CURRENT HYDROLOGY PROBLEMS COLORADO DRAINAGE BASIN IS SO OVER USED THE COLORADO RIVER NO LONGER REACHES THE PACIFIC OCEAN. SERVES UTAH, COLORADO, ARIZONA, NEW MEXICO, NEVADA, CALIFORNIA, AND MEXICO.

FLAMING GORGE DAM MAJOR PART OF THE COLORADO RIVER PROJECT PROVIDES HYDROELECTRIC POWER, FLOOD CONTROL AND WATER STORAGE FOR SEVERAL STATES TOOK 8 YEARS TO BUILD, 1958-1964 ALSO USED TO REGULATE WATER FLOWS WHEN HEAVY RAINS OCCURRED IN THE 1980S THE DAM TRAPPED WATER IN THE RESERVOIR THAT WOULD HAVE DAMAGED NEARBY COMMUNITIES

BLUE CASTLE HOLDINGS: WE WANT A NUCLEAR POWER PLANT COMPANY CLAIMS 53,600 ACRE-FEET OF WATER IN THE GREEN RIVER UTAH COURT SAID THAT THE PROJECT WOULD NOT REDUCE WATER LEVELS IN THE RIVER AND THAT THEY HAVE PERMISSION TO START BUILDING THE NUCLEAR PLANT ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS SAY IT WILL AFFECT THE AMOUNT OF WATER IN THE RIVER AND COULD CAUSE DAMAGE/HARM TO PEOPLE LIVING NEAR BY COURT SAYS THEY WILL STOP THE PROJECT IF IT WERE FOUND HARMFUL TO THE PUBLIC WELFARE.

COMPANY NEWS STATEMENT THE PROPOSED MULTI-UNIT NUCLEAR PLANT COULD INCREASE THE ELECTRICITY GENERATED IN UTAH BY APPROXIMATELY 30 PERCENT.. USING LESS THAN 1 PERCENT OF THE STATE S CURRENT WATER.
