Objectives As energy security becomes an ever more important agenda amongst northeast Asian Countries, with the Russian Federation planning to announce the unified gas extraction system, transportation, and gasification in East Siberia and the Far East for the possible gas export to Asian-Pacific countries, it is expected that natural gas development and its utilization in the region will enter a new era in 2005. The 9th International Conference, therefore, will primarily tackle issues and focus on the natural gas projects in the region, especially on East Siberia and the Far-eastern region of Russia and northeast Asian countries policies toward the enhancement of natural gas utilization and the promotion of the pipeline network in northeast Asia. The objectives of the Conference are: a) to discuss northeast Asian issues on natural gas and pipeline, b) to exchange academic and business information, c) to promote mutual understanding amongst the participants and d) to contribute to the rapid promotion of the operational Northeast Asian Natural Gas Pipeline Network. The language medium for the conference will be English and Korean. 1

Northeast Asian Gas And Pipeline Forum 1. Objectives The representatives of the Republic of Korea, Japan and China of the 3rd Conference on Northeast Natural Gas Pipeline in Seoul on 4-7 November, 1997, adopted the statutes and established the Northeast Asian Gas and Pipeline Forum as a non-profitable organization for international cooperation.
