Light Deprivation Curtains We re not afraid of the dark And why would we be? With over 40-years of experience in light deprivation and blackout curtains, we are your first choice for optimum darkness and reliability. Our projects are individually engineered to provide a perfect fit every time. Greenhouses are designed to accommodate plant growth by allowing in sunlight. Transforming that setting to a total blackout, light deprivation environment requires Wadsworth s knowledge and expertise. However, greenhouses do not provide the same level of darkness found in a grow room. Growth chambers will never offer the free sunlight of a greenhouse. Our light deprivation systems are dark below one unit of PAR (see chart). Because humans perceive light and plants utilize light, the measurement of the two aren t equivalent. Human perception of light is measured in Luminance and useable light for plants is measured in PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation). Humans can perceive light in an environment in which plants find no workable light. Necessary darkness levels required for cannabis continue to be studied by horticulturalists. A greenhouse using our light deprivation system may have pinhole leaks. If you desire darkness beyond what curtain systems can offer, a growth chamber may be your best choice. We have been successfully providing light deprivation systems for a variety of light sensitive crops for over 40-years and we believe our systems are the best. Total control over day length for light-sensitive plants Fabric humidity control keeps moisture from condensing on the curtain Custom engineering on every project All curtain systems have a firebreak or are flame retardant fabric Curtain is UV stable Long-life, high quality fabric Positive drive rack and pinion system means no cables to adjust Fabric glides between stationary stainless steel lines Built-in safety limits protect your system Small bundle size ensures minimal shade when the system is uncovered Flexible design allows for easy installation for new construction and retrofit projects Effective cooling when a reflective upper surface is chosen Energy savings Comparison of two-layer and three-layer systems: Dr. David Story, a staff researcher with Wadsworth Controls, collected light readings from two cannabis greenhouses under cloudless, early November Colorado skies. He compared an A+B (aluminum, black cloth) design two-layer system to an A+B+B (aluminum, black cloth, black cloth) three-layer system. (See table on page 2). Story, D. A white paper analysis of two blackout greenhouse curtain systems (Wadsworth Control Systems, 2014). Available at www.wadsworthcontrols.com Conditions and results: All readings have been filtered for the most accurate data GREENHOUSE 1: Three-layer product: aluminum fabric on the top with two layers of blackout fabric below (A+B+B) Outdoor solar light level reading of -1 1030 µmoles m-2 s -1 Spectrometer computed: 0.199 µmoles m-2 s Light Reduction: 99.98% GREENHOUSE 2: Two-layer product: aluminum fabric on the top blackout fabric on the bottom (A+B) Outdoor solar light level reading of -1 1250 µmoles m-2 s The spectrometer indicated 0.803 µmole m-2 s-1 Light reduction was 99.93% New readings will be collected and analyzed in this ongoing study, as is the gathering of solid data regarding the needs of the cannabis crop. Make every drop count Smart watering practices are something every grower understands. Crops depend on it; costs demand it. Our VersiSTEP control manages irrigation needs while maintaining the perfect growing climate. 3 independent, but integrated settings fine tune irrigation elapsed time down to the second accumulated light accumulated Vapor Pressure Gradient (VPG) VersiSTEP interfaces with fertigation injectors using a standard solenoid valve regulated through the control's irrigation program. The injector makes the decision for dose and the control manages the watering schedule Coordinate your available water pressure and volume to do more watering in the time available Be sure the benches that have waited longest for water are irrigated first Accommodates individual schedules for as many as 24 valves using VersiSTEP. Partner Wadsworth's Satellite for an additional 16 valves for a total of 40 valves. STEPsaver software allows remote access to your greenhouse Large, backlit screen A user interface that s simple to use with easy to navigate menus BENEFITS Increase profits by using water, fertilizer and other treatments efficiently Let your expert personnel have their hands and eyes on the crop, not a watering wand Better crop quality Decreased waste and associated costs Trust Wadsworth to design beyond your expectations.
