the future of space conditioning Atrium heating panel Application Hospitals, commercial, hotels, schools, shops, sport halls, offices, laboratories, food industry, etc. Installation Ceiling integrated, plasterboard integrated, free-hanging or surface mounted Capacity Up to 548W/m 2 at 55.5 dtk. Features Tested to EN037 Extremely lightweight. Technology proven over 25 years. Low construction depth. High capacity. Cost effective. Simple to install. www.frenger.co.uk

Function With an output of 548w/m 2 at 55.5 dtk and weighing less than 6Kg/m 2 Atrium is one of the most efficient and lightweight radiant heating panels currently available. The secret to Atrium s outstanding performance lies in it s world patented method of encapsulating the water-carrying copper pipes within the heat radiating aluminium surface. The aluminium plate is metallurgically bonded with the copper pipe (the material being partly fused under very high pressure). Due to this 0% metal-to-metal contact between the copper waterways and the heat emitting surface the energy transport between the pipe and plate is extremely efficient. Additionally, the copper pipe is of a rhombic shape, ensuring turbulance at very low flow rates and optimum heat transfer. The manufacture of Atrium is fully automated in our purposebuilt factory; consequently panels can be produced to very high tolerances, and at great speed (up to 2500m 2 of product per week!). Furthermore, Atrium has been tested to the very latest European heating standard: EN 037. Atrium is available in three different widths. All with the same low inset depth 60 mm. Atrium is so lightweight and simple to install that it is most often fitted by the ceiling installer. Frenger can offer a bespoke installation service or on-site training to ensure that the installation is carried out to the very highest standard. Design Dimensions: Atrium is available in three widths 330 (width 33), 600 (width 60) and 870 mm (width 87). Widths are adapted in size (minus 8mm on length and width) so that panels can be integrated with a traditional suspended ceiling using exposed T-bars (mm wide) on a 600 x 600mm grid module. The depth of the Atrium panel is always 60 mm. Lengths: Atrium is produced in lengths from 0.6 m to 4.8 m in increments of 0.6 m for ceiling integration, and up to 6.0m long for free-hanging installation. Water connection: Atrium is available with four different manifold types depending on the width of the product and the required water mass flow rate,, 15 and 22. The flow and return copper pipe tails are always 15mm OD. This is to allow the pressure drop to be optimised with different dimensioning alternatives. Cross section of the rhombic water channel in Atrium. Surface finish: Atrium is powder coated as standard in NCS 0502-Y/RAL 90, gloss value 30%, emissivity 0.93. Application Atrium is particularly suited for use in hospitals, schools, shops and offices; in fact wherever there is a need for a high-output radiant heating panel which is simple to install and comes at a very competitive price. Atrium is the perfect solution for integration with an exposed grid ceiling, but is equally suited to surface mounting or free-hanging applications. 3 Atrium in a hospital reception area.

Ceiling integration, grid-supported The Frenger Atrium panel is extremely light and in fact weighs less than the majority of mineral fibre ceiling tiles - even when the Atrium panel is filled with water. Where Frenger-Approved ceiling grid systems are used, then the Atrium panel can be supported directly from the grid system. No additional support is necessary provided that our installation guidelines are adhered to. In this way installation time and cost can be minimised. Our Panel Securing Brackets are used to ensure system integrity at all times. For simplicity and flexibility we recommend that flexible stainless steel braided EPDM hoses are used to connect the Atrium panel. * Ceiling integration, independently-supported If preferred (or where non-approved grid systems are to be used) the Atrium panels can be fixed directly back to the structural soffit. Our Panel Suspension Bracket (PSB) is simple to fit anywhere along the length of the Atrium panel and has a locking facility for extra security. Each PSB is to be positioned no more than 1/4 panel length in from each end. For simplicity and flexibility we recommend that flexible stainless steel braided EPDM hoses are used to connect the Atrium panel. Our Atrium Installation Guide provides information to assist the installer and facilities management team. * Note * Optional foil-backed insulation shown. Standard insulation: extruded polystyrene cellular plastic, finished white. 4

Plasterboard integration Frenger have developed extruded aluminium profiles that allow a simple and pleasing integration between the Atrium panel and a plasterboard ceiling. Furthermore, integrated access panels are available to enable simple access to valves and connections. The Atrium panel, extruded aluminium profiles and access panel (where required) are supplied in dedicated kits with mitred corners and suspension brackets. The whole arrangement makes suitable allowance for thermal expansion. This arrangement is particularly suited to areas where security is of a primary concern; for example in hospital mental health units. Surface mounted The Frenger Atrium panel can be surface mounted directly to the soffit. Our Surface Mounting brackets are designed to securely retain the panel whilst making suitable allowance for thermal expansion. When surface mounting the supply pipework can be vertically or horizontally connected to the Atrium panel. Where horizontal connections are used we can supply customised cover plates to conceal the pipework and associated valves. 5

Atrium controls Frenger Systems have a wealth of experience in the design of radiant heating systems. As such we are able to offer advice and recommendations on the installation and control of our products. A basic representation for clarity; full schematics available upon request. The above diagram details a typical Atrium heating installation within a hospital ward. In this example the heating flow temperature is variable in response to changes in outside air temperature (Tao). The main control valve (CV1) will modulate according to changes and maintain flow temperature as scheduled by the Building Management System (BMS). This system of control will generally provide adequate control to corridors and other areas not subject to permanent occupancy or varying internal loads. Within wards, offices and areas requiring closer control of temperature we would recommend the use of two port on/off control valves as they are both simple and effective a change in demand sensed by room thermostat (T) will immediately fully open (CV2/3) ensuring design turbulent flow rate through emitter and maximum, immediate heat transfer to the space. Control Options Two Port Control Valve provides on/off control to radiant heating panels, ensuring immediate and full heating effect to a change in demand. Available in V, Normally Open (NO) /Normally Closed (NC). Visual indicator on actuator shows valve position at all times. All actuators are supplied in open position to enable fitting prior to flushing/commissioning. Single Stage Thermostat integrated temperature sensor and controller senses changes in room condition and opens and closes heating valve accordingly. Available in V and comes complete with LED display providing visual indication of heating operation and adjustable set-point control. It is possible to control up to actuators in a zone from a single thermostat. Two Stage Thermostat integrated temperature sensor and controller senses changes in room condition, opening and closing the heating and cooling valves accordingly. Units are factory set to provide a 1 C dead-band to prevent constant cycling of heating and cooling. Available in V and comes complete with LED display providing visual indication of heating or cooling operation and adjustable set-point control. It is possible to control up to actuators in a zone from a single thermostat. Care should be taken in the positioning of temperature sensors to ensure they are not affected by external influences i.e. direct solar radiation, lighting etc. Transformers to complete the package we also offer 0V/V transformers for use with our V controls. Available in two sizes 35vA and 5vA they can supply up to 8 and 35 actuators respectively. Two Port Control Valve Single Stage Thermostat
