An initial assessment of Coolpac, a key cold chain packaging supplier, under the global supplier audit program was completed in 2015 however the site audit conducted was not completed but is planned in the first half of 2016. Roche globally transformed the way supplier audits sustainability into assurance visits with the aim of fostering the relationship and creating mutual benefit. Globally Roche conducted 182 supplier sustainability assurance visits worldwide, up from 166 in 2014. More details can be found at http://www.roche.com/sustainability/for_ partnership/suppliers/goals_performance.htm#p3 The Roche Group Sustainable Packaging Strategy was finalised in June 2014. Initial short term metrics (2014-2016) include benchmarking, development of metrics and networking internally and externally for sustainable packaging best practice. Roche Australia is noted as a key stakeholder in the implementation of the Sustainable Packaging Strategy and will contribute to the implementation of this strategy where applicable. Local tertiary packaging is labelled as recyclable where applicable.

Your Experiences This section lets you share with us any achievements, good news stories and areas of difficulties in making progress against your plan and the Covenant goals and KPIs. 30. Key achievements or good news stories In 2015 Roche faced a local challenge to meet new requirements for the shipping of ambient product (ie. +2 to +25 degrees). After a 12 week project of reviewing and testing options, a solution for the Sydney metro region was identified and able to meet quality requirements and improve environmental outcomes as well as remaining cost neutral. The solution involved the reuse of Getcool containers. These containers are used to send cold chain product to Roche Australia from our global manufacturers. By changing the number and temperature of the ice bricks used in transport we able to achieve the temperature outcomes required over the time period of transport. While these containers were previously recycled, we are now able to reduce waste and improve the environmental outcome by ensuring their reuse to achieve critical product quality outcomes. 3 Areas of difficulties in making progress against your plan, Covenant goals or KPIs
