Surplus mortar shall be removed immediately from all brick and adjacent surfaces..2 Prehydrate pointing mortar by mixing ingredients dry, then mix again adding just enough water to produce damp workable mix that will retain its form when pressed into a ball. Allow to stand for not less than 1 hour but not more than 2 hours then remix with sufficient water to produce mortar of proper consistency for pointing. Tuckpoint with new mortar and tool joint to match existing..3 Mortar to be layered ½" maximum where deep joints occur.
