PRODUCT DATA SHEET SikaFuko VT Re-injectable hose system with integral valves for sealing construction joints in watertight concrete structures PRODUCT- DESCRIPTION USES PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS TESTING & APPROVALS Re-injectable joint sealing hose system with unique integral valves and all necessary accessories and fixings for reliable and secure waterproofing of construction joints in watertight concrete structures. -1 (6mm injection tube) and -2 (10 mm injection tube) are used for the engineered waterproofing of construction joints and as extra security for other expansion and construction joint waterproofing systems in watertight concrete construction. When cast in the structure, the system allows targeted injection of the joint or other areas using a suitable injection material. If water flushable injection materials, such as acrylate resins or a micro-fine cement based suspension are used, multiple re-injection operations are possible over the life of the structure, by vacuuming the hoses after each injection. Unique valve techniques for reliable injection Different versions with 6 (VT-1) or 10 mm (VT-2) injection tubes are available Re-injectable with Sika acrylic resins and micro-fine cement suspensions. One-time injectable with Sika polyurethane and epoxy resins Easy to install without disrupting formwork and reinforcement installation Tested in water pressures up to 10 bar (100 mws) Suitable for many different structures and construction methods Long-term references on many international projects Quick and easy installation without any effect on formwork and reinforcement works Can be used on a wide range of substrates MPA NRW: P-22-MPANRW-2368/2 - German Approval for use in construction joints (01.12.04) WISSBAU: Tested for use in construction joints (28.01.04) 1/7

More detailed information is available in the Certificate of Compliance. injection hoses can be used as back-up and to provide additional security for internal and external waterbars. It is attached to the waterbars by clips or clamps. The German Federal Specification for road tunnels (RIZ TFUG) uses internal expansion joint waterbars with the additional security of an injection hose as their Standard design. injection hoses can also be used as a secondary waterproofing system in critical areas. It is then normally installed on the water side. The clearance between the injection hose and waterbars or joint sheet waterstops, should be at least 5 cm. The injection hose location and positioning must also be defined on the basis of the structures thickness. 3/7
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS ASSEMBLY Cutting - The hose should be cut to the desired length. - To prevent the nylon mesh fraying, insulating tape should be wound around the cut end of the hose. Cutting the accessories for the end pieces: - The fabric reinforced PVC end hose (green, transparent) is cut to the desired length (standard ca. 40 cm). - The connecting tube and the shrink-on sleeve are cut to a length of approx. 5-6 cm for each end. Assembly: - A drop of superglue is applied on one half of the connecting tube, which is inserted halfway into the hose s central injection tube (Fig. 1). - A drop of superglue is then applied on the second half of the connecting tube. The fabric reinforced PVC end hose (green, transparent) is slid over the connecting tube (Fig. 2). - The shrink-on sleeve is then installed over the connection between the PVC end hose and the injection hose. This is carefully heated with a hot air gun and the sleeve shrinks to firmly hold the assembled hose section together (Fig. 3). - The injection grouting ends are sealed with closure plugs to prevent the entry of other materials(fig. 4). - The hose is now ready for installation 4/7
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Installation - The system is normally installed in lengths of up to 12 m. The prepared end hoses have to be included in this length. Longer lengths may be possible dependent on the location and the intended injection material. - The injection hose is usually installed on the hardened concrete surface in the middle of the construction joint. A minimum concrete cover of 10 cm over the injection hose must be maintained in reinforced concrete structures (Fig. 1). - The minimum distance between two parallel hose sections, e.g. at junctions, must be 5 cm. (Fig. 2). - If two injection hoses cross for construction reasons, e.g. at junctions, the upper hose must be installed using a section of PVC end hose (Fig. 2). Fixing - The injection hose is fixed to prevent it from sliding or floating in the fresh concrete with special clips or clamps at intervals of approx. 20-25 cm. These clips are pressed into 6 mm Ø drill holes (Figs. 2 & 4). - The injection hose should not be fastened to the reinforcement bars. It must lie flat throughout, and be routed in such a way that it is not buckled or constricted (Fig. 3). Junction boxes - For injection operations, the injection pumps are normally connected to the hose vent ends which are housed in protective junction / end boxes (Fig. 5, left). - The end hose section between the injection point and the injection hose must be embedded in concrete with a minimum cover of 5 cm. - The junction boxes must be located approx. 15 cm above horizontal construction joints or positioned adjacent to the vertical construction joints. Any other complex details / constraints must also be allowed for. - When installing the protective junction boxes, the injection and vent ends are both taken approx. 10 cm into the box so that the ends are accessible for injection later. - The protective junction boxes or injection packers must also be located where are still easily accessible for injection later. Injection ports or packers - The injection hose can also be injected through individual injection ports/packers (Fig. 5, right) or via the connection hose ends provided they have been continued sufficiently outside of the concrete (Fig. 5, centre). Documentation - The precise location of the protective junction end boxes or injection packers and the route of the injection hose should be carefully recorded (in as built drawings). 5/7
INJECTION Injection material The injection hose and the injection material together are a system which must therefore be tested for compatibility. Not every injection material is suitable for injection through hoses, as the injection material must have the following properties: - Adequate viscosity (< 200 MPa at 20 C) - Adequate curing time (> 20-30 min.) The hose is injectable with several different Sika injection materials: Re-injectable: - Acrylate resins - Microfine cement suspensions - Cement paste ( 2 only) One-time injectable: - Polyurethane resins - Epoxy resins Principles of the hose systems During Concreting The neoprene strips close the injection openings so that no cement grout can enter the hose during the concrete placement. (Fig. 1). During Injection The injection pressure from inside the hose compresses the neoprene strips and allows the injection material to flow out from the openings located along the hose length. This enables a uniform discharge of the material over the whole length of the hose, which therefore has a high level of joint / void sealing and waterproofing capability (Fig. 2). Cleaning by vacuum When using acrylate resins or micro fine cement suspensions for injection, the hoses can be re-injected by vacuuming and flushing with water after each injection. The hose is then ready for any further re-injection (Figs. 3 & 4). Testing the watertightness The watertightness of the joints and the structure can also be tested using the hoses, by applying a defined water pressure through the hose. IMPORTANT NOTE s alone are not suitable for sealing movement joints. They can only be used for sealing movement / expansion joints when used in combination with suitable expansion joint waterbars. 6/7
