Question 1 a) Find the solution to the difference equations and the equilibrium value (if one exists). Discuss the long term behaviour of the solution and classify the equilibrium value as stable or unstable: i. ii. b) Data in Table 1 show the population of Malaysia from Years 2008-2013. If denotes the number of population after years, i. Calculate and plot the change, versus. Does the graph reasonably approximate a linear relationship? ii. Formulate a dynamical system model to estimate the change in the number of people in the population. Soalan 1 a) Cari penyelesaian kepada persamaan pembezaan yang berikut dan juga nilai keseimbangan (sekiranya wujud). Bincangkan sifat jangka panjang kepada penyelesaian yang diperoleh dan kelaskan nilai keseimbangan sebagai stabil atau tidak stabil. i. ii. b) Data di dalam Jadual 1 menunjukkan jumlah penduduk di Malaysia dari Tahun 2008-2013. Jika mewakili jumlah penduduk selepas tahun, i. Kira dan plot perubahan, melawan. Adakah graf yang diperoleh menggambarkan penyelesaian penghampiran kepada sebuah hubungan linear? ii. Rumuskan sebuah model sistem dinamik untuk menganggarkan perubahan di dalam bilangan populasi penduduk di Malaysia. Question 2 a) You currently have RM12000 in a savings account that pays 1% interest each month. On top of that, you add another RM700 each month to that account. Build a numerical solution AND determine when the savings in that account reaches RM50000. b) The city council is organizing a program to clean up a river. It was estimated that the river is contaminated with 500 tons of chemical pollutants from nearby industries. Approximately 15% of the pollutant present in the river is neutralized each year by solar oxidation and by streams leading into or out of the river. Studies estimate that the new pollutant amount entering the river is 25 tons per year. Analyze the effect of this program on the pollution level in the river. Soalan 2 a) Anda mempunyai wang simpanan sebanyak RM12000 di dalam akaun yang memberi faedah sebanyak 1% setiap bulan. Selain daripada itu, anda juga membuat penambahan sebanyak RM700 ke dalam akaun tersebut setiap bulan. Bina satu penyelesaian berangka DAN tentukan bila wang simpanan dalam akaun tersebut akan mencecah RM50000. b) Majlis perbandaran akan menganjurkan sebuah program untuk membersihkan sungai. Dianggarkan bahawa sungai itu tercemar dengan 500 tan bahan pencemar kimia dari industri berdekatan. Kira-kira 15% daripada bahan pencemar yang ada di dalam sungai dineutralkan setiap tahun oleh pengoksidaan solar dan oleh aliran sungai utama ke dalam atau ke luar dari sungai. Kajian menganggarkan bahawa jumlah bahan pencemar baru yang memasuki sungai adalah 25 tan setiap tahun. Berikan analisis kesan program ini pada tahap pencemaran sungai tersebut. [100 markah]

Question 4 a) An electrical firm manufactures circuit boards in two configurations, name configuration #1 and configuration #2. Each circuit board in configuration #1 requires one A- component, two B-components, and two C-components; each circuit board in configuration #2 requires two A-components, two B-components, and one C-component. The firm has twenty A-components, thirty B-components and twenty-five C-components available. If the profit realized upon sale is RM200 per circuit board in configuration #1 and RM150 per circuit board in configuration #2, how many circuit boards of each configuration should the electrical firm manufacture so as to maximize profits? b) Solve the following problem using graphical analysis.
