We do this principally through complaints from members of the public and notifications from public sector entities, as well as through intelligence and research. We also have an important role in informing the public sector and community about the risks of corruption and misconduct and ways it can be prevented. Our jurisdiction covers state and local government, police, parliament and the judiciary. Purpose of the position The Operations Division actively contributes to the prevention and exposure of corruption through the Assessment and Review, Investigations, Digital Forensics and Collections and Surveillance teams. Responsible for investigating certain allegations within the Victorian public sector and Victoria Police, Investigations have multi-disciplinary teams consisting of investigators, intelligence analysts, support officers, forensic accountants and embedded lawyers. Reporting to the Team Leader, the Investigator is responsible for conducting investigations under limited guidance and supporting the Senior Investigators in complex investigations. The Investigator is responsible for implementing investigative plans, building productive working relationships across the business, assisting in the preparation of written materials supporting investigations and consulting with people who may assist in investigations. The Investigator is required to have experience in conducting investigations and have knowledge of the relevant legislation and industry standards. The Investigator has strong written communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, is able to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to analyse information and to make informed decisions and recommend further actions. Formal qualifications and / or training in investigations, law enforcement or a related discipline are advantageous. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Conduct investigations in accordance with legislation, procedures and industry standards Develop and implement investigative plans outlining the process, parameters, timelines and outputs consistent with policies and procedures under limited guidance Provide high level support on complex investigations Build and maintain productive working relationships across the business in a multi-disciplinary environment Develop and maintain sound professional relationships with key stakeholders Prepare complex written materials including affidavits and applications for warrants, briefs of evidence for court and other documents under limited guidance Prepare clear and robust reports and briefs with recommendations using information gathered, collated and interpreted during the course of an investigation under limited guidance Attend court and give evidence obtained through the process of the investigation Prepare for, and conduct, consultations with people who may assist with investigations and identify further actions to be approved by the Senior Investigator Execute search warrants and seize exhibits in accordance with legislation and procedures Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and IBAC s occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
