Course Description: As statedin the approvedstudy plan. This course introduces students to the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems- the Manufacturing Modules. ERP systems are the first generation of enterprise software is meant to integrate data and support all the major functions of the manufacturing organization. 1

Course aims and outcomes: A- Aims: The main goal of this course is to enable students to gain knowledge and skills on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems can integrate data across manufacturing organization to support all major functions of the enterprise. B- Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs): Upon successfulcompletionof thiscoursestudentswillbeableto Successful completion of this course should lead to the following learning outcomes: A- Knowledge and Understanding: Students should A1: Understand Manufacturing Information Systems concepts, types, models, structures, operations, controls, security, and development environment. A2: Illustrate how the creative use of information technology can give Industry a competitive advantage. A3: Describe business intelligence and its role in manufacturing. A4: Define manufacturing information systems, list its components, and identify the type of applications it is suited to. A5: Describe manufacturing information systems modules. A6: Explain the relationship between the organization s roles and goals and the IT infrastructure. B- Intellectual skills: with the ability to B1) Analyze and compare the advantages of MRP, MRPII, and ERP in increasing employee productivity in manufacturing. B2) Design newmanufacturing information Systems. B3) Think how to improve team collaboration by using, Collaboration system, Groupware. C- Subject specific skills with ability to C1) Use Win QSB or DBA manufacturing software to see how the BOM, MPS, IVM, andmrpcan work. C2) Implement practical cases, by using Win QSB or DBA manufacturing software. D- Transferable skills with ability to D1) Discuss and work in a group in order to design and write the specification of a new case. D2) Work in a group in order to implement Win QSB or DBA manufacturing software that adheres to the specification of the newly designed cases. D3) Work with other groups in order to make different implementations, of the same case specification. D4) Present the final work (project) and make a demo. 21.
