IBM cuts test environment deployment time by 89 percent Private test cloud simplifies test environment creation and management The need: The IBM WebSphere Application Server software test team sought to boost efficiency while reducing administration costs and improving product quality. The solution: To address its needs, the WebSphere Application Server software test team used the IBM Workload Deployer appliance to create a private cloud. The cloud enables the IBM team to create and manage development and test environments quickly for the entire organization. The team initially began using the new solution to deploy WebSphere software testing topologies and later moved on to deploy complete performance environments including IBM WebSphere, IBM Rational and IBM Tivoli software. Before the new solution, a single IBM system administrator could adequately manage 1,000 cores of bare metal. Now, a system administrator can easily manage 16,000 cores. The benefit: Increases administration efficiency by 16 times while helping save USD515,000 Reduces deployment time by 89 percent, from three hours to just 20 minutes Increases hardware use from 6 percent to 60 percent Private Cloud, PaaS Development and testing environment Solution component: IBM Workload Deployer WSP14442-USEN-00
