Simulation and modeling of the process through Finite Element Analysis. Definition of a mathematical model for the calculation and prediction of mold degradation. The R & D services commissioned as a result of this procedure will be implemented as part of Phase 1 of the project with the title "Research and development work on the process of forming of thick sheet metal with the use of innovative press with innovative tools, aimed at prolonging the useful life of the molds which will be presented for co-financing on the sub-measure 1.1.1 "Industrial research and development work carried out by the companies" of the 2014-2020 Smart Development Operational Program, managed by the NCBiR agency, and will be divided into 3 parts: Part 1. Study and definition of sensors and operating logics 1
Study of the sensors, in terms of force / pressure and temperature sensors, to be installed and interfaced with the innovative sensorized press. Study and definition of the functioning logics of the sensors to be installed on the innovative sensorized press. Study and definition of sensor positioning: Study and definition of sensor positioning according to the number of stations (variable) of the innovative sensorized press; Study and definition of the positioning of the force / pressure and temperature sensors inside and / or outside the molds. Expected results: Descriptive technical report of the chosen sensors, of the functioning logics of the sensors in relation to the innovative press, of the positioning of the sensors in the innovative press. Part 2. Study and definition of an innovative method for dimensional control of printed products. Study of repeatability and accuracy of contact measurement technologies, such as mechanical probe mounted on CMM. Study of the repeatability and accuracy of non-contact measurement technologies, based on the use of laser scanners and structured light. Definition of an innovative method, based on the combined use of different measurement technologies (contact and non-contact), able to decrease the measurement time, with the same accuracy and repeatability of the measurement. Laboratory tests aimed at defining the innovative measurement method. Expected results: Descriptive technical report of the innovative method for dimensional control of printed products studied and defined. Part 3. Definition of experimental plans Identification of the experimental plans to be carried out for: Evaluate the influence of the parameters of the molding process on wear and, therefore, on the duration of the molds; Evaluate the performance of the innovative method for dimensional control of printed products, in relation to the time taken for measurement and measurement accuracy. The aforementioned experimental plans must be in a minimum number of two. The first for the innovative press while the second for the innovative method. The first experimental plan will obviously have to be performed on the innovative sensorized press with force / pressure and temperature sensors. The product to be printed will be a mechanical component of the Automotive sector. The first experimental plan must be defined with a view to considering the wear of the mold as an output variable. The second experimental plan will obviously have to be carried out through the use of different measurement technologies, on test cases in the Automotive sector and in the Household appliance sector. The second experimental plan will have to be defined considering the geometry of the product to be measured as an independent variable and, consequently, as a 2
factor to evaluate the influence. The experimental plans should provide for the application of ANOVA techniques for the assessment of the influence of individual factors. The experimental plans will have to be defined with the aim of guaranteeing a rigorously scientific approach to the experimentation and will therefore allow to calculate the mean and variance of the data, to verify the normality of the same and allow to hypothesize descriptive equations of the variation of the variable output with respect to input variables. Expected results: Definition of the experimental plan for the study of mold wear. Definition of the experimental plan for the evaluation of the performance of the innovative measurement method. Part 4. Analysis of the data of the experimentation carried out on the press and definition of a mathematical model for the wear of the molds. The Consultant will have to support BORA POLAND in the realization of the mold wear tests. The aforementioned tests, carried out according to the experimental plan defined in the previous Part 3, must be carried out using the innovative sensorized press with the aim of studying the influence of force / pressure and temperature on the wear of the molds. The Consultant must perform an analysis of the data acquired through the tests aimed at: - quantitatively evaluate the influence of force / pressure on mold wear; - quantitatively evaluate the influence of temperature on mold wear. Therefore, the Consultant must define the mathematical relations between the variables of influence of wear (force / pressure and temperature) and the wear itself. The Consultant must also select a finite element calculation code to reproduce, through the code, the experimental process conditions. The Consultant must also calibrate the calculation made to the finite elements in relation to the experimental reality observed, in terms of the forces and temperatures of the processing. Finally, the Consultant will have to study and implement a method for calculating tool wear using the Finite Element Analysis code. Expected results Technical report describing the influence of the force / pressure and temperature parameters on mold wear. Mathematical model descriptive of the phenomenon of mold wear. Numerical simulations describing the process. Part 5. Analysis of experimentation data carried out on the innovative method for dimensional control of printed products. The consultant will have to analyze the data of the experimentation carried out on the innovative method by comparing the performance of the different measurement technologies in relation to the accuracy and repeatability of each of them. Specifically, starting from the analysis of the acquired data: - through the use of the mechanical probe mounted in the CMM; - through laser scanner; 3
- through structured light, the Consultant will have to verify if the method defined in the previous Point 2 turns out to be actually faster than the traditional methods. It should be noted that the measurement carried out using the innovative method must guarantee the same accuracy as the measurement carried out using the traditional method (mechanical tracer mounted in the CMM). If the innovative method defined in the previous Point 2 does not meet the specific requirements, the Consultant must make changes to the aforementioned method and perform the experimental tests necessary to verify the achievement of the required time and accuracy requirements. The Consultant will also have to study and implement rules for the use of the innovative method according to the geometric characteristics of the product (s) measured. The aforementioned rules must allow BORA POLAND, depending on the max drawing depth of the product, the presence of flanges or other geometric characteristics, to be able to apply the innovative method with the necessary corrections / precautions. Term realization Participation conditions / mandatory criteria Expected results. Technical report describing the performance analysis activity of the innovative method for dimensional control of printed products. Descriptive technical report of the changes applied to the method and related experimental tests to support the modifications. Release of the definitive method for the dimensional control of printed products in the prototype version. Not later than 24 months and according to the following timetable: - Part 1: max 7 months after order date, - Part 2: max 7 months after order date, - Part 3: max 5 months after approval of the results of Part 1 and Part 2, - Part 4: max 12 months after approval of Part 3, - Part 5: max 12 months after approval of Part 3. 1) The contract can not be awarded to Bidders / Consultants who have patrimonial or personal ties with the Client.
