Standards and Testing Facilities Central Institute of Plastics Engineering Technology (CIPET) is a government supported organization and established as certifying agency for compostable plastics. CIPET also provides testing services and set up to do testing for biodegradation per ASTM D5338 and also disintegration per ASTM D6400 / ISO 17088. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has formed a sub committee PCD 12.6 Degradable Plastics sub committee. PCD 12.6 Degradable Plastics sub committee has adopted the ISO 17088:2008 Standards for Biodegradable Plastics under composting.
