1. INTRODUCTION As per conditions M1 to M6 of EPL 631, this report summarises environmental monitoring results for Ivanhoe No2 Colliery for the October 2012 period. Monitoring sites are shown on the Ivanhoe No2 Site section of the Centennial website and in Appendix 1. A summary of the licence information is provided in the following tables. Table 1 shows the license information and Table 2 summarises the dates and units for monitoring data for the reporting period. LDP002 and LDP004 did not discharge during the reporting period and therefore sampling of discharge was not required. 2. RAINFALL A summary of rainfall data recorded at the on-site meteorological monitoring station during the reporting period is shown in Table 3 below. Total rainfall is measured on site. Median and Mean rainfall are taken from the long term monthly averages for the Bureau of Meteorology s Lithgow (Birdwood Street) station Table 3 Rainfall Summary Month Total Rainfall (mm) Median Rainfall (mm) Mean Rainfall (mm) Apr-12 15 50.5 63.7 May-12 15.4 45.6 64.2 Jun-12 29 52 67.1 Jul-12 49.5 48 67.7 Aug-12 22 48.6 64.2 Sep-12 31 53.4 59 Ocr-12 13.5 59.5 67.7 3. AIR QUALITY MONITORING The air quality monitoring results for the reporting period are summarised below. 3.1 Depositional Dust A depositional dust (g/m2/mth) result (insoluble solids) for October 2012 is shown in Table 4. Table 4 Depositional Dust April 2012 May 2012 June 2012 July 2012 August 2012 September 2012 October 2012 Dust Gauge 1 0.6 0.2 0 0.4 0.2 1.2 0.6 A graphical representation of depositional dust monitoring data since April 2012 is shown below in Figure 1. 2
Figure 1 Dust Gauge 1 Depositional Dust Although EPL631 does not apply a dust limit, a rolling average air quality criteria of 4 g/m 2 /mth is commonly used for comparison purposes. 3
4. SURFACE WATER QUALITY Surface water ph, Total Suspended Solids, Filterable Iron and Oil & Grease are monitored at LDP002 during discharges (Table 5). Surface water ph and Oil & Grease are monitored at LDP004 during discharges (Table 5 and Figures 2 & 3). There were no discharges from LDP002 or LDP004 in October 2012 therefore no monitoring of discharge required for this month. The following table and figures are provided for reference only.
