1979-2005 Successfully implemented projects on poverty alleviation as well as postdisaster recovery in China that had a value of more than US$1billion, assisting more than 30 million people, mostly in the remote central and western regions of the country. After 2005 China has become an increasingly significant donor to WFP s global activities, with over US$97.5 million in funding from the Government of China as of October 2016, in support of WFP s operations around the globe. 2015-2016 Memorandum of Understanding on South- South Cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture of the People s Republic of China and the United Nations World Food Programme.
