In 2003, we established ICT Policy and one of its pillar is to leverage on ICT to deliver service to public. in 2009 we finalize our egov Strategy which follows by establishment of egov Agency in 2012

e-government Agency Overview The e-government Agency (ega) is established under the Executive Agencies Act No. 30 of 1997, Cap. 245 and its amendments as a semi-autonomous institution, with the mandate of coordination, oversight and promotion of e-government initiatives and enforcement of e- Government standards in the public service. Acquisition of Staff and Office Official took over the office on 01.04.2012, and the Agency was officially inaugurated on 12th July, 2012 To spearhead the Agency s initial take-off, I immediately borrowed 4 competent Staff from Various Public Institutions, and later I increased the number to 11. Several Documents are now available in the portal. Eg. There are 1424 Acts.., 108 Circulars, 640 Forms, 94 Policies etc. The list is long. Government news Paper now available online A number of online system like payment systems, tax returns, student loan application which are hooked to the Portal (our dashboard) One stop place you can find them.. Also have How do I section The Portal is designed in such a way that it can track all feedback Major systems: HCMIS Centralised anagement of Human Resources, Centralised Financial Management system

Have harmonized the Government Mobile Services accessing number to one block which is *152*00 for (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) USSD services and 15200 for SMS services. Preparing to promote it as a Magic Number Wakala ya Serikali Mtandao 43

Infrastructure Have of 7,560 kilometres of Optic Fibre Cable (OFC) Backbone covering all 25 regions and several districts of Tanzania Mainland, connectivity to submarine cables (EASSy & SEACOM) and cross-border connectivity with neighboring countries namely Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, Burundi and Zambia. Have just started the last mile connectivity to MDAs/LGAs Plans ahead to improve the LANs within the MDAs/MDAs

National ID system We consider National ID Very important for the development of our e-government initiatives The Government established the National Identification System, and the Agency (NIDA) in 2008, in order to: Manage identification of persons and provide secure ID cards to Tanzanian citizens, resident aliens and bona fide refugees Status: Registration, Production and Issuance of ID cards are in progress - Started with civil servants 45
