Page 1 of 3 GENERAL INFORMATION Reflexite GP025 reflective garment tape is a tough, flexible tape. The tape is designed to be heat applied to suitable background fabrics for use on EN471 High Visibility Garments. Finished garments should read 450 SIA brightness at 0.2 o Observation angle / 5 o Entrance angle. Reflexite GP025 should be applied using the recommedations below, however converters are also advised to determine which configuration best suits their substrate based on their individual equiment. These conditions will vary depending on the type of equipment, age, model etc & should be evauated accordingly to select the best processing condtions. It is strongly recommended to test Reflexite GP025 on the actual substrate before commencing production. The below guidelines are for continous heat press and stationary press lamination and are recommedations only. PREPARATION It is important to ensure the equipment being used can apply uniform heat & pressure during the lamination process. Ensure that the temperatures in each zone of the press are uniform across the width of the press. A handheld infrared thermometer is recommended when setting up to compare settings with actual conditions in the heat press. A tachometer is also recommended for setting the correct belt speed. As there can be great variability in the fabrics produced, variability in chemical treatments used on fabrics, and variability in the fusing methods and equipment, it is important that these parameters are evaluated for each application, and it remains the responsibility of the user to test the specific fabric to be sure that the adhesion of Reflexite GP025 is satisfactory. 1. Pre-Heat the press to the settings in Table 1 or Table 2 depending on substrate type and type of press. The temperature settings in Table 1 and 2 are equipment set points. Best performance is achieved by controlling tape exit temperatures (typically 10 o C below the equipment temperature) Fabric Substrate Temperature Time Pressure PVC Coated 145 O C 17 sec 1 Bar PU Coated 145 O C 17 sec 1 Bar Polycotton Blends 170 O C 17 sec 1 Bar Table 1 Operating Settings for a Continuous Heat Press FabricSubstrate Temperature Time Pressure* 2. It is necessary to determine if the chosen substrate will shrink at the above temperatures. To do this place a sample of the fabric on a flat table & mark a 100mm x 100mm square on the fabric using a permeant marker/pen. Pass the sample through the press. Allow to cool & meaure the % reduction in size, if the % reduction is greater than 3% in either direction then the substrate will need to be pre-shrunk in advance of applying the reflective tape. PVC Coated 150 o C 24 sec 0.5 Bar PU Coated 150 o C 24 sec 0.5 Bar Lightweight Polycotton Blend 150 o C 24 sec 0.5 Bar Heavyweight Polycotton Blend 180 o C 24 sec 0.5 Bar Table 2 Operating Settings for a Stationary Heat Press * = Pressure measured over entire press area These are recommendations for selected fabrics. Other fabrics are possible and need to be evaluated. 3. For best performance tape corners should be configured on the garment to allow them to be sealed into a seam. LAMINATION

Page 2 of 3 4. GP025 is provided with a protective liner on both sides of the tape. The Adhesive side (blue PE) liner must be removed prior to fabric lamination. The reflective side (white opaque PET) liner should be left on until after lamination is complete. In cases where more heat is required to LAMINATION properly laminate to a given fabric both liners may be removed in avance; however, tape non-uniformities may result. 5. Place the tape with the adhesive side facing the substrate. Do not stretch the tape as it is being applied. For best results ensure that the temperature and pressure are uniform across the width and through out the length of the press. 6. Allow the protective liner to cool to room temperature before stripping the liner, to remove lift the protective liner at one edge & separate from the reflective surface by gently pulling back onto itself.

Page 3 of 3 RECOMMENDED CARE SYMBOLS ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1. All candidate fabrics should be tested for adhesion and washability. Chemical fabric treatments, such as water repellent and water proof finishes, may contain silicone paraffin, fluorocarbon resin, or other material that may strongly influence the level of adhesion to the fabric and the lamination conditions. Since each lot of fabric has variation in construction and the amount of finishes applied, ORAFOL Reflective Solutions Ireland makes no warranty that the end product will be suitable for its projected use, or that the subsequent lots will perform in an identical manner. Allow 24 hours for curing after fusing before conducting any tests. 2. Other lamination methods can be used, in each instance the proper temperature, time & pressure settings must be tested for each fabric to ensure adequate adhesion. Do not HF weld through this tape IMPORTANT NOTICE All Reflexite and ORALITE products are subject to careful quality control throughout the manufacturing process and are warranted to be of merchantable quality and free from manufacturing defects. Technical Bulletin Garment Tape For application to EN471:2003 High Visibility garments Publication EU-300-33 Oct 2009 Page 1 of 1 Bulletin # 300-33 Product Garment Tape is a glass bead tape designed for heat application onto e.g. professional high visibility rain wear. Garment Tape exceeds the minimum reflectivity requirements of EN471 Level 2. Construction Garment Tape is composed of wideangle, exposed retroreflective lenses bonded to a heat activated polyurethane adhesive. The adhesive is protected by a plastic liner and the reflective side is protected by a paper liner. Colour Garment Tape is available in silver (daytime appearance) with a white reflected color. Reflectivity Garment Tape exceeds the minimum reflectivity requirements of EN471 Level 2, when tested at e = 0 or e = 90 in accordance with the procedures in EN471. Minimum coefficients of retroreflection are shown in Table I. Machine Washing ISO 6330:2000, Method 2A 25 washes at 60 C Dry Cleaning Do not dry clean. Application Instructions Garment Tape is of a single layer construction with a heat activated polyurethane adhesive backing. The protective plastic liner must be removed from the adhesive side prior to heat application. Reference Garment Tape Application Instructions for additional information.
