficiency or evidence of ability to perform all the roles and responsibilities of an Education Consultant g. Valid MN Driver s License E. Preferred Qualifications a. Master s degree in the field of education b. 5 years of experience in leading or supervising teams c.
