It is hoped that invigilators would work towards the role of Lead/Senior Invigilators who could successfully run exam sessions under the guidance of the Examinations Officer. Successful candidates would be expected to undertake Safeguarding training and invigilation training prior to the start of their first exam series. EXAMS INVIGILATOR Terms and Conditions Start Date April 2012 Status Hours of work Casual workers to join our pool of Exam Invigilators who work flexibly on an ad hoc basis according to need Variable daily start and end times to suit the needs of exams schedules will be provided. Pensions Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, administered by Worcestershire County Council, is available for contracts exceeding 3 months duration. As this employment would be on a casual basis the scheme is not available. Holidays The entitlement to holidays is pro rata to full-time Support Staff and taken during College holidays and paid in addition to the hourly rate. Full year Support Staff receive 25 working days plus 8 public holidays. Pay Invigilators are paid at the rate of 9.24 per hour (point 16 on the support staff salary spine), including holiday pay at the rate of 14.54% of the hourly rate. Lead Invigilators are paid at the rate of 9.60 per hour (point 18 on the support staff salary spine), including holiday pay at the rate of 14.54%. JOB TITLE: JOB PURPOSE: Exams Invigilator To supervise examinations and to ensure that guidelines and regulations for the integrity and security of the examination papers and procedures are followed during examination sessions. RESPONSIBLE TO: CIS Office Manager/Examinations Officer MAJOR TASKS 1 To act as a senior/lead invigilator as required. 2 To ensure a calm environment to give the candidates the best possible exam experience. 3 To set up the examination rooms as determined by the Exams Office. 4 To be aware of any needs that candidates may have during an examination. 5 To ensure that candidates follow the regulations of an examination room as laid out in the examination guidelines and to be vigilant at all times. 6 Ensure all candidates are aware of the pre-exam start information and of any erratum notice that may affect them. 7 To ensure all candidates are seated, as far as possible, to the seating plans provided. 8 To ensure start and finishing times are displayed clearly. 9 To ensure all candidates receive appropriate examination question papers and answer sheets. 10 To record attendance on the appropriate attendance register. 11 To ensure that there is no talking or disruption for the candidates once an examination has begun. 12 If malpractice is suspected, to refer the matter to the Examinations Officer as soon as possible. 13 To ensure answer scripts are collected, sorted into candidate number order and supervised as required, taking them safety to the Exams Office for despatch. 14 Ensure that efficient time-keeping is maintained. 15 To attend meetings and training conducted by the Examinations Officer as and when required.

When shortlisting the panel will seek evidence of the criteria above. In addition to candidates ability to perform the duties of the post, the interview will also explore issues relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people including: motivation to work with them, ability to form and maintain appropriate boundaries and emotional resilience when dealing with issues of student discipline.
