Available Trim Installation (cont.) Ensure the radiant heat surface temperature never exceeds 81 F. Before installing over newly constructed radiant heat systems, operate the system at maximum capacity to force any residual moisture from the cementitious topping of the radiant heat system. Then set the thermostat to a comfortable room temperature for the installation. It is recommended that the radiant heat be applied in a gradual manner after installing the laminate flooring. Refer to the manufacturer recommendations for additional guidance. Before You Start Trim pieces have a wood polymer composite (WPC) core Each trim piece is 95 in length It is recommended to predrill holes Installation Keep the boards in room temperature for at least 48 hours in unopened package before you start the installation. The room temperature must be at least 65 F before and during installation. For floor surfaces exceeding 1,076 sqft and/ or at lengths exceeding 60 linear feet and overlaps to new rooms and floor surfaces which do not join symmetrically, use expansion joints to divide the floor sections. Inspect your subfloor. It must be clean, dry, and level to within 3/16 within a 10ft span. It is recommended to repair any loose boards or squeaks before you begin installation. With a floating floor, you must always ensure you leave a 3/8 gap between walls and fixtures (pipes, pillars, stairs, etc.) When installing around pipes, drill holes 3/4 larger than the diameter of the pipes. Choose an underlay material. Relative humidity levels of your room should be maintained at 35-60% at 65-75 F. It is recommended to install the length direction of the planks parallel to the main light direction. For vertical installations, you can use either finish nails or glue to adhere Enduracore to the wall. Measure the area to be installed. The board width of the last row shall not be less than 2. If so, adjust the width of the first row to be installed. When measuring, take the free gap requirement of about 3/8 of the floor perimeter into account. In narrow hallways, install the floor parallel to the lengthways. Inspect your laminate flooring. No claims relating to surface defects will be accepted after installation. Work from multiple cartons to ensure proper variation. Protecting Walls and Floors from Wood Stoves Install a noncombustible floor pad surrounding the base of the stove for a minimum area. Like clearance areas, this minimum is specified by local law. At least 18 inches of pad in front of the stove door and 8 inches on the other sides is required. The pad isn t designed to protect your floor from overheating but to ensure that no stray sparks or embers from the stove set the floor on fire. The floor pad can be brick, concrete, slate, ceramic tile, or another noncombustible material; in most cases, it may not be installed on top of carpeting. The Wood Heat Organization recommends setting the floor pad so that it s flush with the surrounding flooring you don t want to remove a fire hazard but create a tripping hazard. Floating Installation Begin first by installing a foam underlay in the same direction as the flooring planks. The underlay should be butted side-by-side with no overlap. Tape seams together. If you are installing over a concrete subfloor, a 6-mil poly (plastic sheeting) is to be installed under the foam underlay. Many foam underlays already have this plastic sheeting attached. Remeber when installing your laminate floor to leave an open expansion gap of minimum 3/8 around the perimeter of the room (use wedges), and also at pipes, stairs, columns, doorframes, and thresholds. The floor must be able to move free do not connect or install tight to any construction part. Install to a maximum of 33ft length/width at a time. If the room is larger, allow for an expansion gap which can be covered with the appropriate laminate T-mold. Also leave an expansion gap to separate areas in rooms that are off square (for example L-, F-, T-, U- shapes). Always leave expansion gaps in door openings. Installation Method First plank, first row. Place a distance 3/8 width to the left and position the plank against the wall. After 3 rows, reposition the flooring against the front wall for the 3/8 expansion gap. At the end of the first row, leave an expansion gap of 3/8 to the wall and measure the length of the last plank to fit. If cutting with a jig saw, the laminate surface should be turned down. If cutting with a hand saw, the laminate surface should be face up. Second plank, first row. Place this plank tight to the short end of the first one. Fold down with a single action movement. Second row, first plank requires a minimum length of 1ft 7-11/16. Leave an expansion gap of 3/8 against the wall. Generally, the minimum distance between short ends of planks in parallel rows shall not be less than 6. Subfloors with Radiant Heat Due to the speed of sudden temperature changes which has potential to negatively affect laminate flooring construction, it is not recommended to install with an electrical radiant heating system. This will not be covered by the manufacturer s warranty. Below instructions are for radiant heating systems using water. Install the second plank of the second row. Place the panel tight to the short end of the previous panel and fold down in a single action movement. After 2-3 rows, re-posiion the floor to adjust the distance to the front wall to ensure an expansion gap of 3/8.

Practical Tips Care & Maintenance Clean the floor regularly with a vacuum cleaner or dry mop. If necessary, the floor may be cleaned with a well wrung cloth and a synthetic detergent. Avoid using too much water. Spillages of water should be wiped off immediately. To protect the floor from sand we recommend you to use the doormats at entries (but do not use mats with a rubber backing). The ideal room humidity is 40-60% and temperature of 68 F. To protect your laminate floor, we recommend the following precautions: Avoid contact with dirt, sand, grit, and substances such as oil or asphalt by placing carpets and vinyl-back doormats at the front and back door. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for prolonged periods, as this can cause discoloration. Use floor protectors and furniture legs/wheels with a large ground surface to limit the impact of heavy objects. Maintain a relative indoor air humidity of between 40 and 60% all year round, in order to limit natural expansion and contraction of the wood. Avoid cutting and grooving in your flooring by sharp objects. If you have chairs with wheels, make sure they are made of soft rubber. The surface of your new laminate flooring is particularly durable and wear resistant, so that it requires no additional treatment. No need for sanding, varnishing, polishing, or waxing, meaning that the typical and intrinsic properties of your laminate flooring are retained. Dezign North America laminate floors have a hard, closed surface, so that you needn t always clean it with a damp mop. Every once in a while will do. This way, you avoid lasting damage to your floor. Cleaning The first time: Remove all dirt and dust with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a soft parquet brush. Clean the floor with a dry dust cloth. Replace the dust cloth and clean again. Remove any remaining dirt with a laminate cleaner. Replace the dust cloth with a slightly damp cloth and clean again. If necessary, repeat the slightly damp cleaning process. Daily use: Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft parquet brush or dry electrostatic dust cloths that attract dirt, dust, and hair like a magnet.
